I love these videos, the lists are always diverse and you give good reason for each book's inclusion in the list; the downside is that it's even more books that I need to buy 😅
Swamp thing 37 is my fav on this list. Constantine is just one of the coolest characters in all of comics. And with a sequel movie in the works this could very well be DC top book from the 80s.
My comic book goals are to get X-Men #102. Transformers #1. X-Men #1. Ultimate Fallout #4, Avengers #196. Avengers Annual #10 & Marvel Secret Wars #8! That's only just a handful of books I want to get for 2021.
Hey Torri! Thanks for watching! Those are some good goals! I tell you, I’d focus on UF4 before it gets anymore out of hand. That thing is defying gravity right now.
Great video, love the fact that you hit a lot of old books. I just started collecting about 3 weeks ago, I'm focusing on Pre1990. I have collected 16 comics so far and have a couple of good ones, to name a few Action Comics #271, Batman #426, #428, #442 and Ironman #6. I have a lot of goals for this year but I like to find Batman #427 and #429 at the right price for now.
Welcome to the hobby Ernesto! It can be a lot of fun! Congrats on your initial pickups and best wishes for a successful 2021 to both you and your collection!
Rocken 4 out of 10. I think my best pick up was the power girl last year. Paid $75, pressed and cleaned it myself and pulled a 9.0 from cgc. Certainly a under rated, and under priced book. Keep up the great content!
I, too, have been in on Thor 225. DD 168 (and 131) are way undervalued IMO. Have you ever noticed just how many keys are issue 181 of their respective series?
DD131 is a ghost man! It doesn’t make sense. I rarely ever see them at shows. When I have a copy, it sells instantly. BUT the price never moves. It just stays there. I have one rule with DD131 when I do find them though: BUY IT.
My wife says my goals for the year are to grade more comics, and start selling off parts of my collection. I watch your vids to see what's hot. And you want to make me build my collection even more. LOL I started collecting Thor's as a kid at issue 229. Frustrating that I missed that Firelord on the spinner rack back in the day. Nice job again! You have gotten a lot more comfortable in front of the camera over the last few months. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching Jolt! Good luck with the collection, regardless of what direction you take it (voluntarily or involuntarily). I had the good fortune of getting into comics during the Clone Saga, so I really didn’t “just miss” anything, but there also wasn’t much that was noteworthy that came out once I started, for a bit.
Thanks for watching Todd! It’s a wild goose chase. Something new is always blowing up these days. It seems like every book is getting its 15 minutes of fame anymore.
Bruce? Who’s Bruce? 😉 If it were me, I’d go as high grade of a copy of Batman 181 as you can swing on your budget. I don’t think either one of them will disappoint though.
Star Wars 1 in 9.8 boomed in 2015. I bought a 9.8 for 700 amd sold it a month later for 2k when ep 7 trailer dropped. 9.8 and 9.6 are always a good buy Agree the 35 cent variant is a grail
Good stuff here Drew. I guess I ought to consider myself lucky to already have a great copy of Mighty Thor 225. My holy grail is still All Star Comics #58. I surely haven't seen it under $150 unless it is a truly crap issue. I'll continue to try to get a good copy this year just like I tried all of 2020 to get it. Keep up the good work with these videos!
Thanks for watching! I’ve sold some pretty nice copies VF/VF+ of All Star 58, definitely under $150. I don’t know that I’ve seen a raw copy at a show for more than $150. If you were looking online, I wouldn’t be surprised to see crazy asking prices.
Love the video and the channel always great advice. I’m happy I lucked out and already have a few of these like Star Wars #1, 2 copies of Daredevil 168/1st Elektra and 2 copies of the Hulk 449/1st Thunderbolts all in high grade.
Love the list you included ...interesting you mention at the end prices that go up can come down ... is there a top 10 list of books that values have dropped ? I’m just curious ? Great video as usual anyway, all the best 👍
Right on! Bueller is a very cool and funny guy. He is the only guy I know of talks about the fun and love of collecting comics Not speculation I dont know of any other. Your show is similar in your way. Passion for comics. I like the details of every comic you speak about. Later have a good one.
