Another DIY Studio Desk Build:
Part 1: • Building The Ultimate ...
Part 2: • Installing the Ultimat...
Bryce wanted a sitting/standing desk so he could stand while recording guitar & bass and then sit while mixing or doing whatever else. This is by far the EASIEST studio desk I've ever built! You could totally knock this project out in just one day. A few years ago I designed and built a desk for my studio out of 6 sheets of plywood and took weeks to complete. This one was so easy I thought I was cheating! The top was repurposed from a desk that was purchased from a surplus sale from a local college. The hutch was built from 3/4" plywood and a solid wood face frame. The sitting/standing desk frame was provided by Flexispot.

Maple Desk Top 60" x 30"

wood/lumber)
3/4" Birch Plywood for hutch (about 1/4 of a sheet)
6 Space Rack Hutch Cut List:
Uprights (x3): 10.5" x 12.25"
Top: 40.5" x 12.25"
Face Frame: .75" x .75" (cut to fit after assembled)
Price Breakdown:
Table Top: $75 (bought 2nd hand)
6U Rack Rails: $25
Desk Frame: $370
Sheet of Plywood: $60 (only need 1/4 of a sheet. Also plywood is still stupid high the moment...)

The Ultimate Sitting/Standing Studio Desk Build!
Another desk in the books! What are some features you would add to this desk? 🤔
Record shelf
@Dunamis Studio This exactly.
Hey David, have you ever had a premier kit? I’m just wondering.
Where can I find those tracks you use for background music or do you have an album with those tracks? That kind of music is relaxing to me.
A couple of power strips on the underside of the worktop would be a nice addition.
I like how you line up various tidbits of the video along with the melodies of the background music. Keep up the good work!
See, this is the kind of paid promotion that actually works. That's a sick desk. If I ever wanted to build one, I would seriously consider following along and buying the product. It's far better than some schmuck trying to sell me raycons.
Or even worse, RAID: SHADOW LEGENDS!!!
2:46 - The rdavidr saw claims be as effective as its more expensive DeWalt counterpart. We’re gonna test that!
shoutout to Project Farm for being the best tool testing channel
Hi David,
Can you make a video "How to set your microphone to register your drum set up ?" Please 🙏
Oh good. Some builds!
Duudddeee you should turn a fat floor tom into a kick drum just for the content. Notification gang
I love the builds. You never like my comments or reply but I still want a COLLECTION VIDEO
You're getting more and more musical with your ambient sped-up power tool percussion!
Neato
4:09 Oh No! The slapstick is being repurposed 😱. Thank goodness the two videos, yours and @EMCproductions from Christmas last year will remain in our memories and in our hearts 🥰🥁🥰🥁🥰
Been a fan for a while, no where near the craftmanship of this but I expanded my desk (aka basic ikea table) with some MDF last year and it's made my workflow way better for the cost of a single sheet of MDF and some screws. It's not that stable any more mind, but it's fit for purpose backed against a wall!
As usual, you inspire to build cool stuff.
So happy you used that royalty free samba tune again 😂 I loved it so much in the other desk build vid that I wrote another samba tune inspired by it lol. Great vid as always, man.
dang dude how'd you know i was plotting to build one of these?? now it's gonna be so much better 🤣 thanks!
I thought you done put some servos on a kit or something, LoL.
This kind of videos are so satisfying to watch, not only the level of craftmanship is amazing but the editing of the video itself combined with the chill music is truly fantastic, great job as always!
I agree..Davidr is a great workman..good hands..but then he goes and does stupid things..like a flannelett reso head and gong hihats..I mean wtf? Lol!
Plaid shirt is a must
So nice, have a bad back & can't sit too long, have needed a desk I can raise & lower, this fits the ticket. Thanks.
Notifications work
The DIY master has done it again. Nice reuse project.
I know I've been away for a bit but DAMN! When did he get a full woodshop?!
I built a manual crank version - really nice table sir, good job.. always good to have options at hand.
You should make a workbench build video!
Reminds me of the New Yankee Workshop
U should make a snare drum out of a tire rim!!!
5:03 beautiful edit
LOL ikr
Cool video, a little misleading though. You pretty much bought an adjustable height frame and slapped a piece of wood on the top. I still think the best bang for the buck is the husky adjustable height workbench. You have to hand crank it but for $200, can’t beat it, and it has casters.
What exactly is that at 4:30? I guess it qualifies as a planer?
Drum Sander. Imagine a planer but for sanding
i built 2 big benches for my workshop/studio. one side has my audio gear, monitors mixer etc. the other side has electronics and down one end wall is my drums, and a wall of guitar amps, on the other end is an outboard motor, compressor power tools..kinda chaotic. Was thinking of building a rack hutch for about 3ru per side. thanks for the link..will get some
Just ordered the E7
I think 355 pounds capacity should be fine considering I’m not using the monster butcher block top you got going on, lol
Also, my monitors will all be on stands so between two vid monitors and my “ every day use” rack gear.
Apollos, comps, eq and pre-amps
Table top Basic DAW controller
I’m pretty sure I’ll will be under 200 pounds.
Additional processors, AxeFx , Eventide, etc.
Can stay, in they’re patchbay bins
One suggestive request
I’ve been kicking around how to keep a full size Arturia 88 key keyboard under the workstation
I thought of building the sliding shelf projection that I see everywhere but then I thought perhaps the keyboard would be too high to play
Another option is to have the keyboard self supportive, so it remains at playing height even as the desk raises
Thoughts
Thanks for the vid
I have a for woodwork shop as well so I’m pretty much stealing your layout
i envy your workshop 😲🤘🖤
Great vid, desk is very nice.
You master amazing
Nice job.
Will there be a 'best gifts to buy for drummers' this year? Great vid btw
Awesome dude
lol 5:04 I see what you did there, or sould I say hear. hehe
Gotta say I find smearing the holes with wood filler altogether _more_ effort than just glueing in a dowel pin. Possibly because of my dowel hoarding habit.
Very nice, it's essential but effective. I've been curious about doing bigger build projects like this, but alas, I do not have the space for a workshop and wouldn't trust myself with tools that could claim my fingers anyway. Do you do these kinds of projects as a service, or is it on a favour basis?
Loved it
I have been inspired to build myself a sandwich for lunch. However, I’m not going to cut it at home so I still have the choice of squares or triangles when I’m at work
(I’m joking of course, it’s always triangles)
damn that was really nice of you to build him that desk but it looks like he also needs a new interface lmao
those legs look almost identical to the Motia table legs i make at Herman Miller every damn day lol
I really wonder about the stability of these telescoping legs... I've seen some REALLY janky standing desks, and studio desks usually have a LOT of unevenly distributed weight.
Jon Peters would be proud.
Hii sir lots of love from india
RIP Slapstick
2020-2021

Cool! What speaker stands are in this video? do you still like them? do they rattle the desktop?
Thumbs up for this,,,,,,, however Drums?
Aye notification gang
What is the weight limit on that desk?
what are those blankets the desk was sitting upside on?
just a cheap old packing blanket
@@rdavidr Thanks man
piriformis saver.
This isn't much larger than my custom desk made of 5/8" MDF and 2 by 4s lol
Early
ironically the background music really sucks
My dads work bench is part of an old bowling alley floor
That’s super cool! Never came across one of those before
