This is like watching Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea get together. Basically, unimaginable.
Just saw these two at Carnegie Hall a week ago..one of the most remarkable musical experience of my life. These guys are both 70 and have not lost a single note of touch or speed...the level of communication was extrasensory. What made it all more incredible is that the happiness that radiated from their faces - these guys love each other and relate to the crowd with such humility. Truly a blessing if there is such a thing in life - two see these two men play music together.
Is that on RUclips?
@@dillonsylvestre8216 ...I ask the same, it would be marvelous to watch it again. Many thanks, anyway..!
Now Herbie is 80 and Chick just turned 79
That must have been an amazing show
This is the greatest thing I have ever witnessed, almost with zero exaggeration. This is like watching Mozart and Clementi have a battle, except that they each know the song and are prepared to improvise with wild and unleashed and humble genius all in service to the mystic wonder of each song. I'm in shock. Few humans will ever understand what is happening here, though the archetype laid down will reverberate for a thousand years and more.
And beside all of that, the cinematography is fantastic, giving a near perfect glimpse into the magic.
Honestly this reply exactly encapsulates my response and reaction to the unparalleled genius and beauty flowing from the minds of these two incredible humans. Today I started transcribing the last few minutes of this concert, where they are vamping over a simple descending pattern, and it’s like learning a new language. The more I listen, the more I’m hearing exactly what they were tapping into and feel like it’s a river of creative energy that will sweep anybody up into it, if they are willing to be swept.
Indeed! 2022
What these guys can do with just a few chords is unsurpassed. There rhythmic precision combined with limitless technical ability and musical talent is mind-boggling. Just how intensly they listen to each other is a lesson by itself. Two of the most creative musical minds ever lived in my humble opinion.
Two supersonic comets racing across the sky faster brighter and as colorful as an infinite rainbow.
Rest In Power to Jazz Great Armando Anthony "Chick" Corea (1941-2021). You will be sadly missed and never forgotten, Big Brother. ❤
The most fascinating exploration of Maiden Voyage I've ever heard or witnessed. It takes the Sorcerer to pull magic out of magic.
Absolutely fucking amazing; these two masters sound so beautiful when they combine their musical ideas! They completely turn Maiden Voyage onto its head, and transform it in such a unique and gorgeous way. Their modal harmonies are just so heavenly. Every moment is bursting with ideas and creativity; the entire thing always has the feeling that it’s just on the brink of falling apart. This feeling, combined with the fact that they always barely stay together, produces such a fantastically exciting sound. The ending is just pure visionary mastery; it’s like a musical representation of strobe lights blasting through prisms all around you. So exhilarating, and it actually reminds me a bit of the ending to Prokofiev’s 3rd Piano Concerto.
Years go by (... many, in fact ...), but when I listen to these geniuses, who fill my eyes with tears in front of such beauty, all I can say is "thank you ..!" ALWAYS. :)
I didn't know about these musicians when I was growing up in Hawaii. I took the jazz history class at the University of Washington in 1982 and learned all about these two wonderful gentlemen. I chose Chick Corea to listen to specifically in the lab with headphones and I was blown away! I became a jazz fan after that.
RIP Chick We'll miss you.
Oh my lord! This is so freaking epic!
This is insane. I knew a performance of Herbie and Chick would be good but not THIS good!
Saw them in Phoenix @ Celeberty Theater 1978. Great show! Cheers to Chick and peace to his family.
Much THNX to whoever shared this. Brilliant PLAYING, brilliant FILMING, brilliant FILM EDITING. Never will two greater pianists ever play more greatly EVER than these two great pianists. WHY is this not available for purchase on DVD -- or better yet on BluRay!!!!!!!
I loved it! There are so many musical elements to take from this performance. Chick and Herbie are monster artists.
The rendition of Liza from 36:20... fantastic! That's what happiness and having a good time feels like!
That part is absolutely astounding!
I wish I could watch this for the first time again
the most interesting conversation ever on musical instruments
...this is THE word: "conversation"... Never better said. Thank you..!
Words don't express the amazing swirl of emotions ideas they played. That's why it's music 🎶
Such amazing talent. What a joy to watch!
I saw these geniuses twice when they toured together. It was awe-inspiring.
wow, could you share some thoughts?
My only wish is that Herbie would come back to this... Chick never stopped...
they were (and are so humble)....but my God...they were incredible musicians....pianists, jazz artists
Divine gifts shared so generously with us all.......
RIP Chick.....you were amazing every single time I listened.
Miles smiles, I'm sure.
Chic Corea forced me to really listen to music, not just the fluff but intricacies, the inside the mind beat, he allowed his fellow musicians to expand on his riffs with an unselfishness seldom found
That what his music does to me. listen deeply...👍❤️❤️
Beautiful.
Extraordinary beyond words

+A Blackman Ha, good one ;)
Du vraie art incantatoire !
I'm not sure whether it was that year when I saw them in Madrid. Last year they were still touring together. Wonderful.
22:28 I found it amusing how Chick gave Herbie a helping hand there. The man was clearly struggling :)

La Fiesta is Great!!
incredibile...
😭😭😭😭😭 Los amo
quien amas?
love how the audience cant clap on beat lol
I'd be jumping like a kangaroo to this.
And yet they're so adamant about doing it!
two bodies, one genius mind
Are you sure it's Liza in the end and not just a modulation of La Fiesta. Because, I agree from 37:20 we can hear a very light and joyful modulation but I do not manage to recognize the chords of Liza (or maybe the first sequence of it that's all)... What do you think ?
And definitely from 40:03 these 2 amazing genius go back to La Fiesta till the end
It's not Liza but indeed just part of La Fiesta. You can hear this on the 2 disc recording Hancock & Corea where it's part of La Fiesta.
You are right for sure. They do not go into “Liza” here
maiden voyage > la fiesta !!! ugh this duo is impeccable
Always Philly Love
come back soon
Chick... We Love You! May You Tickle The Ivories In God's Kingdom. 👆☝️🙏
Some good soul timestamps please
Chick was an O.G. Did see how he threw that ciggy out on the floor ? R.I.P.
time markers for track listing would have been the polite thing to do.
I am just grateful it is up here.

Two music genius and 2 terrible, old, out of tune pianos.
yep yopumessed it up
Peu importe.
