Chick must be loving this. He has such an orchestral approach to playing piano. This is just right up his alley. Bravo Chick and guys. Bravo to the orchestra and the arranger. It's a fantastic orchestral arrangement.
Bro. Dave, you made such a difference in that performance, your performance changed tha mood of that orchestra forever! God richly bless you my friend!
I’ve heard lot of Chicks compositions and this one is really special as well of all his compositions,He’ll always be that shining star in our, life, dreams, and Return to forever ❤😂🎉😢😮❤😊😅😮😢🎉 RIP 🐥
Saw Chick do SPAIN live in 2019 with the Oregon Symphony. LOVE this recording. The viberaphone solo in this performance is simply stunning. There are a lot of versions of Spain on RUclips, each with fresh improvisations based on Corea's awesome foundation. I cannot imagine the rush/high/ecstacy of hearing something he himself created interpreted by so many outstanding musicians. And what about that Bass?
at first i was thinking Steve Wilson is the guy on the CD of the orchestral "Spain", but his sound is quite different. Eventually i actually WATCHED the video
This is so beautiful. Full of emotions. Definitely various geniuses at work. It’s like a classical concert for various instruments, not only piano. If you listen only to the piano is definitely a piano concert.
That sure looks like Miles Davis' engraved Martin trumpet that Wallace is playing. Wallace was Miles last student. I'll just bet you that that is one of Miles' horns.
They can listen to it from where they are now..... We don't know what they think, but I'm sure that they fully respect the genious of Chick. He's a genious just like they have been
Beautifull experiment!! because is very dificult join the Simphonic style with the Jazz. Not is possible spoke about the ensamble Why? because the sonorous ranges are differentes and have not in dinamic balance, but ..........................the total result have encomium and the best effort. Is Awesome!! C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S!!.
The Title - Chick Corea Trio & Wallace & Joshua with Orchestra. Change title to appropriate Chick Corea Trio with Gary Burton & Wallace & Joshua with Orchestra.
Chick is obviously a great musicians but I think he didn't really score this stunning and brilliant arrangement. It's a very specific work that needs very accurate orchestration's skills. The man conducting the orchestra is, maybe, the author of this arrangement.
Composed and arranged by Chick Corea, Orchestration assistance (Assistance !!!!) by John Dickson ! Concerto N°1 For Piano and Orchestra by Chick Corea : Composed and Orchestrated by Chick Corea
Wrong, This recording is part of a concert which has been planned in 1995 or 1996, so it's 1995 or 1996 :). Chick Corea "From jazz to Classical" at Parthenon Tama (1995 / 1996). the infos are written by chick in his Piano concerto Recording for Sony, where he recorded this version of Spain with Origin. It's in the liner's notes.
lol, i hope you're kidding.?? if not, check the liner's note on this album, it's written in it on the first page, first paragraph.. chickcorea.com/blog/albums/corea-concerto/
A masterpiece! Compare it with other gems in the classical and jazz realm! Thank you, Chick, for leaving us with such an incredible work of art!!!
Yes! And somehow underrated ir unknown along with the piano concert from same time

una maravilla absoluta. Viva la música. Gracias Chick Corea por tanto.
I hope this video is never removed. What a work of sublime art!
Ilike this version of Spain. I've heard various other versions, I like to go back to them to appreciate the shear musicality of the piece.
That bass... and everything else. Wow
John's line is absolutely first class!!

The great genius of our times. Not only to compose a standard like "Spain", but then to compose these variations on the classic piece. Jesus!
Amazing arrangement!

This just blew my mind! Awesome! I wonder what Bach/Mozart/Beethoven would have said if they had heard this?
They can listen to it from where they are now..... We don't know what they think, but I'm sure that they fully respect the genious of Chick. He's a genious just like they have been
@Brad Watson perfect 😎
i talked to Bach about this a few years ago and he said he liked it. Mozart told him he liked it too. Haven't heard from Beethoven though.
