It only took 30 seconds of watching my first video of yours and I had to sub. @ 4:28 that Joker cover reminds me of the first album cover for Iron Maiden. Anyway, I'm looking forward to catching up with your previous videos. Thanks
Thanks for watching Brewblaster!!! I’m thrilled that our content was captivating enough to warrant a sub after such a short time! I hope you enjoy catching up on our previous videos and are excited to have you as part of our community here on RUclips!
I only started collecting about 3 months ago and these videos are great for new collectors to get a better understanding of items to jump on. Keep it up awesome work
I just started watching, great great channel , and I hope this outbreak has not hurt your business to badly because we need our comic book stores to be around
Thanks for watching Willis! I’m fortunate, in that I don’t rely on comic sales for a living. No doubt that the circumstances have hurt us this year. We’ve done two shows this year, where we would have normally had 10+ under our belts at this point. I glad to have you in the community!
@@CoMoComicBooks oh how I miss going to shows , DC just got a con a few years ago , I missed last years because I went to wrestlemania,,so I was going on this year , but we know what happened next :(
This list showed me that I’m on the right track as far as my hunting goes! Gave me a new one or two to add to the list! So far I already have 2 out of 10. Got some work to do! Appreciate the videos as always!
Was a joy looking back...:) l have all the books on this list. And many in multiple copies. All raw goodness I enjoy flipping thru them. Well except the ultimate fallout. Most my copies still poly bagged. So those I leave alone.
HUGE Invincible fan! Have the entire story in floppies with multiples of the first 20 issues cause I knew early on the comic would blow up. And boy its paying off. Great video btw!
Thanks Jenny! Working on our next one now. It’s going to be something a little different: a product review! We recently acquired an awesome new collector accessory and have been spending a couple of weeks using it in preparation for this new video!
Thanks for watching and subscribing Gabriel! I’m happy that I can help you get a deeper understanding of our hobby! I appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to leave a comment!
Regarding the Detective 880 and your regret -- I hear ya talkin'. I sometimes brag that "I flipped my near-mint, value-stamp-intact Hulk 181 for a tidy 100 percent profit. Yessiree, I sure do know how to play the game." You guessed it -- I sold my copy for 50 cents. In about fall 1977. Doh! Double doh!
Stumbled across this video and very happy that I did. Great books in this video that are wise investment choices! I have the Nova 1 in a 9.4 and another raw one that is getting cleaned and pressed to be sent into CGC to hopefully add another 9.0+ book to trade/sell to fund some of the books that I'd like to pick up (some in this video like Sentry 1 and TOS 94). Thanks for the video and I've liked and subscribed! Continued success and good luck :)
Thank you so much Arny! Best of luck with your upcoming CGC submission! Sentry 1 is a tough book to find in the wild. I can’t recall more than 3-4 that I’ve ever come across at cons even. We appreciate you watching, liking and subscribing! Welcome to the community!
Yeah... Talk to any comic dealer or collector who has sold book, we all have a story like that. And I don’t even think that Tec880 is my biggest whoops. Hindsight being 20/20 and all.
Thanks for the kind words! I think the challenge there would be balancing my personal biases and keeping the list objective. Maybe it’s something we should take to the community? I provide a list of 25-30 contenders and the community votes for their favorite(s). That may be the way to approach it!
Sounds like a good idea to me! There are several books from that era that have seen solid increases in interest and value in recent years. Worst case: you’ll have fun revisiting your collection! Thanks for watching!
I would agree with you in many instances, however there are certain books that are cover driven that are an exception and I think this book is definitely one of them. That said, I consider most modern books of value to be flip books. Give me the Gold/Silver/Bronze!!!
Thanks for watching Chris! We definitely have more Top 10 Lists in the queue for you! I don’t think you’ll have too wait too long before you have a fresh one to watch!
Thanks Happy! Honestly, high grade raw looks to be moving pretty steady at $150-$200 for everything from 8.5s and up. Slabbed 9.2/9.4 copies are going for comparable amounts and 9.6s are trending around $225-$250. To me, the best bang for your buck appears to be the 9.6, but if you’re looking at it as a long term hold, I would pay up for the 9.8 which is currently trending around $450.
Nice list. I've actually got 7 out of 10 of these books, and multiple copies of several of them as it turns out. Need to send out another batch of books to CGC!
