I love the picks! I’m looking long term as well. A few picks of mine for this year is She-Hulk #1 and basically any Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1 books I can get my hands on. He’s definitely me and my kids favorite character by far
Those are some awesome choices, my dude! I think just about every one of those books has a chance of blowing up. There are so many characters that have a shot at being brought into the movies, especially on Marvel's side. Good luck in your hunting, Chris!
Really cool and diverse list. A little old school, a few newer titles. Some a little higher priced and a few that should be able to be had....kinda keeps it exciting throughout the year when you get to check one off, instead of going a whole year without knocking anything off your list. I actually have 4 on your list (I have Marvel Spotlight 28 and 29, instead of Werewolf by Night 33...that one is down the road)....I have Uncanny 266 and Ms Marvel 18 (as well as 16)..signed by Claremont, X-Men 50...signed by Steranko, who signed his whole 3 issue run...also told me he was the one who changed the X-Men logo and modernized it to what they still use, which was pretty cool...and Secret Wars 1.......good luck in your hunt and hope you get to knock a bunch off your list!!
Nice picks! I didn't know that about the X-Men logo! I love that logo and I hope they really stick with that in the future. It's timeless, simple and just works.
Great video as always bro, really enjoy your content, great stuff! On the Silver Surfer 6 info, Mephisto doesn't actually appear in that issue. After #3 (Mephisto's 1st app) he appears again in flashback in Silver Surfer #4. Then he next appears again (fully), in Silver Surfer #8. I think Silver Surfer 8 is a sleeper :)
Hey Chris great video, I took note of some of the issues on the list and I want to say thank you for your advice from the previous video of Thor issues key for the upcoming loki's show and I bought the Thor #245 9.4 cgc I'm so happy because is my first cgc in my collection and the price was right too thanks again.
Great video list, please do more! I like how you use NM 9.4 for your FMV to help with purchasing raws, as opposed to 9.8’s. So tired of hearing about 9.8’s. Not everything has to be 9.8. Keep up the great work!
When I was a kid I somehow missed the boat on Werewolf by Night #32 but was very fortunate to get #33. I also have two copies of GS Chiller #1. I will definitely search for MS. Marvel #18 and ASM #78 as well as X-men #266. Thanks for sharing you thoughts on the best books to purchase
Great list...I was lucky enough to be collecting comics in the 90's so i snagged up most of that jim lee uncanny x-men run so seeing 266 pop up made my day. Out of everything on the list, its the only book i have on it. Happy hunting everyone.
Sweet to hear! Yeah 266 was like right before I got into X-Men. At that point it was still TMNT adventures, Cap, Spidey and Disney stuff. My older brother and his friends were big into X-Men and they eventually got me into them and they were at the top of my list, but that was around the later 270s, and then of course the Jim Lee 91 series.
My 2021 want list is related to only 3 characters/teams, and is majority silver age: ASM 50 (round out my DD villain firsts, hope to have ordered by end of January) X-Men 266 (filling out bronze/modern X-Men keys, and this is my favorite that I'm missing) Ms. Marvel 18 (bronze age X-Men key) X-Men 94 (don't think I can get Giant Size this year, but if a Giant Size comes along, that could take the place of this book) Daredevil 2 & 4 (filling in DD 1-10 run, and these are two of my favorites) Flash 110 & 113 (filling in silver age Flash keys, and these are two of my favorites) Goal is to get at least 5 out of these 8 books and upgrade at least 1 key that I have now. Sorry for the mouthful😂😬 great video as always!
From your list, I believe Wonder Woman 204 (1st appearance of Nubia) is the sleeper choice with the highest potential. To add "fire" to this book, there are only (5) copies in CGC 9.8 (LESS than 3% of all graded copies).
I’ve checked a few keys off my checklist just this passed week. I won two fantasy football leagues and that more than covered the following, venom 3 3rd print 9.8, 4th print 9.8, teen Titans 12 high grade raw, Vader 3 aphra 2nd print, justice league 30/31 cruz books!! It was either all those books for a 5-6.5 CGC hulk 180, so I got the lot spread the wealth. Maybe I’ll hate that decision later but rn I do not lol. Love your list!
