    Technically, with new prices, this ship (chieftain) price is 1400 ARX (if you don't already have the paintjob and shipkit that is). Stygian paintjob (10k ARX) and ship kit (14100 ARX) give in total 24100 ARX. DbX ratio is worse - 5000 for paintjob and 14100 for shipkit, so the ship costs 6400.

    …right? I don’t know you tell me. All content creators seem to be doing the same thing… looking at the pre-built ships as if an experienced commander is building a meta ship. They are meant to be for new commanders to see if they like a certain career path. You are meant to build upon it and swap modules for your own preference. Obviously none of us experienced commanders would build our ships that way but, that is the point.

    • @dorianarbos
      @dorianarbos 2 месяца назад +3

      Yeah the problem is, a new commander will buy one of these and have absolutely no clue what to do with it. Are you telling me that a player that just learnt how to leave a station is going to go head to a Maelstrom for a Titan bombing run? That's complete and utter nonsense.

    • @xShadowXscarx
      @xShadowXscarx 2 месяца назад +1

      @@dorianarbos Agreed, however we all know Elite: Dangerous is a game with a steep learning curve. Even if a new Commander had a meta AX ship, going into a Malestorm as a noob is “utter madness”. It is not hard to find information on Elite online, on RUclips, or on social media. Look at these pre-built ships like a drug dealer. You get a taste and you like you get more ;)

      @@dorianarbosI get where you're coming from but come on, they aren't _obligated_ to buy and lose the learning curve.
      We've all known for years there is NO learning curve with Elite lol. It's jump in and learn to swim. It's fine.
      These ships are not that further up from bare minimum. I can go to Jameson Memorial and build a better ship in 5 min. Its pay to experiment, really, hardly pay to win.
      This is no biggie. Its a ten year old game there's not many other ways they can earn money to justify keeping it going.
      I appreciated The Two Towers reference btw Ricardo!

    If Frontier wanted to give new players a chance in or near Titan would have set up the Chieftain with Guardian Hull reinforcements that have caustic resistance and any Thargo laser resistance also they would had engineered the Power Plant with Armored Power plant to have less heat and more power.
    Been yesterday in a fully engineered Challenger (no shields) for material collection at live Titan, at Hadad and I completed my mission but I died because of thrusters get damage really easy, the Guardian Hull reinforcements were 100% health but the Thrusters were 0%, needed to reset ship to get 5%Health and move a bit to get more materials then got obliterated by all the defences. My challenger had 2670k hull with 16% caustic resistance, is a new project only for collecting materials near live Titans or to fight the scouts as I have 4 AX multis and 2 beams efficient with Vent.
    I think Frontier sell the paints and kits that come with the ships, not the ships, as the Stygian paint pack is 10 000 ARX + the Ship kit thats the full price of the Chieftain.
    edit: Look at that Chieftain jump range 16 LY?! they could had bothered to instal that pre-engineered one of class5 A.

  • @GaveLJorgensson
    @GaveLJorgensson 2 месяца назад +3

    Aside from making the chieftain run cooler my engineering the beam laser and power plant, I would recommend swapping the positions and classes of the Cl 4 module reinforcement and the Cl 5 hull reinforcement. The reason is that military slots take damage last and you want your largest module reinforcement to take damage first. I would also swap the shield for a Cl 5 repair limpet and make the Cl 1 repair limpet a module reinforcement to increase resistance while the Cl 5 tanks the damage.

    I Heard new ships so I was coming back, researching if the stores were worth the purchase. Not really worth the cash for me, the most game relief it gives are guardian elements. Each ship would need to be fully decked out and engineered for me to give cash to them for it. I mean, offer a freighter. A few years into the game and I still don't have one. And if i did, I'd have to play enough to keep it ... Thats my thoughts, not that it really affects anything, but thats the comment section for ya.

