- You saw episode 1 of this series, where Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch forces me to shoot a bunch of old guns. Last episode, we went from the Civil War to the Wild West, but in this episode, we tackle everything from the Spanish-American War, to World War I, to World War II, Vietnam, and finally, ending with the M16/M4 of the common era.

4:20 -- James' ability to destroy shotgun attachments is truly remarkable.

This has "Weekend at the really cool Uncle's house" vibes
I've met Clint....f--- up on his range and "cool" uncle goes out the window and up your ass.
Without the sodomy
It *does* have that "weekend at the cool uncle's house" vibe ...except no-one got drunk, threw gas on the bonfire and singed their eyebrows off!
(At least not on camera!)
"No! I don't wanna go home! Uncle Clint let's me fire his 1897 trench gun... and hot dogs for breakfast!"
Clint Smith making hearing protection a fashion statement!
“I’m an iron sight queer” this man should never be allowed to die
Happy Pride if you're Clint Smith
You know, I grew up old school, shooting from a young age with Men in the family who were all old Army and War Vets and Cops. I never shot anything but Iron Sights and still do today. I had eotech sights on my AR's and ended up taking them off, because I shoot just as well as with a red dot. I have two scoped rifles that are bolt guns, but that's it. I'm fortunate that even in my 60's, my eyes are still able to do Iron sights very quickly.
I caught that. Clint is something else.
I loved that lol
@@user-bz7fg1pk4lbo7ditto. Wasn’t allowed to fool with optics until was competent with variety of iron sight types. Only concession to age has been converting a few to reciever sights
I don't think Clint even noticed he wasn't using ear pro even after the gun was fired. 😂
It's his dead ear.
The pain in his neck probably rings louder 😬
Chad behavior
Gun : angry loud noises
Clint : wuss
Gun : 👍🥺
WHAT??!!
There is nothing I like more, and I do mean *nothing* , than listening to someone explain their hobby, their passion, with true joy and excitement in their eyes.
Because you can always tell when they're doing it because *they want you to feel* that same *joy* they have.
100% agreed with you.

Thank you!
Thank you for being sharp enough to recognize and appreciate the pleasure others have in relating their joyful experiences!
We all should find that thing (hopefully our work, if not then a hobby) which brings us joy!
Otherwise, WTF are we doing here?
This may be my favorite video series by James. He may hate old firearms, but having him and Clint go through all the history, technology changes, and fire them is the content we all need.
Seriously the way Clint watches James shooting these old war horses with pride is so cool 😍
Yes bro.
Gave me vibes from watching R. Lee Ermey on the History Channel as a kid.
Same here it reminds me of shooting with my grandfather he had hundreds of guns i was spoiled since he was a collector.
@@BUZZKILLJRJR
Lucky you.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I think James started to like the 30-06 caliber. I think a great video would be on ballistics of 556 and 30-06 so he can really appreciate the difference.
This was by far the best series TFB TV has produced so far. Thank you very much for sharing it.
Clint is a living legend. The bottomless knowledge he represents combined with the integrity only a true warrior has, makes him the perfect teacher for the next generations.
I hope you guys continue to sprinkle content with Clint in from time to time.
Wholesome af
This isn’t TFB TV, though
@@borkwoof696to me the separation of channels is a commercial decision. Hence, I do not make a differentiation between the 3 channels. That this series was published in James channel is rather statistical to me and most likely a commercial decision to boost his new channel. And he hashtags tfbtv ... but yes, you are right, this is not tfbtv . My bad . Do you have anything of value to contribute otherwise? 😊

The M1 carbine is seriously underrated. I would love to see one pop up for a TFBTV videos as the Mini 14’s brother.
More like Uncle
More like the uncle that's not actually related
It’s definitely better, except for the round it fires
Yea
A 357 mag version of the m1 carbine would be great
@@Redacted-Informationseriously think they should bring back 44 automag for semi auto carbines it's a real shame it's only used in one pistol
Now you should do a video on older pistols with Client Smith?
"M1903 Garand"? The elephant in the room is "What does Clint think of the shorts?"
When I was a Mormon missionary I had a similar experience. We knocked on a man’s door and when he opened I saw an M1913 on the man’s table in the back. I said “hey just so you know a Mormon invented that gun you have” and he let me in. We talked about the Bible while he was smoking cigars and then proceeded to show us his whole gun collection. Within 20 minutes of talking to him I was holding an AK, my companion an AR, and he a Thompson. Good times.
Gotta love my man John Moses Browning! If you asked people what types of firearms are their favorite, you might hear ARs, WWII arms, 1911s, etc.
For me it is simply the arms of John Browning. From Winchester 1894s to 1911s, 1887,1897,1912 shotguns, Winchester 1895s, and Colt 1903s. Not to mention his somewhat smaller hand in the Browning Hi Power. As well as the massive input he had on automatic firearms for the US Military.
There is a type of firearm discipline for everyone. His influence on the firearms world continues to this day! With the Browning short recoil action being the number one pistol action in use currently.
Pounding on a 30.06 and Clint had only half his ears on LOL... James, you always have the most interesting videos, whether it's Clint, or Beretta or some other countries gun stores.. Super interesting. Thanks for bringing it to us.
I don’t know how I slept on James in the past but he has quickly become my favorite source for all things in the industry.

