Empathy is inherent in our human nature and is an advantage when it comes to living in social groups. If we agree that well-being is foundational to community living then our behaviour toward one another will advance our progress as a species.
      No human sacrifice needed.

Burdens can be a gift. I lost my husband, son, daughter. It was the making of me and the truest holiest gift I was ever given. Now I’m the one that doesn’t want to be a burden to my last child. That’s pride and that’s the first sin, pride.

the timing of this video couldnt be more perfect. A family friend very unexpectedly died today. For the past 10+ years he did all of the care for his wife with alzhiemers. he spent hours everyday helping her with simple tasks like bathing, dressing and eating. he just couldnt bring himself to put her in a nursing home. his sacrificial love touched the lives of many. he carried his wife so well. and now, he is being carried by the Father.

This video make so much sense to me. I constantly feel like a burden to my family and boyfriend because of my depression and anxiety. Sometimes I feel like I drain them, and think they would be better off without me. It feels nice to realise that all of us are burdens, and that they are my burdens too. Now I know that my problem is not about whether I'm or I'm not a burden, but if I'm worth carrying...I really think I'm not worth it. But it seems like they do so... Maybe I should take their words (and actions) for it.

"I have to say no to myself and my will in order to will your good" is so deeply profound because that's exactly what the Father does for us through Christ out of his immense love for us, BUT that's not even the first layer of his act of love! His first was creation, and if he hadn't given us His Son his love would STILL be completely perfect. He truly went beyond the boundaries of perfect love in order to reach us who were lost.

Fr. Mike is in relationship with Jesus, and you are hearing the words of the Holy Spirit, which always speak the words we need to hear.
The Oracle makes use of witchcraft to obtain its knowledge. It is entirely different. A difference that I hope you know about, but if not, I pray you come into the truth of knowing that difference.

Why then is it so easy to forget our parents' struggle when it is our turn to care for them?

I can't think of many of my older relatives who didn't have prolonged suffering and very little quality of life but adding the burden that they can choose to die seems cruel. even doing the right thing can involve a degree of suffering, even if its done out of love. Mike, you're a burden, a very insightful burden :) thank you so much

You brought me to tears with this message, I felt so relieved. For the last few years I've really stuggled with feeling like I was this big burden to everyone around me. Family and friends would always say I wasn't but I knew I was, and I felt like they were just lying. Even feeling like I was too much of a burden to Jesus. When you spoke out about how we are a burden but that we're also a burden worth carrying , that broke me. I guess I never saw it that way, that those around me wanted to love me despite all my baggage. That I might be a burden (and at times a blessing) but either way I was worth loving.
So thank you for this video, it really helped me!

Thanks Father Mike for this message. The Lord really spoke to my heart about the sacrifices I need to consider in my own life. It really helped me to understand why I need to carry my cross and lean on his strength.

Excellent talk! I will be bringing this to the youth of my program. There have been a few suicides in our greater community and I think this is a great message for them! We are all worth the love!
