That's the helicopter model my cousin flew in Afghanistan. RIP Michael Montgomery Night Stalker CWO 4.
Sending my condolences to you and your family, Rest in Peace my Brother in Arms.
One of the best Chinook videos I have ever seen. Kudos to the author. No unnecessary BS, excellent clarity, excellent stability. You could actually still see the "clark-y" shape of the blades when they were nearly at speed. I enjoyed this video thoroughly.
That has got to be one of the most creative backtaxis I’ve ever seen. Amazing machine👏
Great catch of a MH-47G Dark Horse!
Such a cool Chinook! I’ve never seen so much skill from the aircrew to squat on the tail wheels while backing up and steering!
You and me both! Great piloting. It was amazing to see it in person. I have seen that type maneuver before in some videos of the RAF Chinook demo team.
It is a standard Chinook maneuver. ANY chinook pilot can do it. Same for two aft wheel landing only or a single front wheel landing on right side to load/off load PAX.. Basic stuff that you learn in qualification school. If you can not do that you do not belong in the front seat. Nice video though.
Geezer didn’t know that! Helo
Pilots are sick.
@@averyl7146 That is true we are very sick. Chinook pilots are worse because it takes two rotors to keep us busy. Double dysfunction. They put a ramp on the back so we can tell one end from the other. 😜

I recently read “Making of a Nightstalker” great book and I’m watching this prep etc and what I learned from that book is filling in the blanks. Great stuff 👍
That's a cooler version of the Chinook
Awesome catch and video 👍👍👍
It's so Beautiful😊
Nightstalker crews don’t get a break, my friend... NSDQ !
I can't believe it taxied backwards
That Chinook is just how I love my women, Big Black and Beautiful.
The crewman booting the port aft landing assembly before the reverse wheelie taxi turn commenced.....ground steering failure ? 🤔
Hmm?!? Good question. I don’t know the answer. Maybe someone out there has had this experience before and can comment about it. Let’s hope so. Cheers!
1 question what color is this chinook thanks
Top gun rc The chinook is a weathered and worn black color.
Thanks
Do you see these often? I have never see An mh47 and really want to but I don’t know where to look for them
I have had the opportunity to see these MH-47 Chinooks several times. They stop off at my local airport to refuel from time to time. There is no set schedule for their comings and goings. I just see them fly by and I run to TRI to catch them departing. They travel to and from Fort Campbell in KY. So watch the flight radar apps for helicopters coming to and from there. Cheers!

Hey Daniel, hope you enjoyed those 26 seconds of video. Because I am sure that is the max your attention span can handle before you are running off to find your next quick fix. But who am I kidding?!? A four sentence reply and you were gone as soon as you finished the first sentence... :) Cheers!
Now India too operates this Awesome Aviation Bird
Nope, India operates standard CH-47F chinook. This is US special forces only, twice as expensive
@@laracroft938 same bird with different Systems
MH?
Hello condos. Here is some information on the MH-47 Chinooks:
MH-47D
The MH-47D variant was developed for special forces operations and has inflight refueling capability, a fast rope-rappelling system, and other upgrades. The MH-47D was used by U.S. Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. 12 MH-47D helicopters were produced. Six were conversions from CH-47A models and six were conversions from CH-47C models.
MH-47E
A US Army MH-47E Chinook with in-flight refuelling probe, lands aboard USS Kearsarge
The MH-47E has been used by U.S. Army Special Operations. Beginning with the E-model prototype manufactured in 1991, a total of 26 Special Operations Aircraft were produced. All aircraft were assigned to 2-160th SOAR(A) "Nightstalkers", home based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. E models were conversions from existing CH-47C model airframes. The MH-47E has similar capabilities as the MH-47D, but includes an increased fuel capacity similar to the CH-47SD and terrain following/terrain avoidance radar.
"MH" is the abbreviation of "Multi-mission Helicopter"
"CH" = Cargo Helicopter
"AH" = Attack Helicopter.
DILLIGAF Dude Thanks for the information!
