- Just kind of an introduction and explanation of where I'm at and what I'm in the process of. Starting the methadone clinic and trying to piece my life back together after several years of opiate addiction. I hope my videos can eventually help or inform people. I will try to post updates as regularly as possible.
I’ve been on methadone for 4 years and it saves my life. I work a full time job now, I have my life back. MMP is not for everyone and that’s okay. I wish you well and hope things turn around for you.
I started the clinic many years ago. I was homeless, a prostitute and had been addicted since i was 16 years old. I started the clinic at 28 years old.
The Clinic saved my life!
Today i am raising my 2 sons. I work nearly everyday. I have a home, car, etc.
I just wanted to say I hope you are still doing well. I also want to say even if you never stop taking methadone if u are living a meaningful productive life that's what counts.

I've been on methadone for 10 yrs. I go every 2 weeks. I'm on 250mg it holds me all day. I'm a bus driver. I live a very good life. Best of luck sweetheart ❤️❤️❤️

@@indetong6685if someone has a liver issue like HepC or liver disease (that a person can get from yrs of IV H use) they will need a higher dose. If the liver isn't metabolizing properly then a person will feel like they are still in withdrawal even on a dose like 180mg. I was on 130mg & in constant withdrawal. I was still using IV opiates on top of that to stave off the withdrawal symptoms. Also methadone was not showing up in my UAs even though they watched me drink it daily & I was doing observed UAs. That is also a symptom of HepC. The clinic doctors were aware of some reasons why people need to be on higher doses. I had a ton of blood work done & they found the issue.
Currently on 70ml, bn on n off Methadone since '99' up & down in doses also but I can't believe ur on 250ml daily & ur ok to drive a bus! Do u declare that ur on it to ur employer?
As long as you are abstinent from all other drugs other than methadone then you are clean. Don't let engine tell you anything different. Keep up the great work. You are awesome!
You made the right choice! I'm on fent and starting the clinic tomorrow. Fent will kill me. Methadone sucks but I'll live longer

I am really glad you decided to get on the clinic. I used Heroin for 30 long years, I lost everything. went to jail, prison, did "things" to support my habit. I have been to so many detoxes, rehabs and relapses. I was also on suboxone for 6 months. nothing worked. I started methadone 7 years ago. I have been on 140 mg. for the entire time. I have 13 take homes, never used any other drugs ( I was also addicted to cocaine). methadone saved my life. I stopped worrying about why other people think or say. its our lives. I am in a methadone clinic in michigan currently and in 115 mg/day. This is my 4th time in a clinic. Two of the other times I was clean for a couple years before I relapsed. Though I successfully detoxed out of the clinic twice the first time it took a couple years weaning off the methadone. The second successful time I left was because I was just done with it being there for around 5 years. I also had a choice of paying back payments if around $380 or wean off from a 100mg/day in 10 days. I was preparing for thefor the worst expecting that would live in my sister's basement and would not want to come out. I was shocked when I came out the back basement after the second day of being out of the clinic and felt great. The withdrawal was bearable and not bad at all. After that I was clean for a couple years.Now this is happened once the other times were not this easyall I can attribute this to was that I was sick of the clinic and I'm done with.I gave it all that I had and everything I had and I walked away from it. Now that I'm in the clinic again I don't think it would be the same unless I was in the same situation. The other time that I successfullydetox out of the clinic it took time and was hard. When I want people to know from my comments here is detoxing out of the clinic is doable and comes with much work. Though it is what you make. So pretty much believe that you will and you will doubt yourself and you'll fail.so stay in the clinic as long as you need to until you know you are ready and you will be successful. A lot of times addicts fall off the wagon and I have again and currently in the clinic again. This time for 6 years so far. I've no plans of leaving anytime soon and will take my time until I am for sure ready this time. It might be another year or might be another 10 I don't know.
What part of Michigan? I used to go to the one in Gaylord actually both of them NMSAS and Michigan Theropectic Consultant aka BMG I think. I was going every two weeks at 150mg
I really like your take on this. You explained perfectly why methadone is a life saving medication for a lot of us. I was addicted to fentanyl, morphine, et al for years, then found the needle and went to hell. I was very near death when I got accepted into the clinic. Now I'm on 170mg and haven't used heroin or any opiate since March of 2016. I thank God, Jesus and the clinic for saving me and I hope you're doing great.
170mg is a fairly high dose I have been on it for 16 years & always stayed between 30mg-60mg.fentanyl is why all the heroin addicts are over dosing,they are putting it in the heroin so all the drug addicts come for their heroin.Good luck on the methadone clinic it gave me back my life.
I know it is the most common just not needed.No one & I don't care how bad an addiction is needs to go over 100 mils of methdone.No one should have any with drawl being on that much methadone.
The only ones that should need to go over 100 mils is some one who is a chronic pain sufferer & has been on methadone for a while & their dose isn't working for the pain anymore.
Most docs gave them the pills because Purdue Pharma promoted their oxi-contin time release as non addictive & told Doctors it was okay to give these pills for ache & pains.
So mothers,fathers, police officers school teachers etc all got addicted because Purdue Pharma (have been suied for 100 of millions) promoted their meds as so.
Well I read a book many years ago the author was a former head up in a Pharmacutical company & he wrote this book on how they operate & the 2 main reason why they will not bring cures out is #1 population would skyrocket if they started coming out with cures for all these disease's & #2 cures do not =$$$$.Really think about it since the 1950s we have had all these new disease's to come out yet 0 cures.I agree for the reason's of over population.
its not a cure unless its 100% & this new drug you are talking about is given with interferon & the 2 together have an 90% cure rate,that still leaves 10% that are not cured.There are different strains of hep c & there is one strain it does not work well on,but it is still going to help a lot of people.yay