Keep looking at _Halfprice books_ stores you'll find it eventually. Same for (2009) _Legend of the Blue Marvel 1_ (which He Must Not know about) Now commanding $400+ (unslabbed) w/ the other mini-series ishs in the $20-60 range. Also, Keep Your eyes open for the (low printed) Tpb. It's over $200 now on Amazon! I found my second copy- sitting at my LCS for Cover price on 25% Off GN day nonetheless.
That’s awesome Cayla! As far as slabbing it, that all depends on what your intentions for the book are. Is it going in your collection for the long term or are you planning on flipping it? If you’re flipping it, slabbing is the way to go, especially on high grade copies.
Man it's funny, I picked up that Spider Gwen about 2 weeks ago graded at 9.6 and I already have the Ultimate Fallout also graded but I forget at what, go 2 of the Boba Fetts, been looking for a Nova and Sentry also.. great video
Nicely done sir! I let another Nova 1 go last week when I was splitting a collection up with the other co-buyer. I’ve got a couple copies at the moment and decided the two DC keys I currently didn’t have in my inventory would be the better option, compared to a third Nova 1.
I've wanted a sentry 1 for awhile but have yet to pull the trigger, I guess I better do it sooner than later. I have the ultimate fallout 4 second printing signed by mark bagley cgc graded 9.4. I bought a few months back and its crazy how the second print has gone up in price as well. Market drives the value, but its going to stay in my pc for now. Maybe ill get the first print one of these days.
I’m in the same boat on Sentry. I’ve been operating under the assumption I’ll come across one in the wild sometime, but that’s yet to happen. UF4 has great long term hold potential, whether you’re talking 1st/2nd print, variants, etc.
New sub to your channel and awesome advice and tips and look forward to more videos and we have a youtube channel as well. Loved the top 10 but that Star Wars 42 is fire :)
I have Nova, UF4 (1st print, 3 x 2nd print showing his head, 1 full headshot 2nd , and Italian printing of the really rare variant), Edge of spider-verse 2 (2nd print, 3rd print, 4th print, & 5th print) . Great video! I’m picking up Sentry on ebay today. I forgot about that book! Also, check out Savage She-Hulk 1. That’s going to be a big book. Thanks for the great info!
Sorry about that Efren! Thanks for watching! I was apparently a little amped up when I was mixing the sound. It drops out around the 4:25 mark, right at the start of #9, so the overwhelming majority of the content isn’t impacted.
Great list! Other books I would add to a list like this are Shazam 28 (1st Black Adam since Golden Age), Green Lantern 7 (1st App. of Sinestro) and Fantastic Four Annual 6 (1st Annihilus & Franklin Richards). Also, X-Men 129 (1st Kitty Pryde), X-Men 266 (1st Gambit) and Avengers Annual 10 (1st Rogue) have cooled down just a little bit, recently, where you can still afford a VF/NM- copy at a reasonable price.
All great picks! There is definitely enough material out there to put together a video just on previously Fox owned characters that Disney can now use in the MCU!
I’ve thought the same myself, but it is proving to be rather resilient. I could see the first print staying a 4 figure book in 9.8. Few characters from the last 10-20 years can go toe to toe with Miles from a popularity perspective. The real question is how high does a 9.8 of the variant go? That is the money book.
@@CoMoComicBooks Good question. And you already mentioned the 2nd printing of UF4 going up as well. I would look at UF4 the same way I look at Hulk 181. Only in the sense that everyone wants Hulk 181 (1st Wolverine), which drives that price too high, so people then turn to Hulk 180 (Wolverine's Cameo), which inflates that book to where it's high, but still fairly attainable. I think that's the same situation for the variant and the 2nd print of UF4.
Hey Daniel! I am! I had to take a bit of time off after spending too long out in the sun over the 4th of July weekend. I looked like a lobster. New video will be out this week!
Great list ! Would love to see an x-men top ten books list maybe ? I’m currently trying to pick up x men books I’ve missed before any MCU announcements .... all the best 👍
i bought nova at the comic store new. yes i got rid of my collection decades ago. i cant say i regret it, cause i cannot imagine how i would have held onto them all these decades. im not that passionate a collector for investment. i do it for the joy of collecting. that joy ended in 1980 when i became an adult. still love comics, and the movies, and the characters, and my memories, but i cannot reread these and dont have patience to hold onto them. but, you are correcdt, that is a great investment. get a mint copy now. and remember: if its joe sinnott, it will eventually be worth millions. he is so great its not funny.
