I did this settlement a few hours after your delightful vid. Filled my boots. I took 2 e/breaches to facilitate a quiet entry into cmd area. Otherwise, I had an identical 'mother hubbard' experience. Thank you Logan.
Nice to see there's another Arai's Mine type location around. 👍 The upgrades I use for stealth base raiding are: - For weapons, a silenced sniper rifle and silenced plasma pistol (one-shot quiet kills at range). - For the Maverick suit, quieter footsteps (not noticed so easily), larger backpack (carry more!), night vision (no flashlight to attract attention), and lower tool battery use (save that power!). I went for the larger backpack first, then the silenced plasma pistol. Those are the best two upgrades you can get, after that, it doesn't matter much which you go for. The others are just nice to have enhancements.
It is good to have a known settlement where people can go to again. Since Arai's Mine and MMI have both been turned to non-anarchy settlements there have been quite a few people struggling with where to go to get their materials. You can go out and find these systems for yourself BUT not everyone has the time or knowledge to do that. At least now those people have somewhere to go. Upgrades are a personal preference and I think everyone prefers different. For me the larger backpack wasn't worth it. Yes at first it would be helpful BUT by the time you get that upgrade, or shortly after, then you have an abundance of the common materials anyway so you no longer need to pick up as much. I find other upgrades more beneficial. The silenced weapons are always beneficial though and I agree that is pretty much an essential upgrade.
Not what I'd call an exciting or riviting video, but that's part of the real charm. It's nice to have a few videos - and this is a perfect example - to show how and then repeat the process enough that the viewer can stick with it long enough to gain confidence in trying it out. Thank you and kudos sir! Sorry, forgot one critical comment. I'd land the ship at least 700 meters out, preferably behind a large boulder or in a depression - somewhere it can't be shot at if things go bad. Then I'd drive my SRV in and park it where you land. An SRV is a LOT cheaper to replace, and someone new to this is going to make mistakes - and mine were sometimes expensive! LOL
If this guide is primarily for new players, might be worth mentioning that carrying stolen goods isn't the only thing that will get you shot at. Getting scanned while carrying that forged security clearance will also get your ticket punched.
The latest Logan Terrick video, awesome. Once you get into it the onfoot stuff is ok, shame about the grind, got most of the physical materials today but the data is a nightmare, think will have to do missions rewards just to get a bigger pouch. Maybe I’ll try this one after another go at Arai, thanks and may all their souls rest in Valhalla.
Thanks. Yeah, like a few things in ED the on foot stuff is repetitive, I enjoy it though. I mean, it's flying around in a jetpack space suit in a sci-fi settlement on an alien planet with stunning scenery whilst sneaking up on people, taking them out and stealing all their valuables. What's not to love?! 😂 What data are you struggling with? I had the same thought about a bigger backpack when I first started but I ended up not bothering. After a while you have so much of the common materials that you don't need to collect them and so you're only collecting the more rare ones and then the standard backpack is enough. I can hear all of them raising their cups with Odin! 😉😁
Haha, I just realised who the 10th Legion are. Good to have you here. I presume you are okay with us using your system to do this farming? I know the Ti Wanjang Drug Empire is native to the system, so they will never be pushed out, and I can see you guys have been keeping them low in influence. I would presume the murders at the new settlement will only help to keep the faction low for you and shouldn't interfere really with your BGS. We're obviously hoping to keep the Ti Wanjang Drug Empire in control of Scholey Mineralogic Platform, hence I'm suggesting that CMDRs fight for them in any war that they get into, to ensure that they don't lose the settlement.
@@loganterrick You are correct that the mat farming and killing will have no effect on our BGS. I would also like to say that the 10th Legion has no interest in stopping this, I myself have been using Ti Wanjang Drug Empire's settlements to mat grind for over a year now so I wouldn't want to close this well either lol. Good farming everyone :)
The site was bugged. Usually the NPC are walking around, but occtionally they are stuck still like this. Also if you bring a imp courier here you can park between the hill and the security building and there is no trespass zone that close there. I parked very close to the building and once was even touching it when i left the ship. This version of the mining settlement is always the best farming sites, though i usually end at the power station rather than make that my 2nd choice.

Tried it out yesterday and it works great and is very easy to follow, especially for someone like me who is new the the on foot content of the game. I noticed that there are data ports in the bars in some settlements with lots of people walking about inside the bar, can you download from these while being seen with out getting attacked, if not how do you get the data from these ports especially in locations where you can't kill anyone? i was farming this thing yesterday, logged out there, and now today its got a war going on :D well, I fought for the Ti Wanjang "cartel" and won a CZ at least..... that was fun....
