Detailing Dirtiest Car Ever! Seat Removal Chevy Tahoe

  • This is 2003 Chevy Tahoe used as a work truck for 17 years with 300K miles and hauls dogs, tools, and ladders etc... The owner is a good customer, so it was time to remove the years of germs and bacteria with a deep carpet cleaning and interior detailing. However, I later found out (as you will see in the video) that every 4 years or so, he removes the interior and power washes the floor. Subsequently, to no ones surprise, the floor was rusting from the top down. So we had to remove all the seats and carpet to rust proof the metal AFTER detailing. Hope you enjoy this complete disaster i the Detailing Dirtiest Car Ever! Seat Removal Chevy Tahoe episode. -Larry

    Just a tip for the headliner repair part. I used to work in an interior shop and these chevys were notorious for this... The headliner isnt falling down because the original glue is bad, its falling down because the foam backing has disintigrated. You have to use a scuff pad to get rid of as much of that decaying foam before you can glue it back up like he is. if you dont get rid of the foam first, its just gonna come back down in a few days

    • @muminiasty
      @muminiasty Год назад

      This is exactly what this is. That headliner needs to come down for a full restoration.

Step dads 2002 Ram 1500 was 430k before he sold it. Yes, he sold it. My 2010 Sebring has 230k miles, brothers 2006 G6 hit 200k last week, dads old 2003 Ram 1500 hit 210k before he sold it, uncles 2004 or 2005 Buick (unsure of the model) had 290k and the transmission was just starting to slip. My Grand Prix didn't quite make it that far, sadly, it had too much rust but it made it to 170k before the brakes went out completely (landed in the driveway but lost it pulling it into the garage lol) and the gas line was leaking. Everything under the hood was amazing, just not the body. I'll put money on it that it hits 400k.

    It’s fun to watch the dirty ones too. Also, being from Michigan (salt belt) I’ve noticed vehicles suffer from floor pan rot from the top down. It’s typically from salty slushy boots during the winter, and the lack of rubber floor mats. Parking lots and sidewalks are covered in salt and other corrosive chemicals in the winter to protect from icing. With no rubber floor mats to catch the wet salty boot drippings, the salt water from the boots sink into the carpet and rest on the floor board paint. After a few winters, the floor boards rust out. Rubber mats are the best way to protect from this along with regular cleaning under the carpets. Keep it clean!

    Some WeatherTech rubber formed mats would be the perfect thing for that guy’s Tahoe. The front floors fit from edge to edge and the center floorboard mat goes from door to door and they make one for the back area too. Not only do they have raised edges to trap and hold liquids like melted snow, mud or in his case dog pee. But they are easily removed and cleaned. It would save that guy a lot of work and be so much easier to clean.

    Another amazing job with AMMO! Thanks for the video. Way out of the normal vehicle range and back to where it all began with regular keeps. The only professional that does not need to do work vehicles at this point in your career. Not to big or to proud to do great work at all times.

    Were you ever a science teacher? With all of your detailed and comprehensive explanations of the processes you use and the methodology you employ, I totally see you in another video describing how nuclear fusion works... and us understanding.

    In my shop, we used to
    Spray paint floorboards when ever there were milk spills or spills where there was a lasting odour. The paint seals the metal and does a good job of masking the residual smells.

    I've had a few of those complete interior disassemble jobs to get somewhat clean. 1 came in after having sat for 4 years with all 4 windows down about 3". Under the carpet there was 6" of standing water. Had to replace the front seats due to motos freezing up.

    It's a good idea to pull a door sill panel once in a while and check your floor. My truck had a bad back window seal and my carpet was perpetually wet and that wetness would creep. I had to remove the seats and carpet and paint my floors as you did.
