SchneiderMan yes you can. At that range you get some spread but not very much. Depending on your choke the pellets are in a 1" to 2" cluster. So its a bit harder then you think to throw something up at close range and hit it, although with a little practice its not too bad.

A magazine is either detachable (as shown in the video) or internal and stores the ammunition until they are pushed into the barrel. you know, those rifles where you push the bullets into the receiver itself, you can either do this 1 by 1, or use a clip that holds the ammunition for you while you push them in all together. It has nothing to do with being a gun nut. I'm german, don't own a single gun, still I value precision in language. Otherwise you just sound like an uneducated hick. The benefits to an AR (ArmaLite Rifle) for home defense are light weight, low recoil, ease of operation, being a rifle caliber (don't forget that 80-90% of people shot with a pistol caliber round survive their wounds, and on average it takes 2.XX rounds of a pistol caliber to incapacitate), rapid followup shots, large enough capacity to deal with most any number of threats, and greater accuracy (LEO have only a 25% hit rate with pistols, civilians have only a 40% hit rate with pistols, rifle hit rates are estimated to be in the 80% range).
Oh, and a rifle would need the select fire capability to fire in either full auto or 3 round burst mode to be considered an assault rifle. The rifle in the video, nor most black rifles owned in the US, are not one of these.

Assault rifle is not a proper term. What was displayed is simply a semi auto rifle. Assault is a term used to describe a rifle is a battle scenario, such as in war time. It is also a term used to try to demonize such a rifle.

depends where you live, you need a Class 3 permit. I'd suggest you look it up on wikipedia for more info. It's really complicated to get one. It is easier to get one in state like AZ and GA, and pretty much impossible in Cali.