My Dad was a Ranger in Korea and my Grandfather was with the 101st in WWII. Both used the Garand Rifle and could run them so fast and smooth, including reloads, that it would bring a tear to your eyes. They could literally do at 100 yards, as many rounds as most people with an AR, and hit every time. It was just the rifle that they knew and had literally put thousands of rounds through and had reloaded hundreds of times. Even during the Cold War and after when people thought the possibility of the Sh*t Hitting The Fan in the USA, their food storage and shelter was well equipped with many Grand Clips and ammo cans of 30-06 ammo and of course 45 ACP and many 1911 Mags. Though my choice today is the AR platform, I still have those two glorious rifles.
Lucky man
Awesome story, The Great Generation saved the world. I recently purchased a Korean War era (according to the serial number) M1 Garand and I love shooting it. I'm having a problem with the safety and am not sure who can fix it for me, but I'll figure it out eventually.
Awesome story and blessed to have had those men as mentors
it's been said before but Clint is a damn national treasure.
This series was great to watch, you should do another one w/ side arms.
Where James just fires nothing by 1911s until he loses his sanity.

For poor James (Mr Glock fanboy).that might only be 4 magazines of 7 rounds each.
😭😭😭Mr Smith, I want my extended mags.
🙄🙄No James, you must learn "continuity of fire" with a 1911!
Honestly man Clint is like having my grandfather still around. He was also a marine that was in Vietnam and I Fucking miss listening to him. Love these videos with Clint man
Clint is the best!
A national treasure for sure.
Ultimate grandpa
I'm from that generation and I hope this generation is exposed to Clint regularly.
Many in the younger generation would simply absorb his knowledge. Like the M4 at the end, use the technology if you need it. Many younger people think that just because I use iron sights that I abhor technology, not true I use it where it gives me the advantage.
James learning how to shoot with Uncle Clint is the most wholesome damn thing on RUclips
I appreciate these videos because it punches a hole in the “they only had muskets when they wrote the 2nd Amendment” argument. We have always been advancing firearms.
Chamber loading rifles was advancing quick by the n, Ferguson is one but some other also.
Double rifles used also ,and some 3 barrel rifles too.
2 Beautiful videos man.
A forgotten element of the 2nd Amendment is that Cannons were allowed to be owned as well.
@@mr.k.i.s.s7496Can still own black powder cannons as unregulated items
These videos need shown in court. Have a good weekend.
That was great, listening to Clint is like listening to a gun encyclopedia!!
Clint probably isn’t the right age to be your grandfather, but you two interacting is like the loving but gruff grandad and city grandson who really wants to learn. It’s honestly just adorable.
Makes me feel back at my Grandparents ranch shooting my incles guns
“… so it was a big ass pill.” Hahahahaha. Love him.
I’m an old gun nut. This was a fun video.
This series was outstanding! The reality is, you could do an hour and a half of Clint Smith describing his favorite garden hose, and I'd still watch it twice in a row. He is the true American firearms treasure. 🇺🇸
And now, James is a man.
He was until he said van damme movies suck
Wood and steel. The weight, the smell of wood, oil, and gunpowder. Love old military rifles. Thanks for the 2 part. Very enjoyable.
The fully buttoned military blouse says it all. Respect sir. ❤🙏👍😺🦅
Gentlemen it is a pleasure to spend time with you, thank you so much.
U can tell Clint is so use to James shenanigans he doesn’t even blink and just keeps teach’n 😂 tough Grampa and his goofy hipster grandson
FANTASTIC videos with Clint. The man is an incredible instructor.
Thanks, this was a fun series! I wouldn't mind if it was 10 times longer and took more time with each rifle.
As someone who loves old guns more than anything modern, this was an awesome series and watching Clint share the history with someone who is learning it for the first time was really cool. I share his passion. I don't just enjoy shooting old guns, I love them because they tell the story of firearms history in real tangible objects you can hold in your hand and enjoy with friends and family.
Ditto that
Absolutely love my IH M1 Garand. But as I`ve gotten older, shakier, and eye sight not so good, I`ve come to like the ARs a lot more than I used to. Light weight and some kind of optics really help us aging old farts. 🙂
Isnt that pretty much same as what Colt did to make men more equal.
Moderm rifles just take that same idea bit further while allowing
more people with disadvantages to stay relevant even longer.
Harvester is the most desirable in rarity but actually the worst in quality for garands other than the fact they they serialized their stocks.
@@jason200912 This one is a rebuild. Has a Springfield barrel and some other mismatched parts. So not that much of a collector item, but a great shooter.

