If u believe the Bible is the word of God, here are a few Bible verses that you have to deal with. Psalm 5:4 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. 5 The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. Psalm 11:5 The Lord tests the righteous, But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Psalm 7:11. God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day.
Father Mike, thank you for this video. When I was a kid my mom taught us that sin is anything that breaks Jesus's heart. It is so easy to say it doesn't hurt anyone but in fact it hurts Jesus. He desires Holiness from us because that is what is best for us. He loves us so much He died for us; we should live our lives to guard His heart.
Sin always hurts someone... Even when it doesn't hurt someone else, sin hurts You. Breaks your connection with God, makes you further from God, causes your soul to die. Etc... So, sin, no matter how small or big hurts the sinner. Sin hurts you.
This relationship with gods is hard, obedience is difficult.... It doesn't feel like freedom At times .....I love God and I'll pray about it.... Pray for me brothers and sisters.
MrJara1018 I believe you can outcome this temptation. Temptation is not a sin Jesus himself was tempted. Overcoming temptation keeps you away from sin.
Mrjara i've been struggling with this almost all week. I was still struggling with it a little, but God heard my prayers and I felt Him touch me at this very moment now that I have watched this video and read your comment. I realize that God doesn't want us to be like the Pharisees and live by The Law and only by The Law. God wants YOU, to be happy and free. If you're not happy or you don't feel free, then you're not living the way God wants you to live. The devil wants to make you feel guilty, but if you believe in God's mercy, than just be happy!
I've been there too, still am in some ways. I believe that the more we work towards deeper relationship, and the more we rejoice in the things that are easy to accept and have joy in those alongside fighting to accept what isn't easy, the more those things that aren't easy will become easier and become things that we can truly rejoice in. Every commandment God gives is in love. If we don't see it, we just haven't found it yet. Sometimes it takes studying and understanding. Sometimes you just need to pray and trust, and God will come to your aid.
Happiness, to a preacher of religion, is when the sermon makes followers of the words feel holy, while believing that other poor lost souls, are still living in sin. Religion does not unite humanity. It divides humanity. I left it at age 70, am now 82, and believe that I am whole, just as I am, and that the universe always existed, no creator involved. I suggest that it is up to us, how we treat others, and that we should be taught as children, that we are born whole ... not in sin.
I'm so glad I ran across this video. I began to feel myself slipping into a habitual sin and this came up in my RUclips feed. Thank you God and thank you Father Mike for your ministry!
Well explained Father. This is a difficult thing for those who are addicted to sins of the flesh, I never realised I was until I was found and pulled from my old life but the war with this addiction still remains. Telling yourself not to do something but falling to it anyway after fighting it for days.. It's exhausting and very stressful.
Sin assumes that I am the moral authority. Lucifer said as much to himself and then peddled the same lie to Eve. Thanks to the Blessed Virgin Mary for saying yes in humility and charity. Before anyone sins, he must first lie to himself and see that sin is permissible. Have mercy on a Sinners and blessed father Mike with peace, due rest, an increase in piety, fidelity, humility, optimal health, and protection from all evils. Amen!
ahh these videos always come out right when i need them. Love yall at Ascension, you have genuinely affected me to the point of considering conversion to catholicism!!
Converted at the age of 65 - why did I wait soooooo long? I love my Catholic faith and am so glad I finally made the right decision. Will pray for you.
AWESOME I hope some day we will see you coming home. Cuz God is definitely gently calling for you to come into His fold. So please come and join us the family of God the Father. God Bless
Thank you so much, Fr. Whether someone is being hurt or not, well, when I sin, when anyone sins, we're offending God. We're hurting our relationship. Thank God for the sacrament of reconciliation.
Such wise words! A sin has been circulating throughout my life recently, and it’s been a burden. I know that it’s not something that is good and will not bring me closer to Christ. Your connection to sin and relationships was a great piece of wisdom. I need to cut off my relationship to this sin so that I can strengthen my relationship with the Lord!
@@kilix2742 I'm just going to poke my head in for a quick moment. My Jewish tradition, the mother of the king, is the queen and she plays the role as an advocate for the people. That's the actual history, but with Mary, there are more items on the lines of scripture. The "Wedding at Cana" and "The Crucifixion" for two. There's the bare minimum of an answer.
I personally found Fr Mike the more I tried to stay away from sin and with constant prayer asking for forgiveness carrying a burden of condemnation the more I seemed to sin . I also found this hindered me coming to God with the full assurance of faith, sometimes I would throw requests really fast just to get out of his presence. Not so long ago I stopped looking at self and looked to Christ ,keep your eyes on Jesus and the Holy Spirit goes to work in you ,as soon as I realised I was dead to sin and alive in Christ Jesus through his grace things changed.Romans 8 verse 1 to 39 Now I can pray and ask for his supply in my life . I have found the fruits of the Spirit are working through me continually and desires not being right with God no longer plagued my mind. Having been a Catholic I still admire the church with its viewpoints in many ways .
