On "My Car Story" we're in the Suburbs of Chicago on 7-4-17.
We're taking a ride in a 1997 Porsche 911 993 Turbo S in White Paint.
The car's Owner is Hank Bernbaum. Hank's had the car since 1998 and today he shares details of the last air-cooled Porsche Turbo. This car is in all original condition, just like it came from the factory.

I've owned a 1996 993 C2 6spd in Iris blue metallic for the past 11 years. Even parked it's a head turner. I also lowered mine to 'RS' height using Bilstein HD's, beefier sway bars etc. NO cupholders! Car is bulletproof!

These 993s are so great in feeling the speed. Today you are so isolated, faster but subjectively much better the oldschool feelings as provided by this legendary car... Love it (BTW - I have Bilsteins PSS9 and also great - PSS10 are top of the line)

Nice that you have had it since '97. I would have liked to have gotten a Turbo S when I bought my '96 Turbo in 2010 but just didn't have the extra coin. In any case I am super happy with my '96 Turbo .... 18,800 miles and counting .. upgraded suspension, turbos, chip and a few Turbo S extras. It pulls great and these are such lovely looking cars. cool video lou.my best buddy had 993 carrera 2 with the factory fitted turbo body. love looking in the door mirrors and seeing that fat ass.and at 150mph slipping it into 6th gear. just a cruising gear without the turbo. Happy days the 90s. the last pretty porsche made in my opinion. I am a grumpy old man now though.

@@loucostabile I love Porsche, I actually learn how to drive on my brother's late 70s 930 and that was a beast. He made the mistake of saling it in the late 90s. Now he regrets it big time. Now I am trying to get one but they are out of my budget range.

Let me make some corrections. All the 993 Turbo S had carbon fiber shock absorver (Not a uncommon option). Most of the Turbo S who had the Sport Seats (65% of the Turbo S´s made had Sport Seats) had the back of the seats painted the exterior color (Not a uncommon option) and finally, all the European cars (with the exeption of SUVS or Pick Ups) that are sold to the North America (even today) are all a litle bit higher than the European counterparts and back then (80´s and 90´s) most of then didnt had headlamp height adjustement so no suprise here too.

One negative to a ride along, the owner can wreck the video and test drive. This gentleman has no idea about cars either! Except older Ferrari s aren’t very reliable
