Love it, it would be really worth the little extra and use 3/4 inch birtch plywood, it’ll look better and last a lot longer than MDF…. It’s a nice build….
Yeah, I do think this thing needs reinforcement as MDF butt-joints with deck screws are NOT going to hold up
@@WarrenPostma best bet is to add wheels to the desk so it moves as a whole instead of bends and pressuring the joints, also im gonna copy you on this and use vinyl wrap to finish her off
3+ years after my initial build of it, i jsut assembled it for the 4th time and still solid as a rock. The massive back sheet adds a lot of support but i see what you guys are saying, a little extra support never hurts

How is it holding up? I think it needs some 90 degree metal brackets in the corners to hold its rigidity.
That's like $100 worth of racks. How much did the wood cost?
$36 for a 4x8. I used 3 of them. So yes technically it cost me around $140 but you could keep the cost under $100 if you build wisely.

Agree. I just priced different plywood materials alone and it ain't cheap these days. One sheet of 3/4" x4' x8' MDF is around $60 at HD. MDF and pine are getting close to Oak & Maple prices which can range from $70 - $95 a sheet. I just finished drawing plans for one that will be more elaborate than this with drawers, keyboard slide shelf and dual 19" rack supports on top. I figure it will cost me +$400 doing it out of oak. Probably closer to $500 since I tend to underestimate. But it will be fun!