Father Mike Thankyou for this!!! It's like looking at JESUS and then looking at whatever I want momentarily that provides a distraction or escape from reality and rationalizing within so the struggle is less intense for me. I had this vivid dream once I was in this big area lots of people all around and in front of me stood JESUS surrounded by angry men who were leading Him. JESUS Face was full of pain and He stopped right in front of me and looked me straight in the eyes😪 inside i thought i love You JESUS and I wanted to console Him- but I got distracted for a second turned my head and when i looked back JESUS was gone. I have not thought of that dream for sooo long but i did recall it as you were speaking Father Mike. It made me sooo sad. You are right Father Mike sin is always deliberate. Gratefully Gemma
Father Mike yeah we will help me. Before returning to the Catholic Church I did something and you reminded me of something that I did I should say the Holy Spirit reminded me something I did . Before I left to church I did something I shouldn't have done Oh the holy spirit Reminded me It was a commandment Who though what the Pope is said But I broke that commandment unpurposely . So I'm going to have to go to confession Until the priest what I have done and the past . So what I am started to doing When I came back to the Catholic Church 2 weeks ago I have 3 confessions I had to use my phone in confession so I can remember everything because I have a disability and I can't I cannot spill. Then I'm I've also been going to Mass Faithfully I also been taken holy communion . Thank you, Father Mike.
Love your videos Fr Mike. SO SO Life giving. I have said no to God many times while struggling with sin. I fully accept what the Gospels say about sin. I need to pray and fast more and these videos are always a reminder. God bless you.
Yes, such a good video!! I try to explain this to people who don't see the need for confession if they haven't committed any major crimes - nothing that hurt anyone else. But we're human & we choose ourselves instead of God in little ways... & reflecting on those times & confessing them is so beneficial to our growth!! Anyway, great video.
So simple. Great message for the beginning of Advent too💜 Also loved how you remind us that commands are not a burden, but a guide to experience more freedom. It's good to know that Christ is there to guide us through repentance once we learn our lessons the hard way and return to him.
I’m not a strong person to the Bible or a strong person to the church but I’m a strong believer to my God and everything he has done for me. But this conversation about sin really made me feel uncomfortable because there is more to a sin then just “I want what I want”. I believe a sin is the temptation of once that can’t avoid, that will define the relationship with God. And that the Son of God gave his life so that all of us can be saved from the Temptations one can not avoid.
Thank you Fr Mike. Sometimes we also tend to full ourselves and even believe our wrong doing, but the there are consequences from these sins then we don't know why or how bad things happen to us. But it's God saying wake up.
This is me! My heart/soul knows better but my brain always looks for an excuse or a way out. It always comes down to that one decision! By the time I'm ready to pass over my hands will be full of pebbles from falling so much but my knees will be shot from getting back up again xD
I really love your simple definition, and it's so striking to me, since I've been praying lately on a translation I read of the words of the sons of Zebedee to Jesus: "Master, we want you to give us whatever we ask of you." And Jesus is so patient with them. Rather than correct them there and then, he invites them to examine their desire, "What is it that you want of me?" And then they come to the reality that Jesus has another plan, a greater plan, if they accept, if they "drink the cup." It makes me look at when I'm being petty, when I think of my plan, my wants, as greater... and when I say, "I don't care. I want what I want."
Greetings from Germany, Father! Nice to see a Christian Channel Like yours. I searched for a long time to find something like that. I work as a firefighter and since a began my duty I asked more and more about religion. I felt more need in searching god. During my youth I never felt like that, but also in my life, there happened a few things that must come from god himself. It brought me back on the road, if you know what I mean. So, I felt like someone gave me new chances to walk straight.
I wouldn't say, people don't care. I've done what you have said, but I did care and troubled me, which is why I learn, and now for the trouble I won't do it again.
Recently i was confronted with a mortal sin/temptation. I took a step back and didn't comitt the sin. Then i realized the words to the prayer father don't lead us to temptation but deliver us from evil. The easy thing would have been to accept the temptation. God delived me from evil and i felt so overwelmed and closer to God. Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen
I think sin is sometimes so difficult to spot because things have been distorted for a long time and nobody recognizes it as such anymore until there comes the wake up call (and believe me, it always does). Sin is also and most importantly sinning against your divine nature. In any shape or form.
Good topic. I found that after receiving the Holy Spirit, there are even thoughts that He convicts me about. I thank God that the Holy Spirit is at work sanctifying us. One of my favorite verses: Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out and times of refreshing come from the presence of the Lord. I so value those times of refreshing!
When we only want what we want, we condemn ourselves to a life of slavery according to our most wild and uncontrolled passions. The enemy loves to sow seeds of doubt into our minds and into our faith. It all goes back to what Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden, "You too can be like God if you eat of the fruit."
