Only one cup, but I drank it slow. Couldn't find anything I'd want to debate with Mr. Smith, especially carrying a defensive pistol without a round in the chamber. Most people, especially as they get older, are going to have enough trouble reacting to a life threatening situation with one IN the chamber. Having to rack one in will almost surely result in rendering the pistol worthless.

An older friend told me this: when someone older shares their wisdom, listen close. Eat the meat, spit out the bones. You don’t have to agree with everything, but at least consider what they have said. Pay attention. Think about it all. Act accordingly.

Interesting video. When I began the police academy in ‘68 we were taught accuracy w/our revolvers (bulls eye shooting) but not how to survive a gunfight. Following my 1974 gunfight w/three armed robbery suspects our range training changed, and we were trained how to win a gunfight. I was damn lucky to have come out on top that night, but I’m also a Viet Nam combat vet so that may have had something to do w/it.

I’m late to the party but wanted to say thank you for the video. I carry whenever and wherever legal…. and while at home. I have a membership with a local range that also offers classes that also cover the legalities for carry and use of a firearm in the state I live in. The very first time I’d come across anything related to Clint Smith was an article in a gun magazine. At the time (21years ago) I was looking for a holster for my first pistol. In the article I read and have carried a quote from him. “Carrying concealed is meant to be comforting, not comfortable.” Thank you both for all that you do.

Very practical way of thought on primary functions, life happens good and bad, the real danger is a lack of awareness. The difficulties ahead must be dealt with intelligently because it will be in short supply, your future as well as others may depend on your clarity and focus both of which develop through training.

Very true. I have always done the same. Decades ago I was laying some boards in the attic of my single story house. Noone was home except me and it was about 1100. I heard my dogs barking. It was that bark that most dog owners know. Not the casual "noise making" sound but one where there is urgency, fear, and pitch to it. I peered out of one of the gable vents and saw two young guys looking around in my backyard. The fact that I had my Glock 19 with one extra mag on me made me feel a lot better as I was in a bad situation. They milled around for a while and then perhaps the barking got to them and they just left. I did call the police but they were not gound. I was lucky I had my pistol. If they had decided to enter the house (despite the dogs) it may have become a whole different situation.

Clints right about the main reason to carry a spare mag for your CCW. It’s not to shoot more although that a big bonus. I always try to tell people that an automatic is only as good as it’s magazine….

Had a buddy fire off an errant round on an old HK back in the day that had a de-cocker
The thing was he released the de-cocker so quickly it rotated the firing pin back into place in that split second just in time for the hammer to smack it
Boom one through the wall Thru the cabinet that another buddy was looking thru the room over

Are you really sure his finger wasn’t in the trigger? If not, that gun was broken because it should not matter how quickly you press a decocking lever.