Great video! But I was hoping that Amazing Spider-Man 101 would be mentioned! (1st Morbius) I recently bought a raw copy that I am predicting to grade out around 9.4-9.5 for $1K. Good investment?
Great info Drew. That Frank Miller run is what got me into collecting. I was able to get Frank Miller to sign all my copies when we got him in the store I worked at. The Star Wars #1 35cent one was the first comic I remember that we sold for a high mark up, at a whopping 50$. We had a couple of them and I recall it sat on the wall for some time before snatched up. I can't remember why there were two different prices, but I think one was a direct to store issue only, maybe even the 1st one like that. Let me know if I'm correct.
They were released in certain test markets to see how the price increase played with customers. I believe there were 7-8 different cities that they tested the various price changes in. Hard to imagine in a world where $3.99-$9.99 priced individual issues are the norm that at one point in time going from 30¢ to 35¢ made them nervous.
Great list! Happy to see some books get bumped up a notch. One thing I would add about Batman #181, 1st Poison Ivy. The book came with a beautiful centerfold insert poster by Carmine Infantino of Batman and Robin, which may not be intact on many copies so keep a lookout!
I do feel cobra kai comic books will go up in value. The show is a success like the mandolorian and it’s such a short print run and low print run that it just has to take off.
Hey Drew, I just found this upload from you, the first I've seen and I've already subscribed to your channel! Keep up the good work. Just curious, when and how did you get a copy of FF # 48?
Hey Larry! Drew here. Now I’m really curious where the Bruce is coming from??? I bought my first FF48 back in ‘07 for all of $12. Since then, I’ve bought and sold multiple copies. Typically, they’re just in collections that I bring to the market. Thanks for watching! I greatly appreciate the comment, sub and your time!
@@CoMoComicBooks Hey Drew! Sorry about the Bruce. I saw a couple of comments and they both started with "Hey Bruce", so I wrongly assumed that was your name! Anyway, like I said, I really enjoyed this post and I'll be checking more of them out. I've got a great deal of comic war stories to talk about and I might post a few of them every once and a while. One quick one: about 3 years ago I went to an antique store in Greenville, NC looking for old comics. The owner told me there were some on the 2nd floor. When I got upstairs there were around 20 long boxes full of comics, all of them marked at $2 each. I was flipping through them, stopping to look at every 5th or 6th book. I got to about the 5th box when my eyes landed on an Uncle Scrooge book that looked vaguely familiar to me. I took it out of the box, pulled the comic out and opened it to the first page. Sure enough, a copy of issue 179 for $2! It was in around 5.0 to 5.5 condition and I sold it for $180 the following weekend! Anyway, I hope I didn't bore you or anybody reading this, but it was an exciting find to me and I hope it happens again one day! Thanks for listening to me and keep up the good work!
Great picks Drew! I saw your comment below regarding ultimate fallout # 4. What is your opinion on the books potential? Do you see it following a similar path as batman adventures # 12? Thanks in advance
UF4 is the ASM300 of the 2010s, especially the variant. I think few, if any, stars will shine brighter than it from the previous decade. Thanks for watching Patrick!
Hi, Drew! Great channel, thanks for the tips. I'm definitely not a grader, so maybe you can help me in a real situation right now: in your opinion, what is the approximate grade/value of a raw Swamp Thing 37 that seems kinda VF/NM, except for a damn color breaking crease in the cover, next to the bottom corner and the pages in off-white color? US$ 140 is the price. Worth it? Thanks in advance. What about 6.0/6.5 lookalike copies of Uncanny X-men 141? Do you see any future potential or it's just a fantasy of 90s kids / addicts in eye-catching covers, like me, haha? Great work, as usual. Best regards from Brazil.
Hey Victor! Thanks for watching. $140 for a 9.0 sounds like a pretty decent deal for the Swamp Thing. As for X-Men 141, it’s a classic cover no doubt, but it is readily available. If you’re looking for a future ROI, I would forgo the mid-grade copies and save up for a high grade copy. I wouldn’t expect any sort of sudden or significant increase in value with it, but a slow/steady increase over time.