The King of the Kings Jesus Christ said: "He who repent and then commit sin again, insults me publicly." We must try hard, not to let down Jesus in any circumstances. We also shouldn't blame conditions or hardship as reason of doing something against the Will of God. Great video respected Father!
Fr. Schmitz nails it. It ain't about rule-breaking. It's about hurting or destroying relationships, this first one being against the God who suffered and died for each one of us. The root of sin is selfishness---what I want to do---the unholy trinity, "Me, Myself, and I" Every justification is an excuse to do what I want to do.
GREAT FR teaching of CATHOLICISM...KEEP ON TEACHING OUR FAITH TO BRING PEOPLE TO BECOME PRIESTS NUNS, BROTHERS, MORAL MARRIAGE IN LOVE OF CHRIST FOR CHRIST JESUS THE SOURCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WITH US IF WE SEARCH FOR TRUTH..
I think this is an exciting video as it does indeed get at the heart of sin -- we want what we want. I think what most of us would say (and this is not by way of excuse) is that I doubt any of us have this conscious thing where we say that to ourselves. What I mean is that if we're in a relationship with someone -- say a parent -- the implication is that when we do something the other has expressly forbidden we rarely sit down and actually think to ourselves in a deliberate way "I know what you want but I don't care". I think some of us -- again if we were conscious of why we do what we do -- and we can of course be conscious but that takes time and some effort -- would say, "I know what you want but I'm scared!" I mean, obeying God raised Jesus from the dead but it also meant he had to endure the crucifixion and knowing that can be a source of fear as well as inspiration for obedience. I think Fr. Mike is ascribing a degree of indifference to God than many feel who nevertheless sin since we all sin whether we even want to or not. Or some part of us? I just think it is a bit more complicated than is offered here. For eg. there can be a lot of confusion around how Bible rules are taught and interpreted by priest to students. I"ve heard people in authority interpret what Jesus said re: divorce a couple of different ways. What happens when you have more than one authority in a young person's experience. Fr. Mike suggests here that sin always implies indifference to God's will rather than fear or confusion or simple inability to do God's will which St. Paul talked about in Corinthians. Of course there is always a way out of those reasons but it isn't, I think, always because a Christian simply doesn't care what God wants.
I agree with everything he says, except the part about when we I don't care. I think as human beings we just can't help it, why JESUS went through with the crucifixion, why uttered Father forgive them they know not what they do. I am so thankful that we have the gift of confession and God's Mercy,God bless!!!
If you have an addiction to a particular sin think about the times you do it - often a pattern will emerge. When you're aware of those times you most often sin, make those "sin times" prayer time - Half the battle will be won in doing that and it will go a long way to helping you eradicate habitual sin
Actually heard my husband of 39 years day "I don't care, I'm going." w 2x Divorced other woman next to him. He's still struggling w an unhappy and dissatifying life on his own (they lasted 3 months living together) He's my prodigal gone 2 yrs he will return a new creature in Christ. Praying his heart is changing... Rick needs the joy of repentant reconversion.
Before anyone goes into a state of panic (as I did), remember this…
God still loves you.

The enemy loves to sow seeds of doubt into our minds and into our faith. It all goes back to what Satan told Eve in the Garden of Eden, "You too can be like God if you eat of the fruit."
God land me safely back with my family. Save me. Heal me. Guide me. We need your strength God. Amen.
God bless you Fr Mike I needed to hear that
Fr. Mike, thank you!

The Law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. Psalm 19:7
In the past I have said this almost exactly. Father God forgive me
Brilliant and insightful. Thanks Fr Mike...
The King of the Kings Jesus Christ said: "He who repent and then commit sin again, insults me publicly."
We must try hard, not to let down Jesus in any circumstances. We also shouldn't blame conditions or hardship as reason of doing something against the Will of God. Great video respected Father!
Im a 2nd time listener, both 1st and 2nd videos were excellent, keep up the good work and Merry Christmas to you and your listeners
Thank you so much for this video it helped me out a lot
Harsh. And so true. Thank you Father.
Good one, Father.
Glad I found this video
Thank you Fr. God bless you too
I agree with everything he says, except the part about when we I don't care. I think as human beings we just can't help it, why JESUS went through with the crucifixion, why uttered Father forgive them they know not what they do. I am so thankful that we have the gift of confession and God's Mercy,God bless!!!
God bless you Father Mike! Great video as always!
If you have an addiction to a particular sin think about the times you do it - often a pattern will emerge. When you're aware of those times you most often sin, make those "sin times" prayer time - Half the battle will be won in doing that and it will go a long way to helping you eradicate habitual sin
Thanks Fr. God bless you.
Father, four deacons in my diocese will be ordained to the priesthood tomorrow! Please pray for them!
