Keep up the work 🔥🔥
Why is it always that right when I start contemplating projects, you and Dan Thompson post about those projects? Now I gotta go spend money.
😜
With whatever you do, one cannot expect anything other than perfection.
Love those classic rdavidr backing tracks, like you used in your super early vids. Gives the content such a chill, fun vibe
That's a solid desk! ...built to an apocalyptic standard! Love the music too!
Simple and sweet just what I have been looking for to base my computer desk on.
My 8PreX has never let me down and sounds great. You'll love it, David!
I don't even care if there's a single drum in your videos I can watch and listen to you talk for hours about anything you did in your house that was useful
Offsetting the rails with a piece of ply screwed on during install is brilliant.
Desk lookin pretty good man can’t wait to see the 100% finished product
Sweetwater is seriously the best. Killer work in this!!
Normal drummers: this is my dream drum kit
Rdavidr: this is my dream desk
😂
New Yankee Workshop (without the Nantucket accent). Between your killer drum, recording, photography, and woodworking skills, I'm surprised Create or PBS hasn't picked you up yet. Love your stuff!
Dude the focusrite is a winner, the octo pre as an addition is super nice too for the larger set ups.
Glued, screwed, and tattooed! Always interesting to see other approaches to the same problem - I just finished building a studio desk and tried to make a point of using as few fasteners as possible and keeping it lightweight enough to haul up and down the stairs to my apartment. I guess when you have a ground floor woodshop, different problems come into focus. Nice build!
Not only your a good fantastic drummer but your a handyman too. Good job dave. I remember when you were at 5k subs. Man that was a long time ago. I remember your old place with the secret room or space in your old studio. That was rdavidr og days.
This desk is one of the best if seen from a drummer. It looks really good
your videos are always so fresh and interesting, keep em coming
Sweet desk and nice idea with space for the midi keyboard!
some of my absolute favourite tunes going on in the BG there - the storm is over Isaac Hayes 👌👌👌👌
That pocket hole jig is cool. I was building cymbal boxes and I used that jig. It’s strong af
How much do I love your content? The internet is out and I'm using my slow ass data to buffer the video
@Rene Malcolm lol. Sure... also that’s super creepy
A sexy desk for a sexy interface. Well done sir.
looking for some insperation and guidence for a new desk at work and boom not only an awesome desk but you actually made pdf plans aswell, gotta make some time to build this now
man this is dope! so jealous! please upload a new 100% finished version when you get a chance, i'd love to see it.
it will be in the next! stay tuned!
Pretty sweet. I recently made a 10’ 9” desk with printer stand for the office and a 6’ floating desk for the kids on opposite wall.

Damn, being this skilled and handy must rule so hard.
It's never been easier to learn how to be, you're already on the best website for free learning! Check out channels like Woodworking for Mere Mortals and I Like to Make Stuff for beginner-friendly building videos.
@@dcurry7287 Thanks!
Jesus, that thing is going to be sturdy AF!!
RUclips has such a need for videos like these, even as a montage there's not many build vids for studio desks like this. Great job!!
Ballpark guessing, how much would you say the materials list was for this?
$300ish you could use different plywood though thats cheaper
@@rdavidr It looks like you used 5/8 or 3/4. What would you recommend? Also, what's your reasoning for using plywood as a finish rather than MDF?
@@JohnLaco Plywood will stand up to moisture and wear and tear infinitely better than MDF.
Bro, you built this desk like a tank. I love it.
An high quality vid
I like it its very nice yt needs more vids like that
That's cool, but can you figure out the instructions for an Ikea desk?
probably not tbh....
All you need for the sturdiness of an IKEA desk is a couple of 2/4s and some Elmer's glue 👍
I'll be dmned. This is almost exactly the design I just completed. Not quite as umm heavy as this but similar in that it is a 3 piece modular design. I handled the upper issues with a wall mounted shelf 19" above the 29" desk height. A keyboard on the desktop is still a bit higher than a resting piano keyboard but its hard to go any lower and still have decent leg clearance. Nice job!.
Nice desk, I am planning to build one for myself. I like the torsion box idea and use of plywood. Not sure about the mayo, that would be mess in my hands. Thanks for making this video, it's very helpful for small DIY people like me.
wow that is actually a sick desk
Thanks!
Love that top part. Think I might make something like that for the minimal hardware gear that I have.
I like how you put the rack rails, that is clever!
Love these kind of videos, Dave.
Awesome desk!
Awesome build!
Dirty Dave is the Bob Vila of Drums
Really good desk
thanks!
rdavidr no probs
Some people have dream cars, dream houses. Not Dave. He wants a d e s k.