You can see how long Clint has been teaching from the way he speaks and some little things he does; like holding the rifle for James when he sees he doesn’t have his ear pro on.
what i love most about this video, the 1907 sling on his "go to" fighting rifle. love his mind
Clint has major "godly teacher you aren't aware is godly" vibes
he's very patient, doesn't yell, and is clearly happy to teach and correct mistakes to James who doesn't get/understand/has experience with these weapons.
Clints excited, firm but fair grandpa really came out in this one ,just bonding time with pa . It's great
The M1 Garand was actually still in use in the 1970s because during the infamous Kent State Shooting National Guard soldiers still had them
I miss Clints Video's, the only time I get to see him is on your channel, He is a National Treasure.
6:00 Clint Smith an absolute unit, no earmuff on right ear with a 30.06 firing
Great episodes but I gotta say I agree with Clint I think myfavorite is the older stuff but ide fight with newer rifles
always thought james played for the other team
can't trust someone who is "anti old guns" but he sure did look happy with the old heavy wood in his hand
Having a firearms legend hand you historic weapons and explain their significance.
Then let you shoot all of them.
A once in a lifetime experience.

Clint is amazing.
James needed this firearm history lesson.
The short epilog was heartfelt.
What a pleasure. Clint is a national treasure.
Clint raw dogging the first shot to his ear was great. Bro didn't even flinch, that ear has probably been ringing for longer than my mother has been alive.
"I'm not yelling at you, I'm yelling because I can't hear myself."
So jealous of the krag. As a Norwegian-American, its the epidome of my obsession with historical firearms.
absolutely love this series with clint. man has more knowedge about guns in his pinky than anyone i know
Really fun series! You’re right on in the end. It’s about spending time with who matters!
That M1 Carbine has the prettiest stock I've ever seen on one! 🤤
As a History nerd all the old guns are super cool.
Really liked your message at the end of the video. Very well said, thank you .
I guess being in my mid 60's and having been a shooter for 50 years I have been exposed to a lot of weapons platforms (especially WW 1 & 2 era weapons). I love Clint's philosophy. Don't ignore the technology, but you CAN fight with any weapon; just learn use it to your advantage. I hope you continue to be open to shooting older weapons. I enjoy the channel!
How cool it is to be trained by a real teacher he reminds me of Jeff Cooper 😊
Clint to me is the godfather of guns and training. Imo he is the best at what he does. Brings this old school Salty no nonsense aspect to it. I hope I can get up there before this treasure of a man is no more.
Those old bolt actions like the Springfield are awesome. Same for the M1 Garand, just fun stuff. Clint is passionate about the history! I love that. Best videos to date. Thanks, James, for doing this with Clint. He is a treasure to all the gun nuts out in America for sure.
Clint reminds me of an old saying,
“Before you decide an old man is an easy target, you better know what kind of young man he was.”
I thoroughly enjoyed the knowledge bombs dropped by both of these vids. 👍
It’s a privilege to have Clint sharing and teaching
James is an amazingly hubris individual. Mr. Smith is a national treasure, James is spare change.
Great seeing history lessons from Clint! Thank you for sharing!👍
It’s awesome to hear from Clint. I don’t think most men grow up with a guy like that and it’s killing our country
Clints great but im not sure what you mean by killing our country
God damn, boys. Clint is a man's man. Blunt, rough, callous, no bs, straight forward. We need much more men like this in the world!
"...if I had this gun, what would be the best way to fight with it?" That's the best quote I've ever heard when discussing how different weapon systems can be used in combat!
Clint Smith's level of National Treasure Hood cannot be overstated.
Absolutely loved this series, James. Thank you and Clint.
I'm surprised Clint didn't bring out a 1917 Enfield to shoot. Considering the 1917 outnumbered the 1903 Springfield in the AEF (something like 75% of troops were equipped with the 1917).
And James thought the ‘03 was heavy …pick up a 17!
Oh, and not to belabor the point, there never was an 1917 Enfield. Enfield was called the Pattern 13 (or 14, can’t find it in my books) in America after they had filled the contracts Eddystone and others made the M1917, a near copy of the Pattern 14.
The rifle after the Springfield 03 was a P17.
@@russelsellick316 there NEVER was a “P17”. It’s a U.S. Rifle Model 1917.