That would actually do more harm than good, so please don't do that. By doing missions for them you raise their faction influence which will push them into Wars that they don't need to be in. There are also 2 players factions in the same system. Those player factions will be working to keep the 'Ti Wanjang Drug Empire' as low in influence as possible so that the faction does not get involved in their Wars. If people start doing missions for 'Ti Wanjang Drug Empire' then they are going to end up in Wars with the player factions, which is in turn going to piss them off and then they will want to stop us from farming their, which is exactly what happened with Arai's Mine. Instead of doing missions for them all you need to do is fight in any conflict that goes on at 'Scholey Mineralogic Platform'. I explain it in this video: ruclips.net/video/MMMviABrA_E/видео.html
Did you re-log? If you re-log at the settlement then the data ports and lockers come back empty. You have to jump back into orbit and fly back down for them to come back.

Is there site's in which perhap's totally abandoned, which one could regardless of where or how far. Gleen aka scanvage any mat's that may have been left behind when abandoning.
No, there are no materials at abandoned sites. If you follow the advice in my videos then farming the materials doesn't take much pew, pew. In fact you can do it without any at all.

Thanks for the guide, I've just gone here and the settlement is locked down and deserted. If this is due to the conflict zone on the planet how long is this likely to last for? And, if it's not due to the CZ is there something I'm doing wrong?
No, it's not due to the GCZ. It's to do with the state that the faction that owns the settlement is currently in. How long it will last depends on a few things, so it's not something you can easily say without looking into the specifics of each particular case but you are not doing anything wrong. It's just going to be a while before it comes back online.
So whats the criteria one would look for to find settlements such as this when these are not controlled by the correct faction. I would guess to search by anarchy system state but what is it that makes these settlements such a gold mine? is it the industrial extraction economy?
Just finished two runs, still anarchy and even got time to see the neighbors in henriquez or something before my keyboard glitched out and started messing with my background forcing me to restart my laptop. But why are the npcs stuck in their spots? Thnx btw
You know what? From what I see in the comments - this settlement is no longer as valid as it once was. BUT - you know what? I have to THANK YOU for the location anyway! Because LOOK at those CANYONS that crisscross the planet's surface! I think us canyon racers have a new valid place to fly to for racing! And it's in Odyssey - which is kind of amazing! I know the former extreme terrain of the classic Horizons seems gone sometimes. But it's really not! It's just (usually) no longer instantly visible from space. You have to get down much lower to actually see stuff like this pop out. But not THIS world! It's instantly obvious from space that it's a canyon racer's dream! So thanks! I'll have to bookmark this place for THAT alone if nothing else!
The settlement is still valid. When people go and the site is shut down or in conflict they think it's no longer any good. That state is just temporary and the settlement is fine.
The size of your backpack limits how much you can pick up but I often don’t collect everything because some things are just not that worthwhile collecting and sometimes I’m only after specific items.
Further to what Logan just said, you can also double the carrying capacity of your backpack by visiting the appropriate Odyssey Engineer and supplying them with the requisite materials. (Also, you can dump what you collect into your ship's storage, then go back for more.)
Saw this vid a few weeks ago and started farming this site. Everything was going great (thanks btw), got several G5 weapons and got a Dominator to G4 as a result. Then about 2 weeks ago, this place as well as its sister settlement called Henriquez (I think) went completely dark. No power, no NPCs nothing. At some point after you arrive a gaggle of pirates will be dropped on you but other than that no personnel at all. After you kill the pirates you can loot the place by arc cutting and e-breaching everything. However, the data ports are nonfunctional so no data downloads. Also the drops seem more sparse and of course no power regulator, which is one of the primary items I am seeking. Have you seen this before and if so what can we expect? Will it return or should we start looking for another Wal-Mart? Just a few of the questions I have. Anyone know what's going here and what to expect? Thanks. PS: as of this posting both sites are surface conflict zones so are not available for anything other than combat until it is over. Was going to fight in the zone but are low level only and not worth the time quite frankly. UPDATE: I saw another vid from this channel about how we should fight the zones to protect the anarchy status of the facilities. Therefore I am doing this currently.
I'll be in Open tonight - CMDR VR247 I've never done on-foot combat with other players, but want to find a few others who'd be down to team up. @@loganterrick Oh OK Thanks.
when running these types of sites do missions for them as well so the faction does not loses control of the settlement
I explain it in this video:
ruclips.net/video/MMMviABrA_E/видео.html
Great tutorial, although when I got there all the dataports and lockers were empty.
Did you re-log? If you re-log at the settlement then the data ports and lockers come back empty. You have to jump back into orbit and fly back down for them to come back.
@@loganterrick Thanks. Will give it a try in the morning. Uh it is the morning already! Better go to bed ☺
I'm first and foremost an "Explorer". Thus though I have both the Artimis suit, I also, though have never utilized it, have the Mavrick suit. Both of which I found in grade three, and both having night vision. Needless to say as only an Explorer, I avoid pew pew, like everyone avoid the pandemic recently referred to as Covid.
Hi there Logan, I found this video and the tutorial for EDOMH extremely helpful. I just have a question, how do you get the Data overlay for EDOMH? I am struggling to find the setting for it. Thanks again for the great content. 07 commander.
