Releasing the Python mark 2 in August means we'll be waiting for a year for a better Cutter, the wait doesn't matter as I'm busy. I'm just driving around Dav's Hope picking up engineering materials, I'm dying for a ship with a massive jump range, the engineering material slog grind in Elite Dangerous is epic.

The new SCO FSDs are awesome. Sadly it makes the normal and even the pre-engineered FSD obsolete it seems. Had around 71 LY jumprange with a 5A pre-engineered FSD on my Krait Phantom. The 5A SCO FSD with grade 5 increased range and mass manager experimental effect leads to awesome 74,42 LY. Just bonkers! Better buckle up on your materials fellows! AND: the A-type SCOs have less shaking whie SCO is active.

UPDATE I just put a size 6 SCO in an anaconda and fully engineered I get 9% more distance than a fully engineered size 6 previous drive. OK the new update has dropped and there's some new ship's available using arc's for an three month early release, which still cost you to purchase in game with credit's.
During all the hoopla of what's going to be in the new update, I don't know if it was the various content provider's who sometimes add thing's that FDEV doesn't include such as the number of arcs for the new mkII being some 16,250 vs the more than 16,500 it actually is.
There's was or at least I heard via more than one you tube content provider. Going to be some serious change's in engineering. Where as in part one will utilize less material's and will have the ability to gain more material's during game play.
It's only been one day, but I'm not hearing anything in regard's engineering being any different.

Actually wanted to buy the Python MKII, but the sneaky price increase alienated me.. .again. ^^
It dose not bother me that much that prices increase, but rather how FDev has done it.
They should have up'd the price for ARX in the shop, not the prices of the items, because this devaluates all the in game earned ARX plus the ARX one has not spend yet.
Pairing the increased buying cost with a big Sale (and announcing that early enough) might have lead people to buy more.
Now it seems to be less. ^^
I'll not stop playing the game, because there is still a lot of fun in it.
Plus I actually appreciate the work of the actual developers.
The management? I am less fan of them... for reasons I doubt I need to reiterate. ^^

BUT, if I understood correctly, if a pre-built ship gets destroyed, you're only out the credits for any upgraded modules, and you can always choose NOT to re-buy those modules in the process. I'm thinking that should get you back to the original build.

Then blow up and reject the module rebuy.

@@slingitsideways So, this could be an interesting test: Buy a pre-built ship, upgrade some modules, then try to "downgrade" them while storing the upgraded modules, then get the ship destroyed....does it give a ship with the pre-built package or with whatever downgraded modules you installed (assuming you don't choose the "with all the modifications" option)? If that works, then you have your answer--upgrade all you want, and if you ever decide to go back to the pre-built package, downgrade the modules--storing the modules you wish to keep--then kill the ship.

Grab your SCO FSD at Shinrarta Dezhra, Jameson Memorial, for your one stop shopping experience and get a 10 percent discount. Then find a technology broker (human) for the upgrade. I noticed not all technology brokers have the ability to upgrade your FSD so make sure you plug it into your navigation map under technology brokers human (should be a yellow dot). You will still need some exotic materials for the upgrade.

      @@orderoftwelve Elite: New Frontier
With £100M to buy the IP and make real my vision of what Elite could be in the 21st Century after playing the original AND Frontier: Elite 2 and the rather hollow Elite Dangerous experience I'd for one bring back the moon mining module.
Should it be an MMO? It's not necessary. Should it be free to play? Again not necessary. Co-Op? Nice to have but optional.
Should it feature epic stories to anchor you in the universe of Elite? Yes, just like the original short stories from the box set Frontier Elite Dangerous did but this time in game form. Should there be repeatable farmable missions? Yes if it's necessary. Should there be far fewer corporations to get missions from and thus make reputation more important? Definitely.
Should there be RPG elements to make your stuff better than average? I can't see anything wrong with this regardless of the genre. Your flying ability will matter but your tactics and and passive skills should mean you can have fun. Single/co-op only.
The trouble with setting a game in an entire galaxy is that there's so many possibilities.

I was wanting to get the Stellar Python2, 'cos I figured it's worth it with the addition of the Ship Kit and the "marmite" paint job.
But I figure if they ever do a sale, I'll buy the Ship Kit then, and due to the modules being tied to the Python2, there's zero point engineering them, plus not too happy with their price increases (I wanted to get the Motherlode CMDR pack at the same time, but not now it's gone up lol), so Standard it is!

    Python Mk 2. First impressions:
Unimpressed. If you're gonna stick more weapons and utility slots on a ship it makes no sense to downgrade the Power plant and power distributor. You want to keep your efficient/thermal engineered weapons firing not overheating... PD not adequate. PP barely manages if engineered to max and monstered. Jump range is OK if FSD A rated but maximum 3 jumps before it's self-destruct or fuel rats? No spare slots for fuel tanks.
Standard Python is far superior. It can carry 128t+ AND fight its way out of a wet paper bag too.
