- Murphy Bed Hardware can be a bit overwhelming when you start to look at options. Spring, Strut, Door Hinge. There are a few varieties but the cheapest assisted option is definitely the Spring style hardware kits you find on Amazon.
Like any good cheap Amazon product, these come with no instructions, no templates, no support. just metal springs and screws. Lets build together and figure out how to make these work on my latest build!

I just purchased these same hinges for a bed in my DIY Sprinter camper. Directions are garbage. I will be cutting down a foam mattress to fit the space, so every dimension is custom, and, at this point, unknown. It should be a bit of a pain to figure out. Your video is the most helpful I have found. I would love to have dimensions for the hinges. I am a Builder and Carpenter with 40 years experience, but some of these things still end up as trial and error jobs. Thanks

I think my "gas struts or gas springs" on my horizonal murphy bed/desk are not working. Bed is VERY HEAVY to lift up. What can I do?
you likely need to purchase a heavy duty strut that can handle your weight. the cheaper the kit, the less the struts can likely handle. just measure the size, and im sure you can find some replacements that will snap in. just take note of the size of the ball head on your struts, that and the fact that american sizing standards dont mean what they mean...i.e. 1in ball head is not really 1in.
May I ask a question on hinge placement. Wouldn’t the height of where the hinge is placed also be the height of the legs to the bed? So it’s level? With that being said could you give the length of the legs that are included?
legs are 14in from floor to top of leg. check the description as i have added a quick photo of the dimenions of the hinge placement, as well as my sketchup file
