Absolutely STUNNING!!! What a pleasure to listen to !! And what a wonderful fireworks of articulation with absolute mastery of the bow with old school VIBRATO!!!!!!
Thank you so very much for sharing this absolute TREASURE!!!!!And if I may say much more handsome than Heifetz!
I just watched a masterclass by Heifetz where he was playing with a young Erick Friedman and I could tell Friedman impresed the old master!!!!
Indeed, Heifetz obviously favored Erick over the others. He was patient & polite to the two young women (who, in my opinion, didn't play as well as the young men). As for the men, except for Erick & Varoujon Kodjian, Heifetz was merciless; "More bow! More bow!!! If you don't use more bow, I'll take it away from you! MORE BOW!!!" Erick, who played the Brahms 1st mov. got smiles & very few corrections from Heifetz.
So wonderful that we have a few films to go along with the glorious records !
This was (I believe) the first version of this movement I heard, some 10 or so years ago. It's always stayed with me and will always be my favorite!
Speechless... Friedman was "the man"... ufff
Wonderful sensitive playing
Beautifully done
A miracle.
FANTASTİC USİNG BOW
Beautiful great Boruch HaShem
One more CD to buy - Thanks Nate! :)
My hero!
I am sorry to admit I didn't know who Erick Friedman was until today. His performance is excelent!!
He taught violin at the yale school of Music and died of Cancer. He was a child prodigy
Thanks Genie..
+Luis Stern To see this great violinist as a student at UCLA watch the RUclips videos of the Master Classes held there in 1962 with the great Jascha Heifetz as instructor. Erick Friedman along with just a chosen few others were in this Master Class and taking instruction from Mr. Heifetz. I found the four videos fascinating to watch. Mr. Heifetz listens to them, plays along with them, and offers corrections and suggestions for their improvement.
I had no clue of him until I began studying with a student of his