Before going into methadone, I already tried cold turkey 3 times, but failed at around 40 hours mark, scored, but I'm sure my tolerance dropped quite a bit. So my starting dose is 10ml/day methadone, it holds withdrawal at bay 80%, my aim is to quit totally, not for maintenance. How do you suggest I should go about this plan? What dosage reduction and timeline should I follow? Thank you.
Meth? You realize idiots like you make it so that others actually think opioid addicts are being medically prescribed methamphetamine. (Adderall is amphetamine salts pops as methamphetamine on a screen btw) clinics have been denied in neighborhoods because of this misinformation. Call it what it is, methadone never ever "meth"
@@PinacoladaMatthew hello. I know at every clinic they do things differently but what I've seen be the most successful is reducing your dose slowly (and I can only explain in milligrams because that's how I know of it) so if you went down likr 1-2 mgs each week you probably wouldn't feel it at all until you get down to under 30mgs then of course you could reduce it less. Some people do it quickly and more at a time but I haven't seen it be successful as much. The most I would reccomend to reduce by each week is 5mgs but no more than that once a week just so you don't get sick and risk a relapse ya know. My first day was Jan 21st, 2014 and Im planning on staying on indefinitely. With my health problems and chronic pain that will never go away, its just more practical to stay on. Im glad you got the help you needed! Methadone is a life saver for sure! Good luck girl!
Gobz Wizzard I'm glad it has helped you so much. I think how long you stay on is a very personal decision and there's no right or wrong amount of time. I haven't really made that decision yet. I'm just kind of going with how I feel. I have been clean (like 100% clean, no opiates, no thc, absolutely no substances) for a solid year before and still relapsed so I'm just not trying to rush anything. Was on methadone for 12 years before that and used all th way those bar 1.5 years in the middle. How are you today? Were u an IV user? I am.
I too made the decision to get into a Methadone program. I have been in the program for three months and WOW! It truly works I have went from using heroin all day everyday to I have used 4 times in about 6 weeks. Congrats to you!! Keep fighting the fight!

I think methadone is a great medication if used correctly and with the right support.
I'm on 4ml every twelve hours .. I've reduced from 70ml .
My life is very different since joining the clinic I'm
°no longer in danger of death every single day.
°I haven't used in years .
°I've said no to drugs
°I have my own place and I can maintain my bills.
Yes it's difficult to come of . But in my opinion it's more difficult to come of heroin long term . With methadone it's a daily thing there is no fear of having a dirty drug.
I feel cleaner than ever mentally and physically.
°Use all the support you can get . Keep your self busy.
Tell your self that you don't actually need drugs you just want them .
Choose life not death or simply existing on the edge.

Same age, same situation. I've been in the clinic for 3 years.....if you have any questions let me know. I gained 100lbs after starting methadone, and I have trouble with bowl movements.....avoid the urge to eat a lot of sugar.....the methadone will change your life (for the better). Buy some stool softeners......don't go up on your dose if your feeling the dose.

Im glad you are kicking the habit. I was on opiates for 6 years and came to crossroads. I was either going to move to heroin (the cheaper option) or find a way to quit. I researched my options on things that would help me quit & I found several. My first attempt was with suboxone but I did no like knowing that it caused bad withdrawals. I the tried an herb I had learned about that had great reviews. Its called Kratom. I used Kratom and had very minimal withdrawals. Kratom saved my life. There are a lot of reviews about Kratom helping people get off a lot of stuff.
America First I’ve thought about trying Kratom as well. It’s not easy to get in my area though. Thank you for your comment.