D E S K S A R E L I F E
This video helped me out a lot so I would like to say thanks
Great video n great Jon, i Made muy own desk un PVC panel here un Puerto Rico thanks BROU. Nice job
finally stumbled across this channel of yours and this video just gave me an idea for a video editing workstation (3 VCR's,2 or 3 Monitors, and 1 CRT TV plus RF modulator) with a rather beasty PC to boot. all running Movie Maker, and Open Shot Video Editor.
I have the 18i20 from Focusrite. They steered you right. also great desk, looks super solid but super heavy. I did a real solid one with equipment racks as well. tore it down when i moved.
Very nice work!
That outfeed table, wanttttt
Hells yeah Brazilian Love Affair playing from the get go
That thing is a tank, nicely done. I only wish the video was longer D:
Wait till I install it!
Dave, is it bulletproof?:)
Ok, seriously, roughly, how cheaper this desk would be if compared with pre-ordered somwhere?
Yo, people!!! This man deserves more likes!!! So be those who pressed that damn thumbs-up button.
Nice build man! You should think about something like a walnut veneer for that beast.
Part II?? Can’t wait for it
this guy is an actual craftsman, behold
Loving those stickers
I love Sweetwater
Looking absolutely fantastic, man.
I'm still trying to figure out how I want the stand for the screen and rack for the interfaces to be in my place. Been testing a little bit, and I fear if I do it the way I was first thinking, my neck will hate me for slightly looking upwards at the monitor. Hmm, we'll see.
A birch plywood 4x8 is 70 lbs. So this is a ~ 400lbs+ beast :O... You look built but you will need help moving that lol. Can't wait to see how you make it pretty.
Beautiful design sir I like it
Love your videos dude. BTW I'm the guy who bought your cowbell a couple years ago lol
Good job on the desk, Some additions were not needed, they ended up making the desk just to heavy. for example I would have just used fillers to cover up some of the holes but that's my opinion, still a solid beast.
That desk could serve as a tornado and bomb shelter. It's probably stronger than the house. Good job.
That's a dream desk!!
Good work! Looks good
Weidrest drum set build ever!!
Nice job tho...
Great vid David!
Quality over quantity
Well done job, i loved it
Im just about to do the same. Love a good desk
Love the way on how you make your videos🔥
next time i would suggest putting mineral wool or other acoustically damping material in the gaps of the torsion box. this prevents it from being a big resonance chamber, which is important when you plan on mixing with monitor speakers on the desk.
I'm making a desk like yours but made out of an old solid wood door, its sitting on large cardboard boxes at the moment but I'll make the base at some point.
I LOVE FLORA!!!
Any update on the finished product? Not sure why this was in my recommend, but I enjoyed it
just finished installing it, video in the works!
Pocket hole beast of a desk!
Doing this in 2021 will be too expensive. Wait until plywood prices drop. Who knows if they will.
I totally understand why you did it. There are no desks like this commercially available,
and if there were, it would be in the $10,000 range. Can you tell me the method you used to mark the exact center line of all the ribs in the top section?
Quite excellent
This is the best desk I've seen for a DIY desk and I love the plans! Thanks for that!
One correction for your plans though...the hutch top is 63 and 3/8", not 68 and 3/8's. I measured it about a dozen different ways and can't figure out how you came to 68. Maybe misreading a hastily hand-written "63" on a note? That or I'm missing 5" somewhere in the drawings.
ahh good catch! I will get that fixed!
No riving knife? You are a brave soul.
Man good work
If your desk isn’t rated to withstand an EF-3+ is it really a desk?
Thank you for the informative videos!
love these kind of videos ❤️ keep them coming plz
You awesome cool project love your channel keep great work
Bomshelter desk haha looks good.
looks good
Hello, first of all amazing job !!!!! I wanted to know what size are the panels? 1,8mm or 2;2mm??
Dave you're awesome
Great design. I’m in the process of building one. Both The side cabinets are 1/2 in off plumb. Any advise on how to get them plumb before drawers? Thanks!
the size of your desk is amazing! I wish I had that much space at my house :D But the screens are way too high... if find that always so uncomfortable to work on desks with screens that high up... But that is obviously a very personal choice :)
Sweetwater is sic af they always send candy 🍬🍭🍬🍭🍬
I honestly get more excited for the candy than the gear sometimes... 😂
4:19 is perfect
What tool or equipment did u use to make the pockets for the screws?
is the plywood you're using 19mm thick? It looks like it is but I wanna be sure before I spend $500 lol (desk looks wicked btw)
This desk is doubled up more then Oreos dope desk
Sweet!!! I'm drooling.
Hey Man cool work a fan from Montréal
Daym! I wont say overbuilt though. Very similar to what I have been envisioning for my space. May I ask exactly how did Sweetwater support this project? Thanks.
Needs more pocket holes.....lol. Nice desk rdavidr. I hope you tell us the total weight of this bad boy.
