MIND BLOWN!! I never thought of it that way but now this makes me want to rewatch the matrix and compare the two to predict part 2. In the end Neo was able to save the person he loved and the world so this makes me think of the conversation the school counselor and Miles exchanged “You can't have your cake and eat it too… unless you have two cakes.” 🍰
They also have similar themes and allegories about coming out… the matrix was also made by two trans women and doubles as a coming out story. taking a pill to see a whole new world while people who want to keep the status quo try to stop you and call you your old name (Neo vs Mr Anderson) Gwen is not trans but the secret identity thing and that beautiful scene with her dad was used as an allegory.
This videos giving me the motivation to finally check out the matrix sequels 🔥 I enjoyed the Across the spidervirse and felt like it was really building up just as it ended. I’m so excited to see what they’ll do with it next. I never watched the matrix sequels so I never noticed the parallels but what I did find very similar is actually the new Star Trek: A Brave New World series on paramount had an episode showing the canon events in the universes time line. I think it was the last episode of the first season. It’s an interesting plot device alright 🔥🫶