    The new chieftain seems like a much better version that the previous one. two small gauss and the new player can help on interceptors, the two EAXMCs will do nicely on scouts and the nanites to help out in titanspace. Not a great ship, but definetely a good starting point to take a look into AX. i would have given the 1e bea, a grade 1 long range thermal vent upgrade if i were FDev. Still plenty of grind on that one to do, but it will show the new player some engineering benefits. Optionals look fine to. A bit of everything, but nothing perfect

  • @kessilrun6754

    Good build, actually. Smart. Equipped for all Thargoid fighting types. However, I don't think purchasable ships should have G5 anything. I think they should have G1-G3 combined builds and I have done my own mock up on what that could look like, while being effective for most (easier) Interceptor combat, which includes about 475m/s boost on G3 dirty tuned thrusters, on a Chieftain, at about 2500HP+ and 2x C1 thermal vent beams. 1x C1 thermal vent beam cools almost nothing and you really only need G2 long range lol. Only other issue I see, apart from lack of engineered beam is the missing remote flack launcher.
    All-in-all I'd say redact two grades off them thrusters, and give the PD and PP each at least a G2 armored/ charge enhanced (or super caps, to stay cooler after a shot), which will add some measure of power and cooling and rechargeability. Maybe a G2 on the military armor as well.

    My thoughts:
    DBX: they do know how to build an explorer ship, nearly an exact copy of mine, though I've got some light weight engineering (not too durable, but helps if you don't mess up) get the srv and That pre-built DBX is good to go to SagA* and back as it is.(skip 1 month of initial credit gathering and at least the week-long fsd booster trip that forces you to make a poor exploration ship first.
    Type-6 : an ok space mining ship. (skip one - two months to get to another kind of learning curve, with some fancy mining lasers)
    Chieftain: A good starter build for ax hunters, not too different from my first try, but I had only a regular gauss. (skip 6 months of regular game and a similar trip to above, skip the engineering grind for some very speedy thrusters)
    Python Mk2: the shield tank, never played a proper shield tank fighter so can't say anything looks somewhat hard to kill and catch. (skip one year of combat oriented game play (estimate) and possibly get a module that might break the PvP game in experienced hands, though a beginner will struggle with the regular flight and fight mechanics even in this one, Pay if you want to be an ass)

    First and foremost, I am not in any way, shape or form, related to FDEV and thus don't receive any more perks's than a normal player. Thus I can speak my mind without wondering if it will cause FDEV and my association any issue's.
    One can choose to gain early access to the new Python MKII, and then purchase it in the game's ship store. All for the low low price of 16,250 arc's.
    One can choose to after getting early accesss to the new Python MKII to purchse using 33,000 arc's from FDEV's store, the Pre-built, somewhat engineered MKII.
    The later with the exception of only having to pay for one atering the various modual's, a free rebuy. Meaning one only has to pay in credit's the difference between a standard arc bought MKII and the various updates they may have performed.
    Though either is a great way for a beginner, as one who has owned and operated coventilonal python's in various engineered way for the various purpose's one does, for over 9,000 hour's. I'd buy one for my teenage son, but not for my self.
    The loss of two core 7's for 6's, the loss of the varioius optional slot's, adding an additional large weapon slot, plus two more utility slot's. Make this new version of an old ship, a death trap, when it comes to being overheated.
    Using a conventional Python, I loaded it out in the same way the new one is available. Assuming one only put three large and only utilize four of the utilities. I matched the available core's, and the available optional's. Tried a bit of pew pew at Shinrata's nav beacon. And though because the wing's are actually wing's and not just graphic's, was more adgile in my ability to dog fight, which when I only play in a private server, with like minded friend's or in solo where there's only NPC who do not fight in any way shape or form as human's do. Was forced to flee, regroup and attempt again and again, unitl I just gave up and return to Jameson wth my tail between my legs.

Switch in the A-class thrusters to escape interdictions throw out the prospector limpet controller, and fit the srv bay to class 2 slot, and you can go explore the Bubble with this this one. Throw out the smallest cargo bay, fit in the fuel scoop and go further out if you wish. But that's what I'd do, since sometimes I want to get far out. I wish they would keep to human AX weapons. also Engineered 5 drive? should have been a 3. I thought it was a "startup kit" not a almost finished ship. wth is Frontier thinking. Not to mention that anyone new to the game that buys AX ship and goes and dos AX combat will fail and die blaming ship design for it.
    They want a new player to get a ship with 4 different weapons (1 of them made for one specific purpose) and then added 4 manual use utility items. Screw AX combat. New CMDR's wont eve reach the titan itself cause they gonna die in caustic not knowing what to use.
    They should create a starter pve ship instead that could handle itself in mining rings against random pirates. Then way later on introduce AX ship and LOCKED behind a time/skill/rank gate so you don't loose new people that buy something that "looks cool" and its against "aliens" and then rage quite when they wont be able to make heads of tails of it.
    Its obvious that people making these ships are not actively playing the game themselves and just googled what kind of builds people do and made "something similar" as a baseline.
