- In Episode 6 of our web series of Stories from the Rainbow Warrior, Paul Simonon, formerly of the Clash, joins a Greenpeace ship as a crewmember, concealing his identity and taking on the role of assistant cook. When he scaled an oil rig to join our demand to stop Arctic oil drilling, he ended up in jail for two weeks. Here he is reunited with a fellow former prisoner who didn't know until hours before that he'd shared a cell with a rock and roll legend.

The opinions expressed in this video blog are those of the speaker and do not necessarily represent the views of Greenpeace.
Easily the coolest looking bassist ever.

Paul is the best. Love him, love The Clash forever.

Yeah...!!! You guys rule, ...set this world right and rock on to the next generation. Loved it.
Paul Simonon, you're a badass legend, no doubt. Keep up the excellent work.
Beautiful Beautiful man. As well from the inside as from the outside !!
Joe Strummer would be proud!
All very cool people!!! All amazing People!!! Brave people!! Support Greenpeace, they have highlighted so many things large companies and such have tried to hide from the public.
i really appreciate how green peace is trying to help us all out..i remember seeing that very boat at port moresby in papua new guinea where i lived as a kid while skiing illegally around haha..it was massive..
Lovely Paul ❤
Brillant I'm in Greenpeace wish I cud joined protest❤❤❤
@ginnikipper Thanks very much. It's good to know there are people like you that know Love for others, and for our ecology is the only thing that can bring light to our eyes and really change this world. Wishing you Love and light always...
I'm sure it was cool and good to be there. Have good day =)
I really hope he was dressed in his Gorillaz captains outfit when he was on the boat.
10 years later.... HE WAS!!
Awesome.
Real heros
Yeah the crowd are really inspiring Albarn, he looks clinically depressed..

"Paul Simonon, ex miembro de The Clash, se une al barco de Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior, como miembro de la tripulación, ocultando su identidad y ocupando el puesto de ayudante de cocina"
@iwantcompletecontrol in greenland ? i doubt it !
Can somebody tell me the name of the intro song? Haha
Thanks...
Juan Eduardo López Sauza history song off the good the bad the queen album
Paul's in that band too along with Dave Albarn
@wesseavey No. Let's hope he eventually realises that he will never get support from ordinary people until he renounces aggresson and violence, and it's ordinary people that change the world. Greenpeace needs people with courage like his, but would soon be disregarded by millions of people the world-over if they suddenly started ramming ships and endangering other people's lives. The Sea Shepherd may have inflicted damage on a whaling vessel or two, but only peaceful action will damage them all.
@TheArubastar Sea Shepherd's leader used to be with Greenpeace, but he split off because he wanted more aggressive intervention (see Wikipedia)
Also, people like him make things a bit simpler to achieve ( a very little bit, but it still counts =)
I have some friends who are artists, and they like what I have to say. I'm pretty sure our roads will cross one day. I know you think I'm a cook or just an unknown, but I don't have the choice, my goal and what I swore is UFO Disclosure and once it happens, things will be easier for you too after. I don't want a sponsoring or asking for your help, I'm just telling it to you =) Have a good day.
@iwantcompletecontrol No. He could not. I'd even challenge Hughey Morgan to out-cool Paul. He'd fail. Damon keeps going up in my estimation too.
Rock Lobster!
@Zdzarveli
History Song.
@wesseavey p.s. He doesn't want to join Greenpeace, he want to set their policy. It's not going to happen...
God, with so many resources, so much experience, and so many passionate crew members, yet you still refuse to work with seashepherd, come on, with your combined efforts, the potential for change would be enormous, yes you've both critisised each other for years, but Paul Watson has made it clear that he regrets these unneeded arguments and wants very much to combine forces with greenpeace, think about it, combined you would have 7 large ships, 3 helicopters, and dozens of inflatable boats and j
Thku 4 saying that albon is a narcissist yes he helped but simminon sorry paul i'm heavily dyslexic put it where its at .high 5 man respect .!!!!
@TheArubastar Greenpeace will never work with those that support violence. They know only Love will change this world. Paul Watson describes himself a police unit, both judge and jury. He has done many dangerous things, risking the lives of others. He also does everything in his power to discredit Greenpeace. Knowing that Greenpeace has thousands of people all over the globe commited to our ecology and justice, through peaceful means. What kind of a man would try to destroy that effort
Greenpeace are non violent proactive I think u missed the point the person was alluding too ok the point.is this Albon is superich he csn sfford helicoptrrd to get him.to a gig hello or planes chsrtered to their place of choice To me its an advertiding Csmpaigh to big up Albon on the £ incoming s etc trust I know what I'm talking about I hsvecnothing afainst the bands success finsncially or othrrwise but its a smack in the face if u consider some of his history .ok the Clash really cared about real peoplescisduesxpwere politically smart & awake it took a long time before they made a dime Theyvwrre vegetarian all of them to the best of my knowelege its already shows they care about the environment u are what u Eat > in this context > given a choice I would never endorse anything thats ok violence Forgive me If i need to r domore research in the context U suggest asGreenpeace I respect u shouldvknow &;do ok
Eat the rich lemmie said ouch .Bosrding an oil rig well where u get srrested hsts ofc 4 having tcGrace to do so on behalf of expiosure .climate change redress accountsbilty exposure .roch nroll isnt all sweetness & light like many of the boyscin rocknroll would like u think.!
Please enlarge the font its difficult to read .
Somehow this all seems staged.
@TheArubastar Sea Shepherd is what it is. However, Greenpeace does not work like that. That's why Shep went his own way. He is admirable, in some respects, but only activism based on peace and love can ever be wholly credible. Shep negates Greenpeace on a regular basis. That is unprofessional, and just a tad childish. The ethic behind what Greenpeace stands for is given away in the name. Sea Shepherd just does not fit.
:D
Why does Damon albon wish to make like hes king pin I'm sorry but he bores me brainless .
