I think Australia needs a company like Dynacorn to produce XR,XT,XW,XY, Bodies for the GT,GS but also XA,XB,XC in GT Sedan Coupes and the Ute and Panel van a lot of these are rusted out to the max
Thanks for sharing guys. Moits Motorcars has been in the development stages of this chassis for over 18 months. We have worked alongside TFNSW and in accordance with the national code VSB-14 to ensure these vehicles are engineered as Modified Production cars and not ICV’s. We still have some boxes to tick but the plan is to have these released to market within the first half of next year. Moits Motorcars will have an installed chassis on display within the summernats exhibition hall and be able to explain the process and costings further. Thanks for you support 👍🏻
Always seems like a surprise to Americas when they hear about the size of the car culture down here. This feels like a stepping stone to saving and building alot of XYs!
I hope this is successful and they work out the best way to get around the ADRs. It’s such a hassle to swap a body on to an aftermarket chassis over here and still make it road legal. I’ve heard all sorts of pain in the arse stories of people having to keep XX% of the original chassis just to be able to register the car even though completely replacing it all would be much safer and perform better.
I'm no falcon expert by any means but the aussie falcon looks amazing similar to the 66-69 American falcon. I wonder how similar the floor pans are between the two countries versions and if any year mustangs share the same architecture.
The big pillarless hardtop would benefit the most- I've seen an XB hardtop with rails welded in underneath, connecting the front and rear subframes. Figured it was done for good reason.
The only thing that makes this a shame is that we had to outsource it to America. Whatever happened to good old Aussie ingenuity? 🤷 Makes me miss the OG's like Johnny Taverna. 😮💨

Plus we created and maintain the entire Subaru WRX AND Ford Barra aftermarkets and have a huge input into the billet motor market through places like Bullet, BilletPro and PAC Performance. Trust me, local support is there, but we need to have an Aussie equivalent of Art Morrison, that deals with local Aussie models, from old X series Fords, to KTG Holdens or E series Chargers. 👍
I just checked because I previously thought otherwise, and I found out that Castlemaine Rod Shop doesn't offer a complete chassis solution for these Falcons. Which, what? Why the fuck not?
The XR,XT and XW were based off American coupe designs. But the XY wasn’t according to legend the XA was the first Australian designed and built Ford but on a technicality the XY was not based off any of the American coupes 1966 to 1969 models from what I understand I could be wrong.

This is the thing I love about (Classic Cars )(Muscle Cars) I’m always Learning something new that I didn’t know before or finding out some historical fact I had no idea about and yet I’ve been around them my whole life Ford, Holden GMH, Chevy GMC, Dodge Pontiac Mopar Chrysler. There’s so much history behind them it’s pretty cool. And watching this little video it’s great the technology is now catching up for the enthusiast.

We already got the a/m panels sorted and the crapped out rusted t-f oem bodies are drying up so who wouldnt want a fresh new manufactured rust free body and chassis as a project starting point. Data scanning is here so lets use it and stop spending thousands on rust repair. For one, im in!!
The failed state of NSW has virtually outlawed any kind of reproduction industry for the street rodding movement. If you want to build a Model A as a rod, you need the original frame and engine block for a VIN to get it engineered for street use. No more fibreglass bodies or repro frames. I can’t these Falcon frames getting approval either.
I get the love affair we have with Falcons , the nostalgia and all that. However the price for Aussie cars, even clones, utes etc is ridiculous. I know supply and demand. To think I rolled a rust free XY off at the tip years ago (late 80s), it was a factory 250 with toploader, buckets, console and 4 wheel drums Can't have been many in that spec I would think? We have the OG's like Howard Astill & Taverna Chassis, i wish this country had more go to do things like this- stamping chassis/ hanging panels, new dashes etc etc. I do remember there was an Aussie running a mob in Thailand or Malaysia stamping new Kingswood panels at one point
Astill is a master craftsman. He and Rod Hadfield filled my heart and mind with the endless possibilities that could be attained with old metal as I was growing up in the late 80’s early 90’s. I will never forget Hadfields two t model fords, the mother duck (twin 6/71 shotgun powered) and the pickup (Lincoln v12 powered) absolute works of art
New bare body X series would sell big time. They sell anything and everything for Mustangs. Not sure about this chassis idea. I wouldn't cut up and XR to XC. Though the chassis would be awesome for the classic production race series. Maybe that's where its heading.
America sold 4 door Ford Falcons that have the same body as the Australian models. So they didn't have to sent their car to the US to see if it was going to fit.
@@fractalign That's bullshit. I've owned 3 of the US 2 door Falcons. I've had guys come round and measure them and ask me if I'll sell them the doors off my car. By the time you get all the modifications done and all the little things you didn't think of, you could have bought and imported several US Falcons. They're not particularly expensive in the US.