Clint Smith, national treasure.
I inherited a 30-40 Krag, it was my granddad's deer rifle and I to this day tell everyone I'm here because that rifle exists since it fed my mom so many times as a child. It's definitely the king of the rifles in my safe. First time I shot it I thought it was broke because a little lever was in the "by pass" position, but I thought the internal magazine was malfunctioning. I loved this series, now time for the hand gun version...
Love these. Thank you, James!
"I don't fucking plan on bayoneting people with THAT" No truer words have been spoken, especially by an Old Breed Marine 😂😂😂
Clint is a fucking national treasure, I love listening to him talk his favorite firearms. Also, cool to know he digs Motwon like I do! Keep being excellent, brother!
An underwood M1 Carbine was the first ww2 rifle I bought. It was at a flea market I paid $500 for it. Still have it after all these years too.
I inherited my grandfather's 16ga Winchester 1897 in the 1980s. As kids, my grandfather told us it was broken because it fired when the trigger was held and was pumped. Glad I took it to a good gunsmith to have it fixed. He set the record straight: it was manufactured with that "Street -Sweeper" feature. What a treasure to own.
Another excellent video which I really enjoyed since I am a military surplus collector... Clint is an amazing man and I could listen to him talk all day. 👍👍
yes yes well spoken👍🇺🇸
Always cherish and preserve your elderly, be they man or machine, they are our basis for existence.
Clint’s Sharp’s “It’s not for Sissies” is a great video. James thank you for sharing this national treasure of a man with your subscribers!
I thouroghly enjoyed these episodes. Clint has an infectious personality that I think anyone can enjoy, even if you could care less about history or firearms. Combine that with the retard firing rounds off, and it makes a great show. I also think your short monologue at the end was great. When people are passionate about something, share it with your friends and family. You never know, they might turn into a (insert addict junkie subject here) and learn to appreciate the time and knowledge you love to share. Bravo, love you guys.

M1 Carbine was my first rifle. You never forget your first love. ❤
😂 I friggin love how Clint without skipping a beat says “no not gonna work” when James tries to stick an AR mag in there LMAO!!! 1:21
I love how the trench shotgun was considered a war crime by the Nazis. Like a shotgun is evil but human torture and human experiments is completely safe and humane
It was ww1 Germans who complained not the nazis
WW1. Not Nazis. But yea they were using mustard gas while bitching about 12 gauge.
I still call them Nazis because Hitler still fought with them in WW1. He then basically made a manifesto of why all Germans should be bitter they lost.
Clint is just so enthusiastic and passionate and you know he knows ALL those guns.
Unexpectedly wholesome message at the end.
I wish Clint knew that whenever he spoke, it brings genuine joy to my heart, listening to what he hast to pass down
This video made me cry listening to Clint talk just made me miss my uncle he sadly just passed away and lfrom cancer and left me a good collection of his firearms that are feature in this video. So much knowledge and memories he passed on to me glade you did this series of videos with him James. Makes me appreciate what he left me more I love the history behind them a lot and love added them to my armory and service rifle collection
God bless Clint Smith. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend a class up there someday!
No one can hate old guns. Theyre so cool. My pops recently gave me his 1913 enfield, 30-06. Over 100 years old. Loads smooth as hell, still super accurate. I have been shooting it my whole life.

The 1897 is by far my favorite firearm out of these two episodes, such a beautiful gun.
To touch on the end of this video, this definitely came across as a grandpa teaching his grandson the old ways and being excited to do so. Clint is an awesome dude.
Can't agree more about shooting. I am 74. My son is 41. I LOVE shooting with my son. It's important to me to give us a common interest.
Whatever their passion, running into guys like Clint is always a special treat. He cares enough to put so much effort into sharing. It is a fool who doesn't recognize the effort and how much they care about the people who take even a casual interest in what they are sharing.