But idk if I'd use it solely on it's own if the habit is of a higher caliber.
I don't know if you will read this Ashley but you making this video is brave. It was a good step in the right direction. I've been on methadone for 5 years. My current dose is 115. I've had 2 healthy kids while on methadone. I have my life back. My family. Because of methadone. It has saved my life. I even started a group on Facebook for mothers on methadone. The first of its kind which has inspired others to make similar groups. Its always food to have support. Anyway. Thank you for this. Your step g and I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos and see where you sure now.

I was on suboxon for yrs and i finally had enough it was the worst ive ever felt the withdrawals were horrible but finally i got away from all of it , the struggle is hard but its worth it in the end
Well, I can honestly say that I see a lot of my story in yours. I'm on my 6th year at the clinic. I actually tried for 2 weeks to not go, because my financial and transportation situation were screwed. I saw where it was going and opted to readmit before I had to hit another bottom. I been making videos on here for the past year now, but that part of my life I never really spoke much about. I watched many videos in those 2 weeks, trying to educate and maybe inspire myself. I think I'm gonna try and make more videos about the "darker" side of my life. Thanks for the inspiration! Keep doing what you're doing!

I've been at the clinic since 2014 and petrified to quit. But I have a NORMAL LIFE I WORK FULL TIME I BOUGHT MY FIRST HOME I HAVE A CAR AND PAY ALLL MY BILLS. I know some folks talk so much shot about it but GIRL ITS A HEAVENSEND
I give you HUGE props for making this video girl! I'm so happy that you're doing what is right for you! I know, from experience, the clinic is a very difficult life to live but when you get on the right dose (which can be anywhere from like 70ish to 135ish, it's different for everyone) you'll be able to live a normal life and not get high or feel sick either, just normal. It helps tremendously and you'll be able to work towards getting take homes one at a time of course but the less you have to go there the better, right? You have to be clean for like 90 days and have not missed any days either and also be doing all the counseling and groups too (at least it's like that for most clinics) and then you can get your first take home and then work towards the rest of them (I believe you can only get 6 at a time unless there are still special occasions for the pandemic where they sometimes give a whole month at a time.) I wish you the best girl, you have the right frame of mind and a good head on your shoulders and you know exactly what you need to do for you and your life. I can relate in so many ways to your situation and I appreciate you for making this video!! If you need to know anything or need to talk, vent or anything at all you can reach out to me, I will never Judge anyone for any reason, I'm a great listener and just love to help people. Hi, I am a 15 year old boy who has a problem with trying to “grow up to fast” as my mom says, but anyways, I am always curious and I Think that I have to know everything about everybody’s business, well I know that my mom was addicted to drugs, I don’t know what kind but I think opiates and or heroin, but she has been going to a methadone clinic for about 6 months now and she takes 95 mg of methadone once a day 7 days a week.

Being on methadone saved alotta people from being robbed. Lol i mean being on methadone helped me to keep myself grounded. I dont get introuble with the law. I have my kids in my care, i have me. . . Mathadones saved my life. ;) .
This is a very different approach. I have never been to or heard of a clinic that determines what they believe will be a good dose on the first day. All 3 times I have started at a methadone clinic, they do start at 20-30 depending on your visible wd symptoms and if there are any benzos in your system. From there, you can go up by 10mg a day until you feel comfortable. They do now have a cap at 120 at my clinic where you have to do bloodwork to see if you really need to go higher than 120.
Best of luck. Its real difficult the longer one is on Method 1 .

currently am on 120mg and have been for about 4 months. Not sure if i plan to get off soon, or ever honestly.
Sublocade shot saved my ass, got 2 300 mg shots then 1 100 then felt like I was strong enough, now im almost 8 mounths clean, there is multiple ways to get clean , mat or abstinence as long as your end goal is the same, keep the work up

I’m on methadone clinic in Ontario Canada and the most we pay 5 bucks if u get at the clinic if u go to a different pharmacy like one my brother goes to is 3 bucks a day lowest I’ve seen is 2 bucks for the dispensary fee I’m on 80 mg I’ve been a lot higher for a while I was actually buying 6 extra bottles a week because I know lady only take her witness dose and then sells her take homes but I’ve since started to actually work the program any that says u can’t get high on methadone never took enough most I’ve taken was 300 mg and felt like I was back banging fentanyl patches I’m glad I’ve been working the program now I have 6 take homes go dr Monday morning then get witness drink and 6 take home
I hope your doing well, however methadone withdrawals are far worse than anything you can imagine. Keep up you videos great work.

