Havent watched this yet but I just- I love procreate so much, but I want the ergonomic benefits of having my computer propped up on something and a drawing tablet I don't have to look at lower then the computer. It's the best posture you can have as an artist, and it is completely unattainable with ipad artists😢 gonna watch this later... maybe it'll be what I was looking for
Thank you for the helpful video! However, I've seen other videos though that say the pressure sensitivity does work, but not as accurately as we would like it... would that be because of a software update? In my case, I already have a wacom tablet (a small screenless intuos) but I'd love to have touch sensitivity too: For some absurd reason, wacom is not producing touch tablets anymore under the the 400$ range, and they're huge too... at that point might as well buy an ipad mini with sidecar, but of course only if it actually does work as intended. Has anyone tried with the latest ipads (ipad mini 2024, etc...)? Maybe things have improved?
Helpful answered my question, no it won't replace a wacom tablet as need full range of functions on desktop apps. It's a stop gap but a rather expensive one.
Cool tutorial. How well does it work though, are you better off using the Illustrator companion app the draw, and then import the drawings into Illustrator on the Mac? Does Barrel Roll work?
Barrel Roll and a lot of Apple Pencil features don’t work with Sidecar, so you’re likely better off using the Illustrator app to draw and then import your work into Illustrator on the Mac like you said. However, Sidecar is quite versatile and could be used for video editing, photo editing, presentations, and document annotation. There’s a lot of cool ways to use this to annotate and draw on your work. I hope Apple continues to update and improve it in the future to support the Apple Pencil more
Not pressure sensitive… how is that working like a drawing tablet then? There are very few artists that do not need the pressure sensitivity when drawing. So it doesn’t work like a drawing tablet at all, it works more like a display track pad controlled by a pen… Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great option as a second monitor, but thats not the same as a display graphics tablet
Mirroring isn’t perfect. At all. The scroll and swipe intensity is nowhere near the same between the Mac and the iPad, which is a huge deal when drawing or painting. The fact that Apple doesn’t have anything that properly integrates the iPad Pro into being basically a Wacom to your MacBook is wild.
I've been using wacom since the late 90s and forgot how to use a mouse. I tried it with my iPad pro and it feels almost the same. You look just like a younger version of me without glasses and cool hair. We could pass for twins except I'm almost 50.
easier said than done. I connected and edited in Photoshop on my Mac for a few minutes then, with cable, it lost connection and can't get back on... keeps telling me "Unable to Connect to iPad. The device timed out" You would think that Apple products can easily connect but it's a headache.
Toss the Wacom Tablet? Never. Maybe if you never used one. The intuous pro tablets are so much better it’s not even the same league. I just got a brand new iPad Air M2 with Pro Pencil and they are both going back. Not even close.
No matter how you look at it, the iPad and Apple Pencil are still using capacitive technology, and their precision will never match that of the S Pen. In fact, the electronic pen that most closely mimics the feel of writing on paper is the S Pen. Samsung tablets are still better than the iPad.
Samsung tablets cannot be better than an iPad for 90% of designers for one reason: the software. I have a Mac Mini M2 Pro, a Windows laptop, and I use Affinity Designer on both. The problem is that this software is not available for Android devices. The only option is an iPad. The power of an iPad M2 or M4 is necessary to work on vector design without any problems in a versatile manner. Samsung tablets are not bad, but they are not suitable for a professional profile currently. If you only work on illustration and do not need specialized software for graphic design, then you can consider other alternatives if necessary.
What a wild thing to say. The industry standard for artists across the world, close to zero latency, incredible precision, reliable and powerful - so much to complain about! How, precisely, does the S pen improve things? My Apple Pencil is as precise as a physical pencil/brush. How much more precision do you figure people need?
I'm wondering... 🤔 How could somebody saying this, having an S pen got to this video just to say this? You're going through any ipad/apple related videos and stuff just so you could hate on it?
Would you replace your Wacom tablet with an iPad?
Are there any changes to this method using Apple Sidecar or nah?
I love the camera on the tripod on the left 😂😂😂
Haha I’m working on it 😂 you should see the main camera, the tripod plate is duct tape
@@graysonsgraphics oh I gotta see it now

Can i do the same with window pc

Interesting, I could definitely see them improving it via a software update since I made the video. I’ll have to give it a try, thanks for sharing

that was helpful i made a bookmark of this thanks :)
Can I do this with my pc?

is the 1st generation apple pencil supposed to work? mine doesn't appear to get the mouse control
is it only photoshop whose pen pressure doesnt affect thickness?

No pen sensitivity, so it doesn't actually work. Using the Apple Pencil is essentially like using your mouse.
Don’t you know why the Apple Pencil doesn’t work this way? 😢😢

I have iPad Air and I tried Samsung S Pen in the store and it is magnitudes better technology. Now I hate Apple Pencil

No this is false. I’ve tried both the s pen and the Apple Pencil. S pen has more lag. Apple Pencil is instantaneous and extremely accurate
