What book would you have added to the list? Is it a book that is climbing out of the dollar bins or is it a book that is coming back down from higher value? Leave us a comment with the title, issue number and why you think it's a solid investment!
I'm guessing ASM #264 had a spike in relation to the market success of Insomniac Game's "Spider-Man" title on the PS4. The game features a heavy overlapping Story-Arc that introduces Silver Sable to our favorite Web-Head roughly halfway through the tale... In addition, ASM #344 is no longer a $20 purchase these days; so good call!
I bought them wherever I could find them back in the day! Comic shops, baseball card shops, grocery stores, mail order, you name it! Loved Spawn as a kid.
Great video and I think your picks are on-pointe! I’ve picked up a number of them from you, and you haven’t steered me wrong. Thanks for another great video!
@@walterrilling2501 we have a website, but I don’t put a lot on it for sale, as I prefer to sell at shows and conventions. That said, you never know what might happen in the future! Website is: www.comocomicbooks.com
Spawn is definitely on a lot of radars right now. The good thing is, they do t tend to be too hard to track down, which has helped keep the price affordable, even though it has appreciated over the last year.
Thanks Arny! Today’s $20 books could quite easily be tomorrow’s $50 books! The important part isn’t the ROI potential, but to enjoy your efforts in the hobby. As long as you’re having fun doing it, then it’s a win/win. Best case a book increases in value, worst case you experience the thrill of the hunt tracking a book down!
Great video! I'm trying to catch up on your library of comic-related videos so this comment is a bit belated. That being said, I noticed your "Real Ghostbusters" figures displayed on the shelf behind you. "Harold Ramis" will most certainly live on in our hearts forever; but be honest, is there anything cooler than an animated "Egon Spengler" sporting a blonde "Flock of Seagulls" hairstyle? 🙄 Classic...
That case has Real Ghostbusters and MOTU in/on. The one on the opposite side has my Transformers, Thundercats, Star Wars and a few of my higher end figs in it, while the one behind the camera is half TMNT, with a shelf of Jurassic Park and the balance is Food Fighters and Barnyard Commandos. The 80s/90s live on in the grading room.
@@CoMoComicBooks ... God bless you. If you happen to have a Wheeled Warriors sealed-in-box "K.O. Kruiser," I'm telling my wife it's time for a road-trip...
I think comic books are so cool! I don't have any in my collection but I love your content and I'm going to be looking into picking up some comic books!
Thank you for the kind words! The thing that can be lost in all of this talk about collecting and investing is that comics are supposed to be enjoyed! I hope you’ll find a character/series/genre that appeals to you and that you are able to base your collection on what you like! Welcome to the rabbit hole!
@@CoMoComicBooks really ASm 365? History have shown cameo/previews vs 1st app with character on the cover, the money book has always been book with character on the cover. Examples hulk 180 vs 181. X-men annual vs X-men 266.
100%! Spider-Man 2099 is EVERYWHERE. If I buy a 90s collection there is at least one copy in them. It’s not a hard book to find in high grade and the heavy stock and black cover of ASM365 make tough in high grade. Both are plentiful and we’re probably splitting hairs as it could easily be 6 in one and a half dozen in the other. As of right now, ASM365 has the edge in value.
Good stuff as usual. I'm surprised Spawn #1 is only 20$, I know there was a high print run on this book, and it's easy to find, but I recall it selling for much more at two different times years ago. Especially after the HBO series came out.
Just subbed after picking you up in my YT feed suggestions. Fortunately for me, I've already got over half of these, with a couple more already on my want list. All good solid buys. HOM #290 is a real sleeper, as is Batman #583. Thanks for sharing the info!
Thanks for the sub Tartan! The $20 price point is a revolving door of books coming in and books moving out (whether that is moving up or moving down), so it’s tough to catch every book at any given point! I’m glad you enjoyed the list and that you’re ahead of the game by having a good chunk of our suggestions in your PC already!
Appreciate you putting this helps. Pretty cool. It would be helpful, it you say which volume of the title. For example, there are so many series of Wolverine.
Hey Arun! The issue featured here is Wolverine Vol.1 #10. It’s is from the first on-going series, but was predated by the Frank Miller 4 part mini-series.
Thanks for the video. Amazing channel. I'm still a newbie and have some questions, if you don't mind to answer: from here (Brazil) it's difficult to get any great deal out of eBay, because the shipping costs are terrible... Have you some indications for goods seller's sites out of eBay/Midtown/MyComicShop? Is there any chance to get the Miles 1st variant one in the range of $30? What do you think of Moon Knight #1 (I'm just bought it and, I don't know, still thoughtful if was a good idea...). Best regards!
Hey Victor! Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I don’t have much of a solution for you. Most of the sites I know tend to be priced aggressively, but they’re all from top flight dealers, that typically only have really nice stuff. Shipping is still going to be a problem for you unfortunately. The market has shifted quite a bit since that video was recorded, so I don’t think you’d be very likely to find that issue at that price today. As for Moon Knight #1, I think it’s a good book. It’s quite popular with collectors, but is far enough down the line that investors are focusing on earlier appearances like Werewolf by Night 32 or Marvel Spotlight 28. I’ve sold a pile of them in the last couple of years.
@@CoMoComicBooks I have only just found this channel but if I had been watching and buying from your suggestions a few months ago I would be a bit less poor today!
Hey Katharine! These are definitely not books you are going to find in a graded 9.8 for $20. If you are a slab collector, particularly a 9.8+ slab collector, your basement level pricing is going to likely be $50-75 for less than desirable issues. The books on the list are issues that can be purchased raw in high grade for approximately $20.
@@CoMoComicBooks Thanks so much for replying and for the info!! I really appreciate it! I am SUPER new to this. What are some examples of places I can purchase these comics raw in high grade, for approximately $20?
CoMo Comic Books I’m also very very new to collecting/reading comics & wanted to know is there any new series of comics you’d recommend getting & holding onto? The goal is to have a complete set or series. Also my local store sells spawn #1 around 40$+ is that reasonable?
I’m not much of a new comic collector. Lots of volatility in the market right now with books blowing up on release day and price gouging on right out of the gate. From the outside looking in, Donny Cates’ Thor and Venom seem to be consistently showing up on other channels, so I might recommend looking into those. As for the Spawn 1, unless it is IMMACULATE (9.8 candidate) I’d pass at that price.
I saw a 9.8 Jim Lee #1 X-men asking price for over $500,000 yesterday. It seemed to be the tri fold variant, in the description it said white pages. I’m not familiar with that term but can’t think of any other reason it’s asking price is so high. Do you have any knowledge on this variant?
It’s the gatefold E cover. There is no reason on earth a copy of that book should bring that price. MAYBE if it was the sole highest graded copy at 10.0 signed by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, Chris Claremont and Jim Lee. Maybe… Even that seems disconnected from reality.
Hey Khan! Yep! At the time the video was made, all of those books were averaging raw sales prices in the $20 range. Many of them have increased beyond that now, some are even trending closer to $50 at the moment!!!