-Afik you have to run ED in windowed mode-
Edit: Windowed or Borderless -> go to Settings ->Augmented reality
The settings are correct for me, but the overlay does not work.
Is there an order for starting the software? ED first or EDOMH first?
And yes the Visual c++ stuff is installed
@@Blade111213 Its a win64 feature thats all i can say unfortunately.
For me it worked right out of the box.
Edit: what you start first should not matter, i usally do ED -> EDOMH
It's cool to see the game at ultra graphics settings. Did you increase the gamma?
From the default, yes. It's way too dark for me by default. The game does look good in Ultra. Time to get that new PC mate. 😁
If I learned one thing from this…it’s remember to recharge!!
Preach it! ⚡⚡⚡
Hi, great video! Will relogging reset the instance as well or do I have to move to a certain distance away from the settlement?
You just need to get into supercruise and leave right after that. Now just head back the settlement.
Re-logging does not reset the instance. It used to buy FDEV stopped it a while ago.
@@loganterricki just visited. It is still in lock down :-(
So whats the criteria one would look for to find settlements such as this when these are not controlled by the correct faction. I would guess to search by anarchy system state but what is it that makes these settlements such a gold mine? is it the industrial extraction economy?
There is quite a bit to it. I do intend to do a video on how to find one but, so long as we keep fighting for this one, we should be good for a while.
Just finished two runs, still anarchy and even got time to see the neighbors in henriquez or something before my keyboard glitched out and started messing with my background forcing me to restart my laptop. But why are the npcs stuck in their spots? Thnx btw
You're welcome.
Currently I'm not finding anything except in powerplay systems. So what is the fastest easiest way to farm right now?
Tried 5 times but entire settlement is totally empty everywhere. Tried in Solo, Open, Private... nothing 😕
That's because of the BGS state that the owning faction is currently in. When the state changes it'll be operational again.😉
@@loganterrick Yeeee! I’m always the same lucky guy 😅 ok come on, I’m waiting for next week then
Thanks for the guide 🙂
Still a functional, anarchy location for material gathering.
is there a limit to what you can loot? I see you leaving stuff behind.
I'll be in Open tonight - CMDR VR247
I've never done on-foot combat with other players, but want to find a few others who'd be down to team up. I have 10 years of experience in this game, and still don't know my way around the BGS, but am learning it because of this exact farm, and to help the newbs (and vets like me) who are just trying odyssey out. I'm in VR only, and I'm loving it despite the drawbacks and non-vr play.
find a settlement and steel the power regulator from the settlement.
@@theplaidconservative5539 Actually I keep around 20 or so power regulators on me on all the time. I have stolen may regulators since I started doing this. Before the changes they were used as mats on suits but no longer. I have used regulators to power settlements before that were shut down, so I get your point.. I was just wondering why the settlements shut down and if there was anything to do to prevent it. Since I posted this I have been able to answer the questions that I was asking with my own research even though no one responded to my post. I guess I should probably just delete it now.
Glad it was useful! The settlement being dark is down to a BGS state, which will clear in a few days and all will be back to normal.
Seven month's old, does this still work?
Indeed it does. We've managed to keep it going so far!
Yes can confirm this is now a conflict zone at tis time
Join in the conflict and fight for the settlement!
Went there today and all the lockers are completely empty - in private play....
Cant confirm, everythig stacked. It could be the case another member of your PG was there before you.
Try a different gamemode or try going into supercruise drop out of it and approach settlement again - this should reset it
@@billklatsch5058 - It's far more likely that the problem is/was that the faction was in a state of war at the time. That leads to empty abandoned settlements. It should change to a different state after the Thursday server tick.
This happens because of the BGS state that the faction who owns the settlement is in. When the BGS state changes it will go back to normal.
So the only way to get on foot materials is to be a thieving murder-hobo?
As decreed by fdev!
Yes sir! Blame FDEV!
I had the problem that all was looted no logs no material nothing... i must revisit this site on another day maybe or had someone a clue whats to do?-- i die some research and know what happens. I must make a break and relog in Front of the Station and the Game say"no no this is evil grindglitching. U find nothing here."
Exat same issue here, did you manage to solve this ?
It's down to a certain BGS state, which will change back in a few days and all will be right with the world again.
it's a conflict zone now
Join in then! ruclips.net/video/MMMviABrA_E/видео.html
Sadly, no longer valid, ownership changed hands, not anarchy anymore.
I'm parked here now, its still owned by the anarchy faction, as a few places in that system are. if people work to increase their influence we might be able to pull them out of the Bust state... But I dont know much about the BGS. I'll run +inf missions until server tick and see what happens.
I noticed that too, but I mean the rule of thumb stands, right? The anarchy state is just to avoid bounties I think
@@Fooma777 yeah the reason for the anarchy is to avoid any bounties.
Not true. The settlement is still valid.
