- Lets talk about some John Deere garden carts! Here we have a comparison and overview on the features of the 8Y and 10PX poly carts.
Just to clarify as I screwed up a few times in the video, the 8Y has a 300lb capacity, and the 10P/PX both have 650lb capacities.

I still have my 15 year old 10PX cart from when Lowe's used to have the free dump cart promo with purchase of a JD tractor. Gave it new wheels and tires last year, and I'm giving it some new labels this year. Can't believe what this cart costs now!
I got a 10P for half price when I bought my X350. So glad I got it, it has came in so handy throughout the years.
The main problem with that button-head slotted bolt is that it's very difficult to get a grip on when it's rusted. I'm in the process of replacing them with hex-socket button head stainless bolts, and getting the old rusted ones out really sucks.
You posted this video a year ago, STILL very helpful! I didn't want to read any more of the instructions to convert the 8Y to tow...lol. Thanks!
Glad it’s helpful! Should remain relevant as long as these are around!
Avoid the 8Y like the plague.
08:59 The latch to keep the bed from tilting does its job very poorly if at all.
09:43 The lip of the back really stops the material from flowing out. Then you have to pick up the tongue to give it more tilt and that is extra effort.
11:56 Those bolts pull through the plastic very easily. There are lots of complaints about that.
I pretty much just toss a blanket in it and ride the grandkids around the yard.
Thanks for your insight. I will stick to my inexpensive used "Heavy Hauler" cart. It works perfectly at a fraction of the cost (used @ $30) of the Deere dumpers.
Thanks for making this video...very helpful!
Thank you for the video!😊
I can definately see kicking the end of the tongue on the handled cart with your shin when using it like a wheel barrow haha
Great review. Very helpful.
I would like to know if a kit exists to upgrade a 10P to a 10PX cart, versus having to buy an entire 2nd cart--JD never makes it that simple.

I got an 8p brand new for free. Sold it for 50 bucks and had to. beg to get that.
Deere you pay for the name is all. My Rubbermaid tractor cart will last me a lifetime.
Dude, I cant hear a word you are saying.
I apologize… recorded on my phone, and didn’t have good editing software at the time. Turn your volume up as much as ya can I guess… my newer videos should be better, I started talking louder and the program I have now can raise sound levels
Clearly the 8Y is an indication of the dramatic drop in quality of John Deere. The 8Y is junk. Does not compare to any of the older trailers. The 10P is the #1 trailer in sales for the history of John Deere but for some unknown reason they have discontinued. We know the reason though. John Deere has moved all its manufacturing to China and what they are offering today is green/yellow junk with the John Deere logo slapped onto it so they can jack the price. Most farmers I know have been John Deere loyal customers for decades but even they admit that it's not the same company it use to be. When I was shopping for my first tractor, most John Deere owners I know told me get anything but a Deere. I should have listened. I regret ever buying a Deere. Over priced junk!