Joe was super talented and had the good fortune of being so good at what he did he always got to work with the best. I think we can all appreciate the burden that is moving a collection from place to place over the years! I think you have a very practical approach.
Thanks for watching Brian! Unfortunately, Covid has definitely impacted the business, but fortunately it is not my primary source of income. I appreciate the well wishes and can confirm that while we are taking a hit sales wise, we are still out there wrangling up new collections and will hit the con scene in better shape than ever once all of this is over!!!
CoMo Comic Books *no offense* to you, the content or the channel but I hate it when it YTers take several minutes to get to the topic advertised in the title that got my interest to click on it. Especially when I’m new here.
I understand where you’re coming from. Brevity is not my forte, but is something I’m working on. Would it helpful for future videos if I drop a timestamp in the description for where the list starts?
I’d be curious what your top 25 or 50 would be? There’s so many issues to invest in, I just got a Strange Tales 109 CGC 7.0 and a Marvel Spotlight 32 signed by Stan Lee 9.0. I think now is the time to invest while the market is shaky.
You’re definitely right Dan! There are hundred, even thousands, of investment worthy books out there, it all depends on the investor and their interests and budget.
I want to get nova 1 9.8 cgc graded for my dad but I sadly don’t have the money. My dad has it when he was a kid and I wanted to give him something that we both can bond over
Hey Kaiju! There is some strong spec going on with Nova 1 right now, so 9.8s are definitely a little steep. If the connection is what you’re truly seeking, I would encourage you to pick up a nice high grade raw copy or even a higher grade slabbed copy under 9.8. Generally speaking 8.0s+ are very appealing visually and extremely collectible. Just a thought. Thanks for watching!
That’s awesome Brian! You can’t go wrong with X-Men 101! That book has the shortest shelf life of any book I put on my wall at a show! Rarely do I ever come back with one.
Welcome back Garran! Donny Cates has a run on Venom and Thor right now, which are both churning out book after book that take off in the secondary market. I would take a look at both of those. DC’s Dark Knights: Death Metal was significant and the relatively new Image series Ice Cream Man is getting a lot of attention as well.
I went hunting today for Ultimate Fallout, I've been seeing the print B variant alot, does it matter if you're buying that one rather than the first print vairant?
@@CoMoComicBooks Okay awesome, because I saw it raw for 150 in my local shops today, so didn't buy it. But I did pick up DC 880 Foil variant 9.8 graded for 140 which I think is a steal. Just getting into collecting.
The only thing sky rocketing is unemployment, all these comics are currently inflated and will come down in value. Be patient and don’t buy into the hype, wait till the market is flooded by supply.
i just picked up a raw sentry #1 for cheap price. Good spec book for future MCU good pick. Not the most powerful being in the marvel universe tons more powerful but thats for another time. Tec 880 is already an overpriced book IMO an often overlooked issue in same run by same artist is TEc 871 or 872 which are great covers and small keys. Invincible I wouldnt buy invincible because it has the same issue as walking dead #1 small print and already expensive due to the new show. Walking dead was a 10k book leading up to the show now it fetches only 1K. Invincible would have been a better buy a couple years ago. Nova, tales of suspense 94, xmen 101, edge of spiderverse 2 all great books. Ultimate fallout 4 is too volatile stay away right now we are witnessing a big sell off right now for atleast several months watch my video for more incite on that. When buying to "invest" meaning to potentially sell you have to buy when few are talking about the book/character some of these listed are already well known.
Thanks for watching! Definitely a few that are already in strong upswings, for sure. That said, depending on the success of whatever is in development, there is still an opportunity for some profit. The general scope I view these books through is that they are on the fence of accessible and inaccessible for a wide swath of the collectors in the market. From that perspective, I’m not advocating for them as maximum ROI opportunities, but rather books that have the potential to price themselves out of attainability in the relative short term.
It's already too late, and it's a shame because probably some or most of the owners of these comics have them to make profit, and we, the ones whom would like to read those stories and treasure them for as long as possible, will end up reading these on digital. About your video, I felt the intro quite long, and probably a tiny number on screen showing each of the comics on this top, would have been good. Other than that, you did an excellent work, nice content, music, arranges. Sorry about your DC 880. Kind Regards.
Thank for watching Tygrus! The train is definitely pulling out of the station on some of these, which is how I view the video. Kind of a now or never approach. The volume of speculation in the market is definitely a challenge for the reader or collector at the moment. I appreciate your feedback on the video! Numbers are something I’m working on! Thanks for your patience as I worked my way into the list.
