Well that was a cool vid I wanted to see that park and you did a awesome job showing me. Dusty blown out trails, bro. Come for a ride with us down here in the southern rockies then you will be in heaven riding there
Thank you!! Where are your home town trails at? I always like to keep a dream list of places to go. Might be somehwere I can add to the long distance ride spots.
Your welcome. I ride down in south west New Mexico in the Gila forest mostly. There is Angel Fire Resort in northern NM lift access bike park and a blast and half lol. The hole region here NM, Arizona, Colorado, and even Texas are places mtb'ers will have fun and then some
nice video 🤙
Thank you!
The only thing that worries me about the whale tail is that it has no lip. Do you have to bunny hop onto it or what? I also watched other videos and saw that people were over shooting the whale tail. Is this true?
No the lip is not very sharp on it. It needs to be treated like a step up and use good bike control to clear the initial wood. If someone dead sailors the jump like it's a table top they aren't going to have a good day. It requires a good loft of the front wheel then tucking the bike into you to get level. So yes the bunny hop motion is needed, but that it proper jumping.
we just had the big nica event there. basically the whale tail is very easy to over shoot. idk how the town can afford the insurance because i know multiple people that have broken there collar bone on it.
@@ronanlynch5292 It is an ambitious feature to have on a public park. They really are hard to design without them being very large and made for big jumps. We recently removed one that we had on our public trail also. In its place was installed a moto style ramp to a very large table top. This park maybe could take note and have something better for progression. All of the jumps here could get man made take off ramps installed. Ends up being less maintainance and a higher quality jump for everyone.
As a person who ride free ride in lift access bike parks, this look small but fun!
In the scope of actual bike parks, it is. On the slope bike it was OK because of the size, but when I rode it on my trail bike, all transitions were either too tight or not long enough for the wheelbase. But for a free park, it's a great place for progression especially for the up and comers.
@@WattOnWheels should a small trail bike be good? I ride a 2021 full suspension and I can get over the back wheel but are the transitions good for that sort of riding?
@@sendyboi7028 the main reason to go to this area is the trail system. This bike park is just a small feature mainly for families with kids. The proportions are just a bit wonky for full sized bikes.
I've been on the trails and pump track there
Everyone should make it out there at least once. Different type of trail compared to most people more natural stuff.
I went here with my mtb team it’s 6th to seniors for my team and that whale tail is so intimidating
Yes it can be a bit of a mind game. Keep riding and progressing and you will hit it in no time. Next time you are there, focus on a clean landing on the drop before it and holding a nice high line through the berm so you can get straight before the first jump. It seems like a taller jump that it is. Keep in mind it's a step up onto the platform.
@@WattOnWheels that lip is so small. My teammates hyped up my other teammate to try it and he did...he got a concussion and fractured his collar bone
@@mtbdean457 sorry to hear that. Yes it is not a lip that you can jsut dead sailor off of. It takes proper technique. The other jumps there will be a good gauge of if someone can make it. If a rider can pop the other tables and match the backside angle then they should be fine. If their jump technique it to just pull up and see what happen, well another concussion is on the way.
Is the trail dusty or something?
Should I have mentioned one or two more times?
Watt On Wheels lol I was just kidding around! Awesome vid by the way:)
@@ksemi02 thank you. No offense taken. Have you ever been to Raystown?
Watt On Wheels Ya I’ve been to Dirt Fest years ago!
I get it. It's dry. Pick a day after it rains otherwise it's par for the course.
Ya, our trip there did happen to be after they just opened up after Covid lockdown. I'm sure there is a bit more maintenance during normal operation. At least I hope there is.
@@WattOnWheels I went on it even though it said we couldn't during lockdown cuz no one was there lol. The conditions were better
What time of the year was it?