Thanks for watching! I don't think you'll hate yourself lol. I think you made a sound decision and got some great books! Hulk 180 will be there! I think those Cruz books were a nice timing because I don't think those have seen the last of their growth.
Joe, seeing as me not being able to get Hulk 181 because of high prices even at super low grades, I went ahead and bit the bullet and was able to get a Hulk 180 CGC 8.5 (blue label=MVS in tact) for $600 and a couple of minor keys as trade at my LCS! Good luck finding one! 🤞🏼
There are so many copies of marvel spotlight 28 and moon knight 1 that the undercutting is great. Now werewolf by knight 33, there are fewer copies than 32 plus werewolf by knight will have his own series and this cover has both on it. When collectors put all of that together it’ll drive #33 through the roof. The cover alone and the price is reason enough.
How do you define "1st full appearance"? Gambit shows up in 15 panels in UXM Annual 14, including dialogue. Definitely not a "cameo" as so many people have held as common knowledge for years. The only argument for UXM 266 is that it takes place first chronologically in continuity even though it was published *after* UXM Annual 14.
Appreciate the comment but every variable that you stated for Annual 14 does not equate to it being a "full" appearance. Dialogue does not matter. Also, there is not 'limit" to panels, especially when most of those panels that he is in, he is merely barely recognizable in the background with a dozen other people. I made a couple videos where I actually break down the definitions, and where I discuss the Gambit issues themselves. I definitely suggest checking those out.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture I agree with you in general regarding labels being what they are regardless of what the market is trying to dictate. My problem is clearly defining the labels and even in you previous video where you use Gambit as one of the examples you did stumble on that one a bit and rightfully so. UXM 14 isn't, by any reasonable definition, a cameo appearance. You gave you reasons why UXM 14 doesn't constitute a "full appearance" so my question is, what exactly is a 1st "full appearance"? How many panels/pages does the character have to appear in? How much dialogue is involved? Is it necessary for them to be on the cover? If somebody doesn't have concrete definitions then the market does have some influence in the matter.
@@paulholloway9760 Paul, Annual 14, by ALL reasonable definition, is 100% a cameo appearance. The "concrete" definition is in the 200 year old dictionary. But, to your credit, I do agree that the industry itself needs to clarify standards instead of having us rely on precedent and textbook definitions. Still though, there is enough concrete evidence for this NOT to be subjective in nature, and I guarantee that I could take this to court and win. A FULL appearance, first and foremost, has nothing to do with body parts. So many people argue, "well you can see him from head to toe, so he appears in full." No, not how it works. FULL pertains specifically to the characters involvement in the story. Is the character a main antagonist or protagonist throughout the bulk of the story? Is he/she and integral part of the story itself? And most importantly, if you remove the character, will it alter the story? If you answer yes to those questions, it is almost without question a full appearance. Now, Venom showing up on two panels, and then a full page in ASM 299, where he has multiple text bubbles and introduces himself, is more integral to the story than Gambit is in Annual 14. Let me give you a movie example that you can use as at least a rough basis. The Ancient One in Endgame. That was 100% a cameo appearance. If there was a comic version of endgame, Ancient One's time on screen and dialogue would have resulted in multiple panels, on multiple pages. So do you see what I'm getting at? If you line up all the bulletin points that make a cameo and that make a "FULL," and you do a checklist for Annual 14, I guarantee you that the majority of your checklist that is marked off will be the one for cameo. Gambit has absolutely nothing to do in that story to impact it, he only has one main page of talking, where he didn't even say that much, and then he disappears and then shows up in the background randomly over a few pages spread out through the book, where you could barely notice him. That.... is NOT a full appearance.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture I apologize if you're gotten the impression that I'm trying to say you're wrong as that wasn't my intention at all. I was trying to more fully define, specifically in comic book terms, what a full appearance is. For the record, I pretty much agree with everything you've said. I think part of the issue is how comic book readers define cameos and how that influenced me years ago when I first began collecting. I've just started getting back into collecting and this is an issue I've been doing some thinking about as a result. Thanks for your time and insight.