Good vid but these picks are already "too late" picks. These books were already high to begin with. Better insight would be those "low" keys to look out for and not "keys" that are already selling for $300+.
Hey Chris! Thanks for watching! I mentioned this in a previous reply, but the intent behind the Before It’s Too Late videos is to highlight books that are on the fence of accessible and inaccessible to a majority of the collectors in the market. In my experience as a comic dealer, that range tends to lie somewhere between $300-$600 for most collectors. Mileage varies for sure, across the community. My range is higher than that, yours may be higher yet or even lower. And I’ll be honest, I think the word “key” is thrown around a little too often these days. Everything can’t be a key or nothing is really a key. There are plenty of low value spec books out there, but I prefer to leave those books to other folks to hype up. The potential for reward is higher with those books, but you’re also more likely to get burnt on the flavor of the week than with a book with proven desirability and demand. That said, we do have a video on $20 books and have a $50 book video in the works as well!
Thanks for watching, but it’s never too late! I can’t argue that if you bought all of these years ago you’d do better, but that’s the way it is for everything. The guys who bought Action 1 for 10¢ in 1938 would argue that buying one in the 50s was years too late. It’s all relative.
Greetings 😀. New to RUclips and found this super informative. Building dividend income is the goal. Having a systematic method I am finding super useful. A couple of the approaches I ramble on my videos and would be ace to get your feedback. Have liked to support the algo! Fifi 👍👯♀️

Hello by any chance are you going to do any new videos. We sure miss them and would like to see them soon thanks
Hey Daniel! I am! I had to take a bit of time off after spending too long out in the sun over the 4th of July weekend. I looked like a lobster. New video will be out this week!
@@CoMoComicBooks lol I hear you dude. Take care
Well I'm obviously late to this party. I need to get to work ASAP!!!
🤣🤣
It’s been a crazy year for comic prices. It’s like we’re all stuck at home surfing ebay or something.
Great list ! Would love to see an x-men top ten books list maybe ? I’m currently trying to pick up x men books I’ve missed before any MCU announcements .... all the best 👍
Hey Paul! I’ve really been considering that (doing a X-Men video)! Keep an eye out for it, it might just happen one of these days!!!
@@CoMoComicBooks Look forward to it :)
I got nova for 220 looks like a contender for 9.6 or if I'm lucky a 9.8
Good list. I have all of the comics except the Batman Joker cover and the Invincible. I have tried to get both in the past but both are very pricey.
Thanks for watching! They are definitely a little pricy, but always something I keep an eye out for!
I don't think that invincible #1 is his first appearance. I thought it was in Savage dragon. I can't remember the exact issue.
I believe that was a preview or a cameo type situation. CGC and CBCS both confirm Invincible #1 as Invincible’s 1st full appearance.
Hey Drew, I have several of this comics. I also have Detective Comic 880 graded 8.5 and signed by Snyder and Jocko
That’s awesome Dennis! Did you have the book signed yourself? Snyder is the nicest guy! So humble.
i bought nova at the comic store new. yes i got rid of my collection decades ago. i cant say i regret it, cause i cannot imagine how i would have held onto them all these decades. im not that passionate a collector for investment. i do it for the joy of collecting. that joy ended in 1980 when i became an adult. still love comics, and the movies, and the characters, and my memories, but i cannot reread these and dont have patience to hold onto them. but, you are correcdt, that is a great investment. get a mint copy now. and remember: if its joe sinnott, it will eventually be worth millions. he is so great its not funny.
Joe was super talented and had the good fortune of being so good at what he did he always got to work with the best. I think we can all appreciate the burden that is moving a collection from place to place over the years! I think you have a very practical approach.
Another great video. Hope the COVID19 pandemic didn't affect your business.
2:25 is where the list starts 😅👌🏻
Gotta set the table before you eat Max! 😉 Thanks for watching!
CoMo Comic Books If the overall demand is there for it, fella.
It seems that I‘m just the one and only guy „complaining“.😅
I’d be curious what your top 25 or 50 would be? There’s so many issues to invest in, I just got a Strange Tales 109 CGC 7.0 and a Marvel Spotlight 32 signed by Stan Lee 9.0. I think now is the time to invest while the market is shaky.
