  • We have a very interesting camera Q&A episode. While Fujifilm is amazing, wouldn't any full frame camera pretty much destroy it due to being better than crop sensors in general? Why cheaper lenses have a better look than big heavy expensive glass. Nikon vs Canon.

      Honestly don't know if the bitcoin thing is a scam (not that I have any or would give them to you if I did) - I tried to watch a Spacex stream the other day and scammers had somehow hijacked their official channel and then inserted an AI generated Elon saying to scan a qr code into the livestream, which they did in a couple of minutes and then delayed the stream. They even AI generated the official announcers/commentators voices introducing the scam segment so it was seamless.

      Also_ yes: the lens is a big part of a camera systems "color science." From the coatings to the materials used in production all give a lens a distinct color signature. But of course the way that the logarithmic dynamic range of the camera sensor is designed also affects the way that colors are rendered so a Sony lens on a Nikon or Canon camera body will look different to what it does on the OEM.

      the reason Nikon doesn't is because for stills photography it's not got the resolution that people want to see anymore. Voigtlander still makes some more vintage calculations and now a bunch of Chinese companies are too, like Light Lens Lab.

    Great video, if you like 40mm you gotta try the Konica 40mm f1.8. This is a rabbit hole to go down when it comes to the colour rendering of different generations of lenses, I really like the 58ish mm range f1.4 and f1.2 are very nice at that length, I have not tried the Voigtlander, If you can get your hands on a Rokkor PF 58mm f1.4 I think you would really like it, there is a 55mm f1.7 that has similar rendering Also a Rokkor PF ( bothe are Minolta Lenses I adapt to Sony, and shoot on Native Film bodies) Fetching quite a bit more money Is the Rokkor PG 58mm F1.2, while I have my eye on one right now I have not yet had the pleasure or privilege of shooting it yet

    135mm APO Sonnar is an awesome lens but pretty modern which you don't seem to love. I suspect the lens youre after is the Contax/Yashica 100mm f2.0. That lens is part of the wave of advanced 80s lenses that still have the overall style of older lenses but increase the resolution a lot. OM 90mm f2.0 auto-macro, the Leica 50mm Summicron-M v4, Nikon 28mm f2.8 AI-S, that era.

    I gotta give Fuji credit when it comes to APS-C. That 40 mp sensor they got in the X100VI, XT5 and XT50 is really "ruling the APS-C game" if you are looking for camera that caters to great photography at an ok price. But because I already got full frame, APS-C always sits at a weird place with me between an iPhone or a little DJI and a full frame Sony E-Mount system. I considered getting a silver XT50 but my "full frame ego" will not "give in". I got the Sony ZV-E1 with the Tilta cooling system and the Sony A7IV - I try to come up with reasons to buy more gear and I just can't - with my Sony 20mm 1.8 G and 35mm 1.4 G Master everything is just heavenly! I thought of MAYBE adding in that Zeiss 55mm 1.8 but other than that, I don't really feel I need anything else right now.

    All lenses have the same compression, only the crop changes. Standing in a huge parking lot and looking at the cars way out there in the distance, they look compressed. It might even be hard to count them, they're so tightly packed. It doesn't matter what lens you use, you're not going to separate them with a wide angle. The WA will just include more surroundings, but the cars in the distance will still be just as compressed. A telephoto lens just crops out the compressed part in the distance. Moving relative to subject will change perspective.

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct 3 месяца назад

      We all know that, but it still looks more compressed because you still frame the person/subject to be normal size filling the frame but the background „appears“ much larger because we suddenly have a very unnatural perspective to the human eye, a more compressed one.

    • @bitspacemusic
      @bitspacemusic 3 месяца назад

      @@drchtct When you frame the shot with a tele, you have to move further away from your subject. Try taking a WA shot from that same position, crop it to match the tele shot and compare. When I was teaching dark room processing, the usual answer to this "myth" was to fill a frame with each lens and see the difference. I sometimes wanted to punch my students.

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct 3 месяца назад

      @@bitspacemusic that's not the same image though... sure you can just take the same shot from the same distance and crop in but then you use like 2mp and lose all subject isolation. It's not the same image. When people talk about the compression, they mean that with the same composition (e.g. full body portrait) the tele gives you way more background compression than the wide angle. It's of no use to take the wide angle lens and crop into 400%. If you have the 90mp Sony or 100mp GFX and don't care about bokeh, using a wide angle and then crop might be decent, but otherwise not really a practical option, though correct in theory.

      @@Sky-ne5gn there’s a big bug with the new cameras that doesn’t affect older gen cameras. Xs20 on up.
      And to be fair even before the bug when you’re paying 2.5k for an xh2s the auto focus needs to be snapping the heals of Sony and canon and the rest. Eye tracking doesn’t work reliably is at all, in afc and in a high drive mode, simple walking tracking shots of brides maids and it fails (I know it happened to me at the weekend) . Single point is great but you don’t buy the xh2s to use single point do you? But even then you get false positives and that just shouldn’t happen.

    I hate overuse of shallow depth of field. Looks so unnatural.

      I don't like the bokeh trend too, that's hybi hope there is more high quality lens that's make r f4 or slower, it can be smaller and heaper too, but maybe bokeh lens able to be more profitable? I thought to get only one 28-400mm f4-8 for Zf and use Sony Xperia 1 VI (16,24,48,85-170, 2X macro) for everyday and closer shoots, what do you think? I thought to get a Panasonic HC-X1500 25-600mm camcorder too. Do you think that 28-400mm has good enough micro contrast?

      I agree, there’s no reason a Vlogger should be using a lens that goes all the way down to 1.8, 1.4, 1.2 I do like a little bit of separation, but I also want to see what’s in the background a bit.

    Why you call them Toney and not Foney? They are not cine lens, the sensor won't get full Toney on the photography lens, right?

    Fuji dynamics range is way better than full frame. Especially if you don't use log

    Can't you check telephoto focus on the camera's app? Panny boy for certain does this -- it's your "detachable screen" they gave you with the full-frame GH5... Just like you asked!

    Price wise, you got to already be in the fuji universe to not want to jump to FF for cheaper equivalent DOF lenses for peanuts on ⁶comparison to fujis offerings. Makes if difficult choice with higher costs than FF, dammit can get a 24-70 f2.8 on FF and do away with some of my FF bits. However what amazing choices we have these days and the Fuji is such a fun way 16:59 16:59

    Shopping for and buying photo gear can be fun. But I’m starting to think the fun of USING the gear is inversely proportional to the number of pieces of gear I own. I don’t think I’ll ever have as much fun as I did when I only had one camera. Too many options is a curse. My attention span is divided among so many things I couldn’t follow today’s video. It’s me, not you.