That’s a great goal Aaron! You’ll be amazed how quickly you can save up for a bigger book when you trim down the ol’ pull list! Good luck tracking down your silver age keys!
Very nice! I’ve seen him at several cons and he always seems to really enjoy interacting with the fans! I’m glad you had a good experience. Nothing is worse than investing time and money and walking away with a bad experience.
Hate to admit it, but I'm not so sure about Swamp Thing #37. Swamp's has never really been a popular character(or particularly valuable). John has been waning in popularity for years. He's the least interesting character in the recent run of JL:Dark and just had another stand-alone title cancelled. Probably a book that will pop back in from time-to -time, but will it "grail"? Probably not.
Hey Mark! I think the future of this book hinges on a couple of things. 1st: copper age key issues are going to start getting additional attention in the coming years, as Bronze Age books begin to become less available and increase in price. 2nd: If Keanu comes back for a sequel AND that sequel is well done, that could expedite the increase in the book’s value.
@@CoMoComicBooks I'll agree with the Keanu appraisal, but I still think it'll be a fleeting rise. 🔥 Bronze is bound to become more valuable eventually. However, I don't think the rarity of the books is on the same level. There's plenty of mid-grade and better Bronze floating around.
Cool video and list. However, the background music is ultra annoying and drowns out the content of the video. I’d either get rid of it or turn the volume way down
Hey Matt! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the feedback. That song seems to cut through the mix a bit more than some of the others and I thought I had toned it down enough, but you’re not the only one who has mentioned it. Would you prefer it if the music dropped out completely during the content?
It seems like most videos on RUclips have background noise for whatever reason so maybe it makes the video more watchable? Not really sure though. I don’t think the music would be that distracting if it was at a lower volume though 👍🏻
There you go! I used to get bummed when I found 63s, but no 62s. Now that they’re calling 62 a cameo, I guess I don’t mind so much! 😁 Thanks for watching!
My goal is to get some key issues with 12 cent bubble price tales to astonish 35 for example I've always collected high grade books. Going to find midgrade raw copies think there undervalued ff 12
@@CoMoComicBooks Do you think Silver Age Flash will ever take off in values? Flash 112 - 175 high grades seem to be stuck in close to same values for past 10-15 years.
Hey Shiny! I haven’t caught wind of anything pertaining to Thor 137 just yet. For now, if you’re wanting to spec on a silver age Thor issue I would stick with 134, 165 or 168!
Most DC Bronze has taken monumental hits to values dropping off the cliff compared to even a few years ago. Marvel Bronze is egregiously overpriced, but stil a better bet than DC. That says something.
Hey David! Bronze is definitely in a state of change. Moving up, coming back down, going up again. As silver age continues to price many collectors out, I think it’s nearly a certainty Bronze will start to pick up steam, despite the ebbs and flows of value at any given moment. Thanks for your comment and for checking out the content!
Hey Sergio! That’s the point of the video sir! In the Comics To Invest In Before It’s Too Late series I try and populate the list with books that are on the verge of pricing themselves out of reach for a variety of collectors. Think of it as a “last call” kind of thing. Since there are a variety of collectors with a variety of budgets, I try to provide a range of suggestions. The cardinal rule of speculation is that if somebody is already talking about it, you’re too late. Thanks for watching!
I’ve always wanted a copy of Star Wars number one. I remember seeing it on the rack when I was a kid. I remember thinking it was stupid because I had just seen the movie why buy the book? Dumb kid…
I remember buying it when I was little but I was too little to know about Reprints and 2nd & 3rd prints. I thought I had a deal . Should have kept em. They still cost about $30 to $50.
@@CoMoComicBooks Lol. I remember looking up on the comic book wall in Moline Illinois at my favorite comic book shop when I was a kid and seeing amazing Spiderman 129 the first appearance of punisher. It was seven dollars. And I thought at the time, “that’s too damn expensive...”
I’ve got a video on the calendar that is more or less in the same vein as that story. I don’t know how well it will be received, but I think it will be fun!
C- level villains like Taskmaster never hold value long term. Easy too many concrete examples over the past 10 years. Never depend on a film or TV show to push little heard of disposable bad guys for long & never buy those a few months before a film or rumor release.