Glad you pointed me here..... somehow I missed this one. Already found the #1 thing I was looking for in 2021..... a captain Britain vol 1 #1.... raw and it’s gonna be at least a 9.0
I think Amazing Spider-Man #257 is a good spec book because it's the first appearance of Ned Leeds as Hobgoblin. Some people are saying the actor is losing weight to become the Hobgoblin in any future MCU Spiderman movie.
Pick up that X-men 266 now. Few years ago I had a chance to pick up ASM 300 at a decent price but I didn’t hoping for a dip. I prob won’t ever own 300 at this point. BTW pick up a Nova 1 before it’s too late. Also X-men annual is a good spec even if it’s cameo.
I would love to have your opinion on Adam the legend of the Blue Marvel, I know it's not a Silver age Comic I think it as a lot of potential....This love the channel.
Appreciate the support and the comment! Yeah a lot of potential there for Blue Marvel. Obviously the book is hot right now.. I think the health of this book has to do with what they do with the character moving forward. That goes for in the comics and if we see the character in the MCU at some point. I could absolutely see this book dipping if the character isn't utilized in the near future, but I think over all there is absolute potential.
Forgot to give my picks for the year... Silver Surfer 4, FF13 (1st watcher), FF20 (1st molecule man), and FF11 (1st impossible man). I figure I'll try to continue grabbing Silver Surfer vol 1 issues considering how I got 1-3. The others will help me move forward with completing my collection of cosmic power characters (molecule man, watcher) and I just love Impossible Man 🤣 I'll be looking for LOW grades on these books but I anticipate getting lucky! I'm getting into the old books that go for a lot of cash for issues that look like the dog chewed them up 🤣
lol I hear you about the dog chewed books! It's getting tough, but you can do it! I'm slowly working down more into the silver age fillers of my runs, including FF.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture I think going for runs with silver age books is out of my budget... at least not until I cash out in crypto! 🤣 If I can find a reasonable Silver Surfer 4 I'll probably try to finish that run. I commend you for the patience and wisdom required to work towards completing entire runs! 🤣🚀
A lot of comics are definitely commanding a premium right now and it’s definitely getting harder to get books in a great or higher presentable grade...these are all great choices and will keep my eye out for the ones I do not have 🤘...
Haha😂😂🤣 I find it funny first appearance of gambit Cgc price is lower to raw price that proves no matter what company grades your books price remains same
I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say. You have to keep in mind that the cgc is for a 9.4. That raw high price is most likely for a book that is clearly 9.8 potential. And those numbers have nothing to do with fmv of books graded by other grading companies.
Hercules would be a no-brainer for Marvel to bring to the big screen but right behind him would be Zeus. The Lord of Olympus is a powerful as Odin, since the MCU is going more Cosmic with Godlike and ultra powerful characters, Zeus would be a nice fit.
Great list jerno you got a great list there. I got my list up on my channel and yes Werewolf by night 32 is there along with some other bronze and golden age books
I have 9 of 13 of these books all in 9.2 or better including amazing 50. Missing the silver surfer thor wonder woman and werewolf by night. Just picked up a 9.6 of chillers restart the year myself. great content and video!!
Hi Bonita. No, there are many copies of Wolverine #1 available on the market. But the book is gaining demand and continues to increase in value. Last summer, a 9.8 copy sold for $500. I have not looked at FMV recently though.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture I have an excellent one and it's a No.#1 and a No.#1 issue. I'm going to have it graded and put it in Heritage as I think it's going to bring top dollar. Do you have any advice for me?

Great list!!!! I have a big one my self . My top 1 is iron man #1 I am going to collect iron man 😃. I hope you can het the books you want this year !!!!!!
I agree. I think we've talked about this before. I don't think he gets talked about enough in general of the impact he made not only on Marvel, but on the evolution of comics in general.
The highest sale for a cgc 7.5 is 1149.00. It's getting there. A more accurate FMV for that grade over the last couple of months would be more around $950.
dude 1st Prowler (Aaron Davis) from Spider-Verse is Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 1. The one you are promoting is Hobie Brown. It is two different people.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture It's still two different characters. In the Spider-verse and Spiderman Homecoming both mentioned in this video are Aaron Davis. "Promoting" is a short way of saying, "In your Top Key Comics To Invest in for 2021 video". Keep making videos they are entertaining. Oh and GPA rocks.