Because of cost. They definitely have made IRS chassis as well. And remember this is from the USA the home of the solid rear axle. Back when the then new mustang came out with solid rear axle, Ford Australia developed the rear IRS for the falcon for less…

Those Aussie Falcons need a good chassis, because the factory subframe is flimsy junk. Compare an XR to XY subframe to a Mopar of the same vintage and look at the difference, especially front end. Piss-weak compared to the solid and well engineered Mopars. As far as the custom chassis' in this video - they are awesome, however what do they do to stop them rusting? I couldn't see any painted ones. Do they leave that for the customer to do as it looks like mild steel? Ok, maybe I missed something, as I skipped through the video in places.
You would think that there are enough quality fabrication shops here that could do this. RRS Suspension are an obvious candidate considering they export mustang front end suspension mods back to the US. Look at the number of people who are modifying XA XB XC coupes with FG rear ends. Good on Moits for using initiative, but its a shame that local capability missed out. Once the 3D scan was done on that core chassis they could have gone to any race frame builder, or approached co’s like RRS. The cost could surely have been pruned if fabbed locally. Even a falcon frame with a half cut TE crapadore rear end sub would be infinitely better than that mofified rear.

Disagree. They completely design front suspension from scratch based on using corvette stub axles and redo the geometry and wishbones to suit the car. Cars with their chassis' have often won auto cross events in the us. They are not back yarders.
I Hate to burst everyones bubble as i think this is a beautiful piece of work but people need to be aware that if you fit this chassis or any aftermarket chassis to your car you need to then register the car as a brand new car complying will all current ADR laws. The first Cop with half a brain who sees the chassis in your car will put you off the road and you will have to re register the car as a ICV (individual constructed vehicle) and comply with todays ADR..... Australian ADR rules are linked to the chassis not the body, they allow you to fit another Body to a chassis and keep the original identification of the vehicle but not the other way around. Like i said very cool beatiful chassis but Pointless as our laws dont let us enjoy progress... God bless America!
You guys in USA do have the falcon, the XR 2 door, it's basically the same chassis . I'm a ford guy but wouldn't bother changing the ford. I'm sure if you got another one hundred grand to spend. . Rather buy a Torana, has a great chassis , front, coil over rear. Holden's did the best chassis, sorry ford guys.
Basically reverse engineering, get a car and pull it apart and re make everything from the best materials and your on a winner for sure, how do you think the euro cars are made and china and Korea started, basically copy others and they way they make things, now that the main players are not making various car or not making cars at all, there's a big market for spare parts and especially if you wanted OEM spec parts?

Why do these performance and fabrication shops just buy and bolt on everything ? Personally I would have no confidence in any shop that cannot even produce a basic chassis/subframe as it shows these guys are happy to take your money but not do the work. if you can use a computer to scan a car then why not take the extra step of designing a chassis as there are a lot of people in australia that could do this and you would have a superior product with shorter delivery time and far better pricing and jobs for aussies.

They’ve already done the HQ, I think Monaro, but with floor mods. A couple of chassis’s made it here years ago. Where they are, who knows?

Exactly - in any vehicle with a full chassis, the frame is the identifier.
It becomes an ICV ( individual constructed vehicle) must meet current ADRs.
It's still the original body falcon- the body number is on the body as they never had a separate chassis. It is simply a strengthening modification.

Whatever RRS do is attached to a bill that’s quite simply ridiculous. The work is pretty good, but the bill is stupid.

Basically reverse engineering, get a car and pull it apart and re make everything from the best materials and your on a winner for sure, how do you think the euro cars are made and china and Korea started, basically copy others and they way they make things, now that the main players are not making various car or not making cars at all, there's a big market for spare parts and especially if you wanted OEM spec parts?

This would be awesome but don't think it will kick off in Oz because once u put a body on a chassis in nsw then it becomes whatever the chassis is it won't be a 71 xy falcon on your rego anymore

Why do these performance and fabrication shops just buy and bolt on everything ? Personally I would have no confidence in any shop that cannot even produce a basic chassis/subframe as it shows these guys are happy to take your money but not do the work. if you can use a computer to scan a car then why not take the extra step of designing a chassis as there are a lot of people in australia that could do this and you would have a superior product with shorter delivery time and far better pricing and jobs for aussies.
