31:21 im not sure if this applies to dslrs. But I had an old gopro hero 3+ that I would use all the time with a usb charger. It turns out that by running the camera as the charger was plugged in put to much stress on the camera and I eventually lost functionality of some convenient features. So im actually relieved to hear that this camera doesn't send excessive amounts of power into it when it's plugged in. This might be a case of if the power entering a camera is more than what it takes for it to run (for the sake of charging) it might unnecessarily put greater electrical stress on the components and cause the camera to break prematurely. I have no idea if this is true or not or if this is just some wild theroy since im no camera genius. What happened to my go pro definately happened and I always rely on battery power from now on when using any of my cameras.
That may have been a problem of the old gopro. Modern smartphones don't have such problem and are much smaller than this camera released on 2023. And Sony cameras and action cameras these days don't have such problem.

It is unbelievable that you did not come the R50 and M50 for photography. As a result besides ignoring picture quality you failed to compare lens for each camera. You spent an inordinate amount of time wondering the web cam issue using a battery something that I would never do when there are inexpensive dummy web cam batteries which I have used extensively with the M50 and the M6 Mark II. This dummy battery will also work with the R50. As a person who loves photography and not being a kid who only shoots video I found this review largely useless.
Thanks for your input. Yes, I largely focus on video as I titled as "RUclips" cameras. Unfortunately, I can't afford the large selection of lens opportunities of two cameras as they don't adapt to each other. As I set out earlier in the video, I focused largely on the usability aspect. I suppose that also depends on if you are Android vs iOS!
@@JosephKim I use an android phone. Will it work?
@@soulscience8969 I know you can connect via app wirelessly, but am unable to confirm working fast via cable. ;(
great review, thnx.
Thank you!
good info thanks
Thank you!
Hi, i am a noob.. i want to buy a good camera to do good photos and videos at my family. Which camera is better between canon M50 mark ii or canon R50? Thanks in advance for the reply
Both will do photo and video well. :)
@@JosephKimcan you also help me to choose which lens I should buy? I want to buy the Canon R50, but I don't know which lens I should buy. I need to do manly photos to my family.. so for example to a person (bokeh effect) or to group of persons. Which one of these lens you recommend to me?
1) CANON RF-S 55-210MM F5-7.1 IS STM
2) Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM
3) CANON RF 24MM F1.8 MACRO IS STM
4) Canon RF-S 18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM
I'd recommend to get the kit lens and that will let you know which range you like.
I narrowed my next camera to the R50 but I do Photography only (no video/vlog/YT etc) - is the R50 the best compact mirrorless for high quality photos ?
I think 'best' is a strong word, but it really is a good one. There are other cameras of similar size that does take better photos. Namely, A7c.
I am impressed with your workflow with the M50. I have been doing the SD card reader method for so many years, I had no idea it could be easier? I still use my M50 and M200 more than any of my large DSLR's. I'm sure I would love the R50. But, I still love my EF-M lenses!
Haha, great to hear! I like m200 too. Just didn't get around to try it.
Canon sold a lot of M mount camera bodies. I suspect that 3rd party lens companies will support M series for some time.
I forgot to ask a important question,is canon r 50 a water proof camera?
No.
Cancon mark 3 will be my first camera in years
Nice.
I tried charging my R50 with a USB 3.0 A to USB C Cable for charging and data transfer,
but I'm not getting that green light indicator.
Does it have to be that cable you're using in order to charge this with a cable?
It must be above specific PD power. All PD standard requires the cable to be USB-C on both sides.
I appreciate if you could do Review on Canon R8 4k
I just can't afford too many!
@@JosephKim I agree! They’re too many. I’m beginner not sure go for R50 4k or R8 4k
Without testing R8 myself, can't say for certain. But they have two different sized sensors. I for one have started with the crop sensor which R50 has and I was satisfied.
That's fair. I'm sure you can find other better photographers having much better video than me :)
Does stabilization work in HDR PQ mode?
I had not tested that. But I'd think it would work?
@@JosephKim I heard someone say it doesn’t but wasn’t sure if that was accurate.
@@superstringsbro I am unable to test it atm. Sorry that I can't test this.
@@JosephKim I found the video from the guy who said this. It was from a couple of years ago so I think stabilization does work with hdr PQ. The problem now is zebra’s don’t fully work with hdr PQ so 10 bit is not really useable. Mark Bennett mentioned it in his review of the r50.
@@superstringsbro yeah, those technical aspects are wayy beyond me 😁
From my research it appears the R50 kit is about twice the price of the M50 kit.
Haha, m50 kit went down in price.
38:30 it means camera is dead forever?😢😮
Haha, no! Just pick it up and wait a long time for it to charge!
Thanks for responding ☺️
Thanks!
Thank you!
@@JosephKim best!!!!
Excellent details? 👍🏾
Thank you.
Its a good video.. but possibly a little too long winded.... i would get to the point slightly quicker when explaining.. may put people off
@@longlivefreedom9853 haha, sorry.

@longlivefreedom9853 haha, thank you :)
@@JosephKim RUclips is that highly competitive nowadays everything has to be perfect.. and then possibly we have try different things to keep people coming back
Great info…..

@@JosephKim I purchased the cannon R50 but it won’t connect to Bluetooth or WiFi, returning.
@@loriD19 did you turn them on on the settings?
I'm kind and respectful

@@JosephKim That's good to hear that I don't have to fear that anymore with modern equipment. I have been out of the loop for a while and getting back into being a hobbyist. So having channels like this really helps catch up on the current standings of the tech available. Thank you for responding so fast!
Also I had no idea what camera was worth it but this video helped me decide that I'm going with the r50. only because I don't need a webcam for any reason and have an unopened logictec webcam I never even used lol
Thnx ♡
Thank you!
Suggest a camera for videos as a new RUclipsr. Specially Canon.
Budget $1000
Thanks in advance
I think you can do some research 😉
I am sorry that my video didn't cover the things you needed.
overal m50 is stil a great camera, and if you have a m50 dont upgrate to r50 lol. If you want a new camera with lens options....m50 again
Haha, yeah. But I feel like USB-C is definitely an upgrade to me. I know I'm just odd though :)
I wanna get in photography/videography so if anyone can help. I’m deciding between r50, m50MKii, Nikon z30, or Sony zv e10 ?? Please help 🙏
I haven't tried Nikon, but all are solid choices!
R50 foco muito melhor!
Nice!
Just for money grab....canon has lost its reputation with customers
They surely have some areas where they have lost me on..
r50 is death on release day xD
Haha, why?