You have said some hardcore truth ! Methadone will work for you. It takes awhile to get there. With fentanyl being put in EVERYTHING it takes bigger doses nowadays. There are alot of people taking Methadone for pain because they can't get there prescription from the pharmacy. It saved my life. GET YOUR LIFE BACK !Good Vibes 👣

*I've never been on Methadone however, I watched a friend of mine suffer severely on it. He would have major episodes of dizziness and vomiting. I don't know if that's common*

Good on you for trying methadone but be warned I started out on 30mg then quickly went to 60mg after another 4 months I was on 100mg, now 6 years later I am on 160mg a day + 20mg diazepam, 10mg nitrazepam and 20mg temazepam daily. It can be a very addictive trap if you are not careful anyway best of luck to you and hope you meet your goals☺

Do they drug test you your first day? I have been trying to quit and used bezos to try and quit. Will they turn me away for having benzos in my system?

hi Ashley thank you for the video you are doing well I have exact same your story very close I start methadone a few days ago and in Canada used get 80mg oxcy . and spend all my money and my car and everything for that drugs , now with methadone here I pay 6 dollars at pharmacy a day and that's all and got my normal life back in two days I already saved 400 dollars by stoping buying oxy off the street I used to get 2 to 3 pills a day so now I feel good and have better hope and save alots of money and energy and stress looking for that drugs shit , I go to pharmacy once a day drink 20mg in seconds than i'm done I go to work than go to park with rollerblade. anyway thank you for the video brave young lady wish you luck and all the best don't let anyone put u down you are strong and smart do what's right for you sweetheart ciao
I wish you luck... but don't go higher on your dose.. It took me 12 years.. It turned in to he'll for me.. they call it liquid handcuffs and it will turn into it if you let it. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU..!. 💕🌞💕

I disagree with that liquid handcuff statement i keep hearing. If you are very serious about getting totally clean, and follow a taper program perfectly then you can quit going to the clinic. It's not a life sentence! I hate that people keep making others feel like their choice to go to a clinic is a bad one. Yeah, for some it maybe, but that's because they start going for the wrong reasoning.

Hi my names Ross and from England ,I’m like you but they put me up to 70 mls and for 4 years I’ve been clean. Stick at the methadone, and remember it’s not bad it’s legal and if it gets you through the day you’ll be fine. If you wake up in the morning waiting your dose really early you may need to go up a bit .they say 28 hours you should stay comfortable. Just take it and forget about it and enjoy life. Godbless. You said you plan on being in the clinic for a year, I think that is impossible you need at least 2 years but 3 is the goal for a proper recovery from it. But everyone is different good luck and God bless.
Well, how are you doing after 2 and a half years? I'm rooting for a good response, as I have been a methadone client for the last 10 years and now work in Recovery.
I have a question. I started methadone yesterday, as a short term detox plan from 1 year IM heroin addiction. Before going into methadone, I already tried cold turkey 3 times, but failed at around 40 hours mark, scored, but I'm sure my tolerance dropped quite a bit. So my starting dose is 10ml/day methadone, it holds withdrawal at bay 80%, my aim is to quit totally, not for maintenance. How do you suggest I should go about this plan? What dosage reduction and timeline should I follow? Thank you.
@@PinacoladaMatthew I dont have a standard answer. Everyone is different. Don't discount staying on methadone for a longer period of time. Theres nothing wrong with stretching out your detox down to nothing over a few months.

@@chrishall6451 I would love to stay on methadone for longer ,but I am a seaman, before I join my ship, they will drug test me so yea. I figure my 7 months voyage would be a better abstinence chance (can't get drugs at sea). So far I plan to go down to zero within 3 weeks....= )

don nick I'm still doing well! I have a couple update videos on my channel that I've recorded more recently than this one if you wanna check those out. Keep going strong though! It's definitely better than buying shit on the street. Regardless of what any asshole has to say, it's a form of treatment/recovery. You're in recovery & that's awesome so be proud of yourself.

Methadone gives you the right to use when u want(functioning addicts) and wen u dont have dope $ you still got your methadone
You have to come down methadone very slowly that’s the secret. Ppl come off it very quickly and reduce every couple weeks and that’s still to fast and that’s why they have a bad experience. I’d rather be on methadone than doing heroin and all that crap out there any day and ruining my life.You’re supposed to reduce every couple months and do it very slowly. I’m on it right now as well on 60. Having some anxiety I might need more idk but I’m trying to just stay on this dose. But if done right with doctors it’s a lot easier and a lot better than wasting your life using
