    Lol got caught twice last night by the same guy, escaped once but unable to escape the second and I thought I had it under control. Some guys have just enough speed and efficiency along with the right timing and are able to get the initial catch and then they are strong enough to hold you there until they are able to adjust and tighten it up. Thank you 🙏 Im gonna try this out and work on it. This is a prevention that leads to a stack and down to a choke. Brilliant and Brutal.

    "Getting triangled, uh, SUCKS, so here's how to..." Love the informal commentary, Stephan! Bravo.

    Thank you so much for the book resource. I just downloaded it and I am looking forward to diving deep into it. Your videos have been extremely helpful to me. I am truly grateful.
    Currently. I am a Judoka, but I am really trying to improve my Ne-waza (ground game) since I am starting to compete more and more in BJJ tournaments. Keep up the good work. You're a great teacher. Thanks again from Southern California.

      Yea that sleave grab and pull makes it way easier to pull the arm in to your hip. Technical and efficient. Those are the little technical details that save your energy.

    Is it safe to do a tracheal choke like this rolling?

  • @jiujitsyou1584
    @jiujitsyou1584 10 лет назад

    first guard pass I ever learned. look guys, for a no gi variation that applies in all aspects of ground work. just keep your shoulder above your opponents knee. if you lose the sleeve grip beware the placement of your knee as you pass because the may "curl" it in order to rotate into a deep triangle and/or armbar transition. great vid tho as always where are the vids of stephan competing?

  • @gear772
    @gear772 9 лет назад

    hey Professor Stephan, could you make a video on how to avoid getting your guard passed when you put someone in a triangle. i can never finish a triangle because everyone just keeps circling and slipping their head out. if you already have this video im sorry for asking

  • @carguy3460
    @carguy3460 7 лет назад

    Noob question but....When you have the one arm grip and swap it to your other hand to pass, when you're standing, what's to stop the BG from grabbing behind the heel on the free hand side for a sweep?

    Can you do a video on how to recounter that triangle counter at just before the 2 min mark? I have seen lots of guys bait the triangle only to do that same counter. However I’ve seen guys re- counter it but when I try I can’t seem to find success. Thanks!

    I always get put in the Triangle but it's not the triangle that finishes me its the arm bar he does after he gets the triangle

    Very true about the nature of the guys who can pass triangle like that.

    I have two questions. 1. How much resistance should i do on drills? When you learn a new move i can understand that full force resistance is not so good for the person trying to learn how the move feels like. But after a while is full force resistance eany good for drills?
    2. As a white belt how can i learn something from sparring with purple, brown and black belts? Do you have eany thoughts about how to think about sparring from white to black? I believe that everybody thinks different but it is intressting to hear how your thoughts are.
    Thanks for great videos =)

    • @jiujitsyou1584

      Koppakuoriainen take it easy while you drill. it's not a competition. it's repetition. the mother of all skills.

    • @rileyo
      @rileyo 10 лет назад

      Give little resistance during drilling, but not dead fish either. Watch Richie in the video and how much he participates, but doesn't resist. You're letting the person working on the technique lead the dance, but you're not passed out in their arms. Try to be malleable, let your training partner move your limbs around, but don't flop over like you're unconscious. Communicate with your partner, ask them if they want more or less participation from you.
      And that's one to grow on.

    The first Gracie Jiu-Jitsu pass I ever learned from their videos back in 1996-97. Needless to say I got repeatedly triangled as they taught you to get triangled on purpose so that novices wouldn't pass their guards. Brilliant strategy but a crappy thing to do the people who bought their videos!

    Doesnt matter how the person you spar against is built, everyone will fall to a triangle if you apply it correctly. Even mailboxes..

    • @k9m42
      @k9m42 9 лет назад +4

      Not realy. Size strength and skill defending a triangle makes it that much more difficult to get an effective one. I pass very good purple and brown belts with this. Sometimes you get caught a lot of times I dont.

    That was all pretty confusing. Are we expecting the guy on bottom to just lay there and not try to tangle us up or trip us up?
