We're going to use the onboard diagnostics to test a Whirlpool Commercial Coin-op Washer. these are the test that help a technician locate specific areas of failure.
@@kalenburns4190 it is not in the users manual. You need the Tech Sheet. It is normally located on the inside front of the machine. Remove the top of the machine and look on the left side of the front. It is in a plastic bag stuck to the front of the machine. You can Google tech sheet and the model number to find a PDF version.
Thank you@@tonyturner9146 the literature is ruined because the machine was flooded. called whirlpool tech support and they wouldnt give me the tech info because im not a "qualified technician". cant find it online. any ideas?
On my tablet I'm just reading a PDF version of the "tech sheet". Most of those machines will have a tech sheet attached to the back of the front panel of the machine. If you can put it in diagnostics and run the test then the machine is probably not at fault. There is a switch in the coin mechanism that enables the controls of the machine. That switch may be the issue. Or the coin is not mashing the switch when the coin slide goes in.
I like this washer. It's pretty reliable and easy to work on. I guess it's about as good as any. The ones in the video are at an apartment complex and we do very little to them.
I have the same model. The washer stalls without completing a cycle, leaving three green LEDs lit, "In Use," "Rinse" and "Done." The manual is missing and I have not been able to locate any information on the web. Any ideas what the three lights indicate and what is wrong?
Quick question, when doing the test cycle my lid lock led is not lit is that normal. I was originally getting a pressure error (F3E1) I fixed that then I noticed the lid lock thing thought it was odd.
If it won't lock in service mode then it most likely won't in normal mode. If the lid is not locked it will not spin and should set an error code. On page 4 of the tech sheet you will see instructions to enter Manual Overview Test Mode. This mode allows you to run individual tests on components. Enter Manual mode and follow the instructions on page 9. Everything you need to diagnose the issue is in the tech sheet (mini manual as some call it).
Tony ran it through diagnostics nothing shows up.when it starts fills up for 30 seconds.stop moves to wash/soak cycle but doesn't fill and starts to agitate with no water. If I do another load fills with water and works fine.Frustrated can you help me out😢
I have the same washer, model number slightly different #cae2743bq0 I did the same thing you did had no issues. But when i put the change in and hit the start button nothing happens. Any ideas
When you pull the top off the coin-op and work the coin slide you should see the slide hit and push back a switch. You can operate the switch without coins by just working the switch manually inside the coin-op. If you work the switch and the machine won't run then the switch could be bad or a wire could be loose. Verify the wire from the switch is connected to the main control board. If switch is good and the wiring is connected correctly then the control board could be bad.
@@tonyturner9146 thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I ended getting to that point once I went through the fault codes. Tried cleaning the switch mechanism to see if that would work, no luck. I was able to get it to work by moving it by hand, so I will be replacing the entire mechanism. Thanks!!
There is a copy of the tech sheet inside the machine. Open the top or pull the front and look on the front left. Or Google the model number and use the words tech sheet.
That's a tricky question. The short answer is yes, on some dryers. The dryers in this laundry center were standard coin-op with no diagnostics. But when you get into the Cabrio/Bravos Duet world or Samsung and LG world's most of those dryers have some form of diagnostics built in... But that's another video lol.
To recalibrate you do the process he did to go into diagnostic mode and go the what would be the number four or rinse, then press start. It will go trough the recalibration process.
I whirlpool commercial washer coin op will not go into diagnostics mode. I’ve changed the board & the coin slide. The machine will turn on when no coins have been put it. Even when the coin slide switch is unplugged
@@Mark_from_LA No, I changed everything & it would still start for free. I even spoke with whirlpool, and they admitted that the see this all the time. But did not offer a solution. Hopefully, if enough of us complain, there will be a recall or full class action lawsuit against this machine.
What if your machine won’t go into diagnostics mode and the final spin light just blinks?
After my mom use garden hose to clean the washer, the washer no longer lights up and will trip the breaker. What should I do to fix it? Thank you.
Very informative and well made video, Tony. What program is that on your tablet?
That is just a PDF version of the "Tech Sheet" I'm reading on my tablet.
@@tonyturner9146is this in the users manual? Or a special manual. If you have a link to a digital version can you post please? Thank you.

First, how do I get the program you have on your tablet? Next, the lights aren't coming on when money is inserted. Any suggestions? Great video.

Tony, I'm at a hotel and I'm thinking about getting this washer. Whays your OPINION about this washer is a heavy traffic hotel?

It is not normal for the lid lock light to not come on... Is the lid locking?
@@tonyturner9146 It locks when it's ran normally, but after rewatching the video I don't think it's locking at all when it's in service mode.