You’re definitely right Dan! There are hundred, even thousands, of investment worthy books out there, it all depends on the investor and their interests and budget.
Thanks for that JOCK, $1 still can't believe it! Jk, cool video man, tHumbs up from me
Yeah... what a bonehead move on my part. Thanks for watching!
At least I can say that I had the foresight to pick up Nova #1!
I’ve been in love with that book for a while now. I’ll be interested to see what other issues from the run take off once the spec becomes real!
@@CoMoComicBooks I'm hoping to see both Nova and Beta ray Bill in the Marvel cinematic universe.
Just picked up Nova 1 for under 63 bucks on eBay, nice copy.! Contemplating parting w/ about 300 bucks to acquire a decent copy of X-Men #101.
That’s awesome Brian! You can’t go wrong with X-Men 101! That book has the shortest shelf life of any book I put on my wall at a show! Rarely do I ever come back with one.
I have only recently got back into comics. Are there any comics that came out this year that you think will be collectable.
May I ask the name of the backround music! I am regretting not picking up UF4 earlier now..
I’ll have to look it up for you. I’ve used it in several videos now.
I am waiting for the Zatanna and Dark Hawk tpbs.
Lots of love in the community for those two characters!
@@CoMoComicBooks Wow. You know who they are. You are Underground sir or mam.
I went hunting today for Ultimate Fallout, I've been seeing the print B variant alot, does it matter if you're buying that one rather than the first print vairant?
The 2nd print is a solid book, but the 1st print will, most likely, always out pace it.
@@CoMoComicBooks Okay awesome, because I saw it raw for 150 in my local shops today, so didn't buy it. But I did pick up DC 880 Foil variant 9.8 graded for 140 which I think is a steal. Just getting into collecting.
Your background music is too loud and distracting. Great content from what I could hear.
Thanks for the feedback Scott. The song drops out at 4:25, right at the beginning of #9 on the list, so the majority of the content won’t be impacted.
Included my Detective 880 in a trade for ASM 129 9.0. On the hunt for another one.
That’s a pretty safe investment! Happy hunting! I have yet to track another copy down for my PC.
I got the one where Phoenix dies
X-Men 137 is a great issue!
What's a reasonable asking price for a X-Men #1 (1963) CGC 3.0
Looks like it’s averaging around $4,300, last sale was a bit more than that.
I used to have a few of these. I'm in KCMO.
Hey James! Thanks for watching! Hope to see you at a show someday!
Glad I got Nova and Invincible 1!!!
Thanks for watching!
The only thing sky rocketing is unemployment, all these comics are currently inflated and will come down in value. Be patient and don’t buy into the hype, wait till the market is flooded by supply.
Lots of prices are coming down in the market. These are either already on the rise or primed for a jump in value.
CoMo Comic Books agreed, as long as the market doesn’t crash completely. Tales of suspense 94 is massively underrated and still worth the risk.
Just bought a GL 87 for $650 cgc 9.2...with a yellow label Neil Adams sig.
NICE! That’s going to look awesome in your collection!
Planet con comes in August!
Nice got my copies of ultimate fallout 4. gotta get the fett man.
Thanks for watching!
i just picked up a raw sentry #1 for cheap price.
Wish we took your advice a year ago 😂🤦🏽♂️
Should I do a follow up on this video or would that be too painful? 😉
ASM and Uncanny X-men Titles only. You will go broke any other way. Trust me.
Having guidelines is important. Thanks for watching!
It’s years 2 late 4 all these books
Thanks for watching, but it’s never too late! I can’t argue that if you bought all of these years ago you’d do better, but that’s the way it is for everything. The guys who bought Action 1 for 10¢ in 1938 would argue that buying one in the 50s was years too late. It’s all relative.
I thought it was pronounced Missouruh?
Only when you’re singing the fight song!
Greetings 😀. New to RUclips and found this super informative. Building dividend income is the goal. Having a systematic method I am finding super useful. A couple of the approaches I ramble on my videos and would be ace to get your feedback. Have liked to support the algo! Fifi 👍👯♀️
Awesome content. Being a collector, and as I am sure most collectors should agree with, this is some really amazing information. Liked and subbed. If you guys are on Facebook, check us out at The Comic Guild, for buyers and collectors. If you have a FB page, please, let me know. Cant wait to see more vids. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Miles is so hot 🥵
Thanks for watching Tim! It’s crazy right? These recent 9.8 sales are making me 😳