@@roshawnrobinson5891 You are correct that they are two different people and I could have brought that up for context, but I was conscious of the fact that I'm not promoting the first appearance of the Ultimate Prowler, but of the original Prowler. The hype of the Ultimate Prowler has caused this book to gain momentum as well. But to your point, if we were talking about speculation, the Aaron Davis' first appearance definitely needs to be talked about.
I agree. I think there are a lot of solid X-Men related keys that haven't received the demand that we think they should. I don't think that will last too much longer though.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture Almost 5k people watched that and even if 1% buy the books you recommend then that's 50 new people searching for the books that raise the price. I'd buy them THEN promote them. :-)

Waddup Chris!! Great picks
Thank you!
Sometimes I just hunt for nice variant covers. It doesn’t matter if is a key.
I dig it!
The others will help me move forward with completing my collection of cosmic power characters (molecule man, watcher) and I just love Impossible Man 🤣
I'll be looking for LOW grades on these books but I anticipate getting lucky!
Appreciate you man! I took your advice on that MP #13 and was able to grab one for five bucks!
What great show ill be on a look out for theses books
Thanks for watching and good luck!
ASM 50, Wonder Woman 204, x-men 266 would be my top 3 of this list
Nice top three! Thanks for watching!
I'm with you. I really hope Eternals opens the door for so much of this "realm" of things.
Great list jerno you got a great list there. I got my list up on my channel and yes Werewolf by night 32 is there along with some other bronze and golden age books
Sweet!! Just subbed you up and I'll have to check out your vid!
@@JernosComicsPopCulture thanks I really appreciate it!
Those are some great books to invest in for 2021👍👍
Thanks Isaac! I love your new thumb nail image!!!!!
Need that avengers 23 sick cover
Right?
I have 9 of 13 of these books all in 9.2 or better including amazing 50. Missing the silver surfer thor wonder woman and werewolf by night. Just picked up a 9.6 of chillers restart the year myself. great content and video!!
WOW!! To have those in those high grades is something! Congrats to you!
@@JernosComicsPopCulture youtube rush diehard and my only video. if you have time. no screwing around. trust me. haha. great channel!!
@@rushdiehard8784 Thanks, I'll have to check it out!
Good picks. Giant-Size Chillers is waaaay underpriced.
Thanks! I agree...
Is there only one copy of the no.1 issue of the 1982 comic Wolverine in existence? How much did it sell for?
Hi Bonita. No, there are many copies of Wolverine #1 available on the market. But the book is gaining demand and continues to increase in value. Last summer, a 9.8 copy sold for $500. I have not looked at FMV recently though.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture
I have an excellent one and it's a No.#1 and a No.#1 issue. I'm going to have it graded and put it in Heritage as I think it's going to bring top dollar. Do you have any advice for me?
Good solid list.
Doorway into nightmare 1 1st madam Xanadu is a sleeper and affordable
Ah good call, I do not own that one!
@@JernosComicsPopCulture I just watched comic toms new show
I swear he shadows all of our shit that’s why he waits so late to post a vid.
Just my thought take it w a grain of salt
@@pkeel7576 I may have to check that out! lol
Beyonder in Secret wars and with Molecule Man is one of my favourite combos in marvel comic stories of all time :) Nice Choices on all of these books. I am all for 2nd appearances when 1sts are on the crazy price side, unless one crops up cheap.. lol... Greetings from Scotland :)
Yes Yes! Or Cameos! lol.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture lol @ cameos. Yes those too :D haha
Molecule Man was one of my favorites too!! Loved that Marvel story!
Agreed on Gambit! 💯 👏
Thanks for tuning in!
Great list!!!! I have a big one my self . My top 1 is iron man #1 I am going to collect iron man 😃. I hope you can het the books you want this year !!!!!!
