My favourite Bollywood movie of all time has to be “3 Idiots” it’s so moving, funny, and has a great message! Tbh, I just love a lot of Aamir Khan’s movies, they’re always so good!

The movie that made me fall in love with Bollywood was Devdas. Sooo good!!! But my other favs are definitely K3G, KKHH, Paheli, and Om Shanti Om. Man so many other favs but that’s my top favorites!!

Bollywood typically refers only to Hindi language films, while Indian cinema refers to everything (including Tamil, Telugu, ect.)

No it's Bollywood (Hindi). Because India is a country of many languages. Each language has a -yhood suffixed to it :)
Savitha S that’s not why it was called Bollywood. It was named after Hollywood, but since the main place of the cinema world in India was Bombai (at the time) they replaced the H with a B.
Besides, if what you said about each language is true, then it would be called Hollywood from ‘’H’’indi.

Raazi, in my opinion, is one of the best Hindi movies I have watched recently. It talks about the sacrifices and struggles made by various people during the India Pakistan partition. Ofc the acting by Alia Bhatt is on point . 💙
The classics like Om Shanti Om also have my heart 😌
Bollywood would just be Hindi Film industry based in Mumbai mostly and Indian cinema would include all other languages.

the fact that I’ve watched all of these movies...
and I literally related to this on another level
I grew up with Bollywood movies since my mum was a big fan and it grew on me. My favourite memories were when we sat down early in the evening (since most movies are like three hours) and would start the movie, eat dinner, get to the middle of the movie, get sleepy and then finish the rest of the movie. I really enjoyed most of SRK’s work and my favourite ones are where he plays along with Kajol. Especially with their kinda recent works. So yeah. Definitely will check out some of Lilly’s recommendations though.
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham yes! My Brazilian mother took my sister and me to watch this movie in the cinema in Germany - twice. And then I owned the DVD that I came across in a yard sale of a library in south London. That’s definitely one of the most iconic.

My most favorite movie is "Queen"

K3g is my all time fave as well... I hadn't cried for like over 10 years... Then I finally rewatched the movie and then ended up crying for like a third of the movie. I guess as I grew up, more of the themes really hit home with me, due to the life experiences I had now unfortunately experienced and felt.
Kajol is my queen 😍 met her two years ago and she's truly wonderful. Such a bright bubbly presence ❤

I grew up watching Bollywood movies. And as an Indian growing up in the Caribbean I had no one to talk to about the movies. Im so happy to see that you're so open to talk about it. It warms my heart. I had posters of all these Bollywood actors and actresses in my room because I loved the movies and everything.
Most of the movies you've mentioned are in my top 5 as well.

I would definitely suggest you to watch "RAZI" and "URI". These movies are one of the best movies. I personally love these 2 movies because they are soo good, content wise as well as acting wise. Do watch these 2 movies.

Yes! Bajirao Mastani, Padmavati and Kalank for sure in my top as well! All this list but also Yeh jawaavani hai deevani (for a young vibe), Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar as epics and slap as movies.
Ones that maybe are a bit underated but so good are Piku, Barfi and Tamasha.
I'm following the long time tradition of my white Portuguese family of watching Indian movies! (in pre-pandemic times I used to get free tickets for the screenings of Indian blockbusters, miss those times!!!).
