    incase nobody has said it, the only real difference between the two is that m50 cannot use the really good autofocus in 4k video recording, and cant record 4k higher than 24 fps, wheras the r50 can do both of those things. that is really the only difference.

      It was good to see all the user experience information though. Things like being shown that you can remove a battery without removing your quick release mount every time, and a soft mic port cover that doesn't snap nails. It doesn't sound like a big deal but these things are incredibly frustrating when you're using a camera on the daily, so these are sometimes the types of little detail that swing a purchase decision.

Your video helped me decide that the M50 is still the best option for my situation.
    I also much prefer that the DC coupler for the M50 plugs in and out easily through the hole in the battery door, whereas the DR-E18 for the R50 would require you to open the battery door to put it in and have a long cable trailing out the camera.

Oh, you gave a verbal description of your studio set up, but have you considered doing a full detailed presentation of your studio setup to help those wanting to replicate your studio idea workflow. Oh, one more thing you’re missing or consider addressing. Those of us that use an iPad Pro than a laptop. Whether or not it’s able to connect wirelessly and download directly. I have found many good deals on the camera, my gf and I payed $370 for a good kit (RODE mic, bag, kit lens, body, charger and batter) and I'm excited to start collecting some lens. Your opinion on the EF-S opened my mind a bit, I might get a speedbooster or viltrox adapter and hook it up with a EF or EF S lens, although the EF-M 22mm looks very tempting.

    I have been shooting real estate with the Canon M50 and the Laowa 9mm f/2.8 EF-M for about a year now, mostly photos. But recently getting orders for video. Is there a way to cut down or even remove video window blow outs? With this only having 8 bits and small sensor, can this be done without heavily compromising over all video quality? Almost seems impossible, very unlikely at best getting hdr with this camera.
    I am planning on moving to the Canon R50 soon, but want to get everything I possibly can out of this M50 before moving on from it.
    Incidentally, with the Laowa 9mm f/2.8, I have found it to be equal to if not better than using a nifty fifty getting detail shots on real estate shoots by simply going to f/2.8 and racking the focus for these video segments.
    It's unfortunate that I will have to buy the Laowa 9mm f2.8 RF mount lens.
    At least there is no crop using 4k on the R50 which will make this insanely wide, even by real estate standards. Plus, I hear despite having the same sensor size as the M50, the R50 performs much better in low light than the M50.
    Do you think the Laowa 9mm is overkill, if so what lens would you recommend?
    And finally, can I use my Canon M50 batteries on the R50? I have 5 of them including the original.
    Thanks

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  Год назад +1

      Thanks for great comment!
      I can't speak for the lens as I never owned it or tried it. But because of the bit depth and lowlight performance of R50 cropsensor, I don't know if the video quality will be what you expect to be. Those window blowouts are going to be real pain to deal with.
      The batteries are different. I forget the exact model of the battery, but R50 uses the same with M6 Mk II. Slightly larger capacity than M50.
      I think for Real estate, compact size isn't as big deal for most cases. I think you can up it to a full frame such as R5 or R6?

    31:21 im not sure if this applies to dslrs. But I had an old gopro hero 3+ that I would use all the time with a usb charger.
    It turns out that by running the camera as the charger was plugged in put to much stress on the camera and I eventually lost functionality of some convenient features.
    So im actually relieved to hear that this camera doesn't send excessive amounts of power into it when it's plugged in.
    This might be a case of if the power entering a camera is more than what it takes for it to run (for the sake of charging) it might unnecessarily put greater electrical stress on the components and cause the camera to break prematurely.
    I have no idea if this is true or not or if this is just some wild theroy since im no camera genius. What happened to my go pro definately happened and I always rely on battery power from now on when using any of my cameras.

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  Год назад +1

      That may have been a problem of the old gopro. Modern smartphones don't have such problem and are much smaller than this camera released on 2023. And Sony cameras and action cameras these days don't have such problem.

    It is unbelievable that you did not come the R50 and M50 for photography. As a result besides ignoring picture quality you failed to compare lens for each camera. You spent an inordinate amount of time wondering the web cam issue using a battery something that I would never do when there are inexpensive dummy web cam batteries which I have used extensively with the M50 and the M6 Mark II. This dummy battery will also work with the R50. As a person who loves photography and not being a kid who only shoots video I found this review largely useless.

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  9 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your input. Yes, I largely focus on video as I titled as "RUclips" cameras. Unfortunately, I can't afford the large selection of lens opportunities of two cameras as they don't adapt to each other. As I set out earlier in the video, I focused largely on the usability aspect. I am sorry that my video didn't cover the things you needed.
