I absolutly adore Monster Hunter Rise and Sunbreak. Sure I may be biased as it was my first Monster Hunter game ever, but it just has so much fun and cool stuff to do! I wish you an awesome time experiencing Rise and Sunbreak Khor! I´m looking forward to more.
It’s a shame that a lot of people who joined the series with World skipped this game because it wasn’t as visually detailed as World. I’d argue it’s just as good as World overall, if not better.
I have over 500 Hours on both games & they are both really nice, and Rise is very good mechanically, but that's pretty much it. World has better visuals, lore, progression, (except for the "collect track" bs), and better worldbuilding.
Honestly, I find myself preferring Rise’s design philosophy overall. World’s world was certainly pretty and fun to run around, but it had a lot of questionable design choices like the multiplayer story progression, RNG decos, and the Clutch Claw. I still love the game, though.
I don’t mind the “gamey” feel of Rise at all. It makes it feel like a Pre-World MH with World’s refined controls. World’s out-of-combat monster AI is neat, but its in-combat AI left a lot to be desired.
@@JGuy97 Ah, I mean I get it as we have preferences but keep in mind that World was supposed to be the better game, and rise was supposed to be the "mess around and test stuff" game. Refer to the 2 game cycle that capcom refers to when making mh games. They make one that is serious, and another which has experimental features such as the wirebug. In the end, play whichever one you prefer, don't let anyone ruin your fun
The way I usually describe Risebreak vs Worldborne is - Worldborne is a better "experience". It is designed to be more cinematic, big, eventful - to the point that sometimes it feels you are going through scripted and on-railed experience. Risebreak is a better "game", it just gives you tools and fun mechanics to just GO! It's you vs a monster, the map is an arena - that also makes it feel like a stage rather than an environment at a certain point - every interactable wildlife has a "function" that makes them feel like tool rather than world building. I personally prefer Risebreak just because I like the less constrained approach. But I understand why people that came from Worldborne might feel underwhelmed.
This is a good way to describe the two games. I love them both and i'm a long-time fan of MH. World is definitely more about the environment and exploring. I play Rise when i'm in the mood for zoomies. I play World when I want to immerse in the hunt.
I absolutely love this game. Like many, World/Iceborne was my first monster hunter game, but I've seen people hate on Rise and I don't get it. It's a different flavor of monster hunting and it's so fun and addictive with amazing gameplay. I love that the games can feel so different, yet have the same amazing core gameplay loop. If these games were all too similar it'd get boring.
Risebreak was my first monster hunter. I really love this game. It’s snappy, Arcady and just hectic fun. The design philosophies are very different from Worldborne to Risebreak. I think they both have pros and cons. I have about 1200 hours in each game and I find it really depends on my mood which one I prefer.
I second this, I find the fast pace of risebreak works really well when you play it on its main selling point being a handheld game. I do prefer world overall if I'm playing ona console or pc though.
My first MH game was Rise on the Switch and then got it again on Deck Oled (HDR support is nice). It is so much fun and I like the Rampage missions since it is like a tower defense with you in the action. I started out with the Insect Glaive and found out it is not meant for a beginner, so I just watched a lot of videos to explain it well (now I can't play with another weapon since they are so agile). I haven't started the DLC too since I need to do so much missions, but I love my pets in combat and movement.
I recently got the platinum trophy after almost 400 hours of gameplay. I didn’t cheese the main game and played through everything before Sunbreak. I just finished Sunbreak, and yes, it’s definitely better to rush through the Rise campaign and get to Sunbreak as quickly as possible. The gameplay there is much faster, and the techniques you unlock are really cool to use-most of them are fantastic. There’s a lot of content in Sunbreak, and I genuinely believe it’s better to reach it quickly to fully enjoy the best parts of the game.
People forget, World is a cinematic immersive experience for normies who never experienced MH, and Rise is for the Veterans who enjoy the original formula. if u like world more than its assuming u started on World, Its a diff feeling when u played since PS2 era like me and u prefer the original formula that made MH what is today.

I started my MH journey with 3U, and I put nearly 500 hours in Rise/Sunbreak so far with more to go too! It’s been such a fun game, and the movement options you get feel SO good. I wasn’t huge on wirebugs at first but now I love them, I even found myself going to bug away in my replay of World as I get ready for Wilds!
Going back to World would for sure be trippy after getting used to the wirebug in Rise lol Also completely agree! I dont have nearly that many hours, but my first 10 hours, I didnt find much use outside of climbing with the wirebug so it felt unnecessary. Especially as an Insect Glaive user since i can just jump away from attacks. but even with an insect glaive, I've found it to be extremely useful with dodging, initiating attacks, etc.
Glad to hear you're liking rise. I'm still progressing through the hub quests myself, but I like the game a lot. Judging by the footage I'm assuming you main insect glaive. I also main the glaive, because I think it's just super fun to use
Yeah I used insect glaive a lot in MH World so I just kind of stuck with it lol I've been trying the other weapons as well but I've been enjoying the faster gameplay and mobility. The dual blades are also a lot of fun!
This was my first MH game-- I got it a few weeks back in a sale and already have 150+ hours. Needless to say, I'm loving it. It's so easy to jump into a solo quest, but also fun to join a lobby and get into some shenanigans.
