Disregarding its halo status as the last of the air-cooled 911 models, the 993 Turbo is still my absolute favorite of them all simply because... well, _look at it!_
I'm looking... I used to love them as a kid, they look like big toys to me now... Round, fluid and girlie. Not what I look for in a sports car. Sorry mate ;)
That air cooled flat 6 sound will be played at my funeral. Nothing better. I had the joy of my mother’s 930 turbo as a young to mid 20s lad. Utter magic.
I have been privileged here in South Africa. My friend in Pretoria had a yellow fully modified 993 it made 850hp on 1 bar boost. We came back from Kyalami after a Porsche track day and the power with the bigger turbos an straight pipes out of the turbos was orgasmic. It starter wheel spinning even at 120kmph until you changed to 4 gear and the slicks grip. It was very intimidating when it started up in the pits and the sound trumped every other one there. What a machine hands down the fastest car I've ever been in.
I’ve never forgotten visiting my Uncle in Madrid in the summer of 1998, I was 14 at the time and I’d always been a fan of cars. He took me up to Carlos Sainz’s indoor karting place just to have a nosy. As we arrived, there was a blue 993 Turbo parked up by the entrance door, side on, and it was the absolute most beautiful car I’d ever seen. I can still picture it now, 25 years later and I still really want one… best get up and get off to work and carry on saving!
As I watched this I realized that I forgot that this is one of my favorite cars of all time. I say that but you reading this don't know what that means, lol. But this particular Porsche is a top 5 for me and I am sad I will never own one (at least in the current market and next decade). Great video!

Great video. I have a 170K+ on mine and drives better today than the day I drove it off the lot. BTW - you are supposed to keep the car @ ~3K when you shift, at which point, there is very little lag to the turbos starting to kick in @ ~3500.
Those rear seats and the lip provide the ideal platform to securely transport a rack mount server such as an Apple Xserve 😜 The space between the rear trim panel and the lip is about bang on 19”. The C4S is a car he’s had for years and years and used to be his daily driver, but is now a toy. It’s a lovely, lovely thing. This car is a cracking colour combination.
What an absolute honey of a car. Perfect spec, love the colour combination in the interior. I've always loved the curves on the 993 Turbo, I still remember seeing my first one in 1996 when I was over in the UK, same colour as this as well I think. Thanks for sharing it Roland, enjoy it.

AFAIK all twin turbo 911s have the turbos in the arches which can lead to problems. Such as - corrosion causing stuck wastegate actuators and shaft oil leaks.

it's the old story a 993 with 4WD to go with the turbo engine, ie a different planted feel, or a 993 carrera2 non turbo with less weight no turbo & no 4WD. the C2 will be a bit more playful being 1-150kg lighter, with 125 less hp but without the turbo thump, so it really comes down to that personal choice of 993.
Oh my God please tell me you're being ironic by putting an apostrophe in the name James. No one - NO ONE could possibly be so absolutely fucking braindead as to put an apostrophe in the name James??

Seats for 2 kids under 10 (or luggage and 2 crates of beer✓
And it's air cooled for the purist/nerd✓
it's the old story a 993 with 4WD to go with the turbo engine, ie a different planted feel, or a 993 carrera2 non turbo with less weight no turbo & no 4WD. the C2 will be a bit more playful being 1-150kg lighter, with 125 less hp but without the turbo thump, so it really comes down to that personal choice of 993.
Great video ,love these Porsches.Plus like the Jame's May shirt.👍
Oh my God please tell me you're being ironic by putting an apostrophe in the name James. No one - NO ONE could possibly be so absolutely fucking braindead as to put an apostrophe in the name James??
@@markfox1545 thanks for the spell check , tosser.
Nice video JM
Great Porsche 👍 👌
The 1997 993 tiptronic cab with 18” Hollowspokes is the best, by far, but I would say that (in arctic silver) 😁
Tiptronic?? Ugh.
@@JoJoJoker yep, I know there’s a lot of hate, folks will wisen up eventually
@@Rialas I would like a 993 Turbo with a custom Valeo/Sport-O-Matic conversion.
@@JoJoJoker if I want to ride manually, I jump on my bike lol.
@@Rialas I would like to drive a Tip 993. My guess is they get a bad rap. Actually my ideal would be a 964 Carrera 4 with a Sport-O-Matic auto stick.
Is that the same Porsche from Bad Boys? I love the Porsche as seen in Bad Boys. Mechanically the best? Probably not. Visually the best? Absolutely!
Another fantastic review. Would it be possibly to reach out to fellow Brit Harry's Garage to do a review on his personal 930 Turbo S with special heads? Maybe he can review your Ferrari?
