Great phrasing bro, but in keeping with one of the comments below just take "John Mayer" out of the title and out of mind completely and pursue your voice as player and improviser. Advertise it as such. You'll naturally drift away from John's phrases and develop more of your own. Keep it up.

Thank you so much! I wouldn’t say “completely” since he’s one of my biggest influences (such as Keith Richards, SRV, Mick Taylor to name just a few).
I’m reaching a point where I’m starting to develop my own sound and my own playing, thus distancing myself from other players (it’s hard ngl). But again, I will always borrow stuff from my influences.
As for the title, I need to mention my influences since I’m still insignificant, and if I ever stop being so (fingers crossed 😂), the titles will change.
Can’t wait to release my own stuff, it’s just a matter of practicing my mixing skills and my vocal skills

i hear ya, i do. A fet boost Keeley Katana and a TS10 will get ya a closer tone. But you gotta find YOURSELF in that thing somewhere along the way. Most of us find our sound by failing to emulate our heroes. Wish ya nothing but the best. YOu clearly got good taste, so stay the course my friend.

Thank you 🙏 I completely agree with you on the failining to sound like other players and I also agree I should sound like myself
I prefer to record with an amp and a mic but it was super late so I recorded direct so this is just a GarageBand amp
Check out the video where I play Helpless, I used a real amp and a pedalboard and I failed to sound like him, thus sounding like me and it was sorta cool