That is one I do not have as well! Good luck on the hunt!
great books
I have 2 9.9 so far in this run
HOLLLY HELL!!!! Who do you know at CGC? lolll just joking. Congrats!
Xmen 266 is one.
I’ve always been a fan of the prowler and never once realized how much spawn was inspired by him-great observation
Right? Thanks for stopping by!
How come Marvel Team Up Annual #1 with early XMEN appearance gets no love?
Very good point! I do think that annuals and giant size one shots are actually starting to become more recognized.
Secret Wars was Jim Shooter at his best. I don’t think he gets enough credit as a comic writer.
I agree. I think we've talked about this before. I don't think he gets talked about enough in general of the impact he made not only on Marvel, but on the evolution of comics in general.
Loved Jim Shooter!!
Too bad Plazma was so short lived,I really liked that that run
I took a shot every time you said asset and now I can't really type anyadfadgadfgjfga
haha damn, I hope you aren't in my time zone because that means you got to it bright and early in the morning! lol
@@JernosComicsPopCulture hahah just busting your balls man I think your advice is great
@@256kar lol appreciate it!
I'm trying to make ASM 50 my next grail
Hell yeah!!
Cool, I have Wonder Woman 206 the origin of Nubia cgc 9.6. Thanks
Heck yeah! That's another one I'll be looking out for. Love that cover as well.
It's time to risk it for the biscuit
hahaha Can't argue.
I have the Secret Wars #1 you have in this video.
Awesome!
Asm 50 7.5 for $750?? That has not happened in months
This video is almost 5 months old.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture oh man it is. Haha. I just watch whatever I can
Lol appreciate you watching!
Dang ASM50 7.0 are going for $2500 now…
Yeah it's nuts. I think I missed the boat on this one.
I got that Dracula book...got for 5 bucks
Nice! Definitely much more than a 5 dollar books these days!
Omg I just sold thor 126 as well 😱 for cheap toooooo omg
Damn wish it was to me! lol
Donofrio IS the Kingpin
Ain't that the truth!
ASM 50 7.5 goes for about 1100-1300
The highest sale for a cgc 7.5 is 1149.00. It's getting there. A more accurate FMV for that grade over the last couple of months would be more around $950.
@@JernosComicsPopCulture White pages also command a premium. Great video btw !
@@miguelh4750 Absolutely. I think that element is definitely overlooked. A 7.5 ASM 50 off white pages is much much different than a 7.5 white pages.
Double in price in a year for the same grade asm
dude 1st Prowler (Aaron Davis) from Spider-Verse is Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 1. The one you are promoting is Hobie Brown. It is two different people.
It's still "the Prowler." It's a mantle. The character "the Prowler" has become more popular due to that film.
And I'm "not" promoting. I merely mentioned that we saw "The Prowler" in Into the Spider-Verse. I think you're reading a little too much into it.
Keep in mind this is my personal want list, and not just a spec list.
Shockingly I at least have the silver surfer 6 😂
Hell yeah!
That stuns me that Ms. Marvel 18 is such a low price, 185 for a 9.4 CGC, especially for the first appearance of Mystique.
I agree. I think there are a lot of solid X-Men related keys that haven't received the demand that we think they should. I don't think that will last too much longer though.
This aged well
Omg!!!!!!!!!! I just sold that for almost nothing!!!!!! 😱
The chillers #1 that is. 😔
Ahhhh bummer!
I gotta say I like the batman
Absolutely!
Chris I got a beautiful Secret Wars number 1 for sale
Oh yeah? Hit me up! captainjernocomics@gmail.com
Top keys to invest in for 2021? I believe the short answer is ANY of them.
I got the gambit 9.4 $100
Nice score!
Anyone that thinks 266 is gambits first appearance must not be able to read.
I'm not even going to entertain this comment.
Guys
lol... yeah?
Your crazy to spec books you don’t own
lol Why do you say that?
@@JernosComicsPopCulture Almost 5k people watched that and even if 1% buy the books you recommend then that's 50 new people searching for the books that raise the price. I'd buy them THEN promote them. :-)
@@bjnowak LOL Hey, you're right. Then I would get blamed for manipulating the market lol.