Typically I would agree with you, but Taskmaster has a solid following. That’s why I was so surprised by the deep drop in value of Avengers 196. I suppose the hype leading into Black Widow was such that he flew beyond his station without the film to justify/support the character.
Hey Jimi! Thanks for watching! They were definitely price variants. There were a limited number of test markets where Marvel would release books at a higher price before moving the entire line to the higher price to see what kind of an impact the price increase had on sales.
@@CoMoComicBooks oh wow, makes sense. def learn everyday. I didnt get into comics til well after highschool and this knowlage def helps looking around now.
Sorry to hear that. I thought that was just the way things went on RUclips, though I don’t believe I said anything in my most recent video. Likes/Subs/Shares are the least taxing and inexpensive things I can ask for from the audience for support.

Bronze is bound to become more valuable eventually. However, I don't think the rarity of the books is on the same level. There's plenty of mid-grade and better Bronze floating around.
Imma have to find #9.
It’s a good one! Not too difficult to track down either.
5 months later, AS 58 is STILL a ridiculous bargain. Any rumor of her in a DCEU property should pole vault this. Buy buy buy!
I was watching a CGC 9.2 copy in last week’s Heritage Sunday auction and couldn’t believe how cheap it went. That book has a lot of potential.
I really enjoyed the video....thanks! I just Sub'd
Thanks so much Steve! I’m glad you enjoyed the content! Welcome to the community! We’re glad to have you!
As always, great list of books! Shhhhhhh, lol. Some of these are secret gold. Actually, they're much much better than gold.
You’ve got to let the cat out of the bag on occasion! Thanks for watching!
Love that All-Star. Have a 7.5 WP and still can’t figure out why it’s not worth more!
Thanks for watching Jerry! It’s SUCH a good book. If you figure out what’s keep it down, be sure to let me know too!
It pays to be a Hulk fan, I bought 3 Tales to Astonish 63’s years ago. I also have 4 TTA 62’s. I see slabbing in my future.
I love the price bubbles too! Happy hunting!
I bought 5 of the Star Wars #1 from newsstand. Never should have sold them.
Hindsight is a universal standard amongst those of us that have ever sold books. Usually the kind of hindsight where we wish we had the books back...
@@CoMoComicBooks Do you think Silver Age Flash will ever take off in values? Flash 112 - 175 high grades seem to be stuck in close to same values for past 10-15 years.
Man, i have major seller's remorse for that Saga of the Swamp Thing 37. I let it go at one of my first comic shows.
All of us that sell or have sold have a list of books we wish we had back. Death, taxes, and seller’s remorse. Thanks for watching!
All newsstands before its too late.
It’s a decent strategy. I just picked up a collection that is about 75% newsstand this weekend. Most in VF-VF+ shape. I was pretty excited about that!
Definitely gonna get my butt in gear and finally find a copy of Daredevil 168
Somehow... I’ve managed to sell every copy of it I’ve ever had. That was dumb. So, I guess I need one too!
Is there any speculation on Thor 137 (first appearance of Ulik) considering it's a fairly cheap silver age key
Hey Shiny! I haven’t caught wind of anything pertaining to Thor 137 just yet. For now, if you’re wanting to spec on a silver age Thor issue I would stick with 134, 165 or 168!
Good Review, keep up the good work.
Subb'd
Welcome to the community! Thanks for the sub! I’m glad the content is providing you with value.
what about Sandman 1?
Hey Abe! Covered it in a previous video! Check out our first Comics To Invest In for $100 video from last March!
Fun to know i have most of these comics🤗
Well done! Thanks for watching!
Great list but it’s very reactive. Most of these books are on everyone’s radar.
Great info, always good to listen to an expert.
Thanks for watching and commenting everyone. I’m glad the content is bringing back some memories for you!
Varients in the 70's: was just priced wrong.
Holy asking for likes every single video gets soooo tedious, I CAN'T TAKE ANY MORE!
Sorry to hear that. I thought that was just the way things went on RUclips, though I don’t believe I said anything in my most recent video. Likes/Subs/Shares are the least taxing and inexpensive things I can ask for from the audience for support.
Great list!
Thanks for watching!
