My dad had the original avengers comic for a while, but then it got stolen by a ‘friend’ of his. He still has a ton, and it’s really cool to be able to go through and read them. When I was younger I just really liked looking at all the ads in them 😂
New series alert! I find this stuff really interesting. In particular, I think it'll be interesting to see the prices of the same books, but with different grades.
I had to subscribe based on the strength of your passion for the one and only Frank Castle aka The Punisher. He's been my all time favorite since I was about 8 years old when I saw that #1 limited series issue on the wall of my local comic book store. That's also my favorite cover and looking at my 9.4 on my shelf everyday got me back into collecting. I could only imagine your excitement getting that back from CGC after holding on to that book for so long and being such a fan. Congrats on that and thanks for sharing. Awesome collection! Gonna watch part 2 right now💀👍
I had the original first issue of "The Eternals". Boggles the mind to see what it is worth today. I also had a number of comics ordered from Mile High Comics back at the start of the 80s. Alas i don´t have them anymore. They would be worth quite a bit today.
Love them both. But if I had to choose, the books would definitely be king. The statues are there to remind me of the comics. It’s definitely a trip seeing what people are paying for these things! Glad I got in on it in the 80’s!
@@DTsGEEKSHOW : I made the mistake of collecting #1 issues of comic books in the 80’s. I thought if you had the very first issue of a comic, it would be worth something later down the road. Now I see it’s all about 1st appearances of popular characters or certain storylines that are actually worth more. If only I had a time machine. 🤔😆

First of all great videos, good job! I got a question? Where would you put Journey into Mistery#85 and If you can tell me which one is better in your opinion between JIM#85 and Daredevil#1 (1964)
I understand the appeal of physical comics and the such I mean I have the same sentiment for video games but on marvel unlimited they have basically all of the Star Wars and Marvel Comics for I think 60 bucks a year I don’t think there’s anything like that for DC so that I understand but why pay so much for the comics on the service physically when you can get them easily through the service again I understand the appeal of a physical book but it’s also expensive to get the comics
No doubt, if you're objective is to read the stories, digital is the way to go. There are digital option for DC and other publishers through Comixology. I don't like it as much as Marvel Unlimited and the pricing structure is not as simple and straightforward. Collecting the actual books is a whole other thing. It's more about the appreciation of the history and art. It's kind of like admiring Mona Lisa in a museum vs looking at a photo of it. Owning it would be the ultimate comparison. Of course, one is going to set you back a ton of money and the alternate is virtually free. Same with comics. It's not for everybody. But well worth it for those that find value in that sort of thing.
What about comics without the certification or that hard cover? I have 1000s of them in sleeves in boxes but have no idea how to go about figuring what's valuable

Those are the grade given by CGC (Certified Guaranty Company - professional grading company). They assign a grade from NG (0 - no grade) to 10. In many cases, 9.8 is the top grade given to many books. There are rare occasions where a 10 is given.
Don't you think CGC destroyed comic collecting ? There's no banter, no haggling, no speculation, no room for movement on price to negotiate. I love meeting people with comics that are raw and talking and negotiating... CGC just cuts out all fun of trading and collecting and speculating. Now as soon as a comic is printed they're bricked in the plastic. That means the comics that are valued ...because they're so rare for their condition , will allllll be CGC high grades. If I buy a new comic gonna look for the top and only submit it if it's top tier. Just seems off.
While there are definitely downsides of graded books, I wouldn't say CGC destroyed comic collecting. They definitely changed how the game is played. For me, I like the peace of mind I get from buying graded books. Back in the day, I remember ordering off a random price list with no photos and just trusting a stores opinion of the grade. I received books where the grading was questionable, restored, or missing inserted items. For the latter two, I didn't even know there was an issue until decades later when it was brought to my attention. I also enjoy the displayability and the fact that I can pass a slabbed book over to a non-collector and not get nervous about them bending it. As far as the social aspects, I think it still exists. It's just in a different form and people are debating on the condition of the book. Grading has definitely made the market more efficient and it is much harder to find the the deals. But with things like cleaning and pressing, they are still out there with graded books. Again, the rules of the game are just a little different. I'm not much of a new comic collector. So I can't attest to the practices of new releases. But I will buy a new slab if it looks like it'll look good on my wall.
