You do realize that Penn State's helmet is white, completely white, nothing but white, with a single black stripe, don't you? How does that qualify for anything but BAD!

Those UCLA helmets haven't been used since 2021. The new ones are a slightly different shade of gold with gold facemasks too. Honestly, I like them better that way too.
Penn state elite!? Really , they have the worst helmet/uns in college. They look like a team who uniforms were lost and had to go a get unis from Academy sports just to wear a uni for the game.

Total arbitrary silliness. Doesn't like the Rutgers 'R' but likes the Washington 'W'. Doesn't like Rutgers' color (red) but like Maryland's color (red). Doesn't like Spartans Helmet because there is another Spartan team and totally ignores the cool unique helmet. Then calls USC elite even though the warrior on the helmet is not as clean or classic as the Spartan helmet. Good grief this guy is a bozo.
Factors which go into such a rating; must be limited to the look of the helmet. If we start judging the program by its history or record, we no longer evaluate the helmet but the program. Sticking to the helmets...
Some comments - Oregon, just tacky. MI unique, a bit overrated but unique.
Elite: Iowa, Michigan State
Good: Michigan, UCLA, USC, Ohio State
Mid: Minnesota (college color and more stylized vs block letter), Wisconsin, Indiana, Nebraska (yes just a block letter but it kind of fits with the stark ruralness of Nebraska in general. Plus red on field of white is more stand out than some of the other combos in the bad category)
Bad: Northwestern (but I do like the purple), Rutgers, Maryland, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue
She doesn’t know WTF she’s talking about. Nebraska at the minimum should be in the Good column, and probably deserves to be in the elite column.
USC fan here. Of course our helmet is elite. BUT, no one can deny that Michigan's is the most iconic.
Ohio states is just so dumb. For a huge program. Please get a helmet. And a uniform. Just to plain.
Simplicity can go a long way, bro. Sometimes, having more doesn’t make things look better, and Ohio State’s helmet and uniform are perfectly fine as they are. A clean design will always look good, and that’s what they have.

As for Oregon, what is their helmet really? Is it the O? A duck? Maybe just part of a wing? Is it Green? Yellow? White? Chatreuse? Silver? Black? Might want to decide on what it is before we judge it.

Penn State has about the worst helmet in college football, even worse than Alabama. But, yeah, Michigan’s helmet is the GOAT! Iowa’s logo is the GOAT of logos. And, I’m biased, but even though it’s not flashy, I love the white with bright red trim and block N of the Huskers! GBR! ❤🌽🏈

Who are these people? Iowa is mid at best. UW’s helmet is iconic.

You guys need to up your game on Wisconsin. We invented the rolling W. Come on. You both need to come to Camp Randal for a night game in early October, then say the helmet sucks as you indicated.
The helmets need to be graded in a vacuum. These guys are basing judgment on past performance of the teams, fan bases, basketball, etc, etc. Let’s face it, if Penn State, Ohio State and Nebraska were perennial doormats with no winning tradition, their helmets would be bottom-tier without any discussion necessary.
The helmet should be judged only on the actual look. For example, let’s say you were starting up a brand new football team, and you had some contractual requirement to chose one of the BigTen helmet designs, and then some other professional would design the rest of the uniform around your helmet choice.

Michigan >> Oregon (if Oregon would ever decide what their helmet should look like).
Best Font for a single or duo letter (inherently somewhat boring):

Stop it. Their helmet looks solid with the scarlet stripe against the gray with black and white trim on it, and having the helmet be completely covered with Buckeye leaf stickers makes it look even better. That type of comment can be said by anyone, but your profile picture explains it all lol

Maryland’s new uniforms are easily top-3 in the Big Ten. The Terps script helmet is elite. Rutgers deserves more company in the bad range. Illinois is bad. Indiana is bad. Purdue is bad.
Call me crazy, but even as a non-Maryland fan, I kinda liked those gaudy state flag helmets!
@@sc100ott Eh, I respect your take. Personally, I found the flag on everything interesting at first, but the schtick definitely got stale to many Maryland fans. Our fanbase is mostly very happy to have more traditional unis and helmets back.

@@sc100ott We definitely appreciated them. One version of them were hand painted. They were art. They were also debuted during an era of Maryland football we’d like to forget. One coach let a kid die during practice. The other was just plain tuurible. Our program is better now. Not B1G championship level, but far from the doldrums. The current uni and helmet are reminiscent of a winning era of Maryland football that we hope to see again. I was in college during the early Fridge years and the Terps script make me happy and remind of of good times.

Did both of you two east coast homers say Washington's helmet wasn't elite but Ohio State's is? We don't care what you think on the west coast and I have my own list starting with Michigan as mid because they copied the helmet and changed the colors! College football starts and ends with that gold helmet with the purple W logo and it stands alone without the uniforms.
