So, this is the same woman that sang Vilja leid, Que se siente and Shallow, just to mention three of them. Sometimes I feel good with myself because I know this woman, this amazing singer and I enjoy her voice on daily basis while many more people doesn't even heard her name. But I don't want to be selfish, I would love more people to listen to her.

Also you can see more skilled singing out of Marko in Ayreons - Theory of Everything (love and envy is a good example song. but there are many others.)
I’ve noticed a lot of times she raises one arm. Getting all of that openness and power down her entire body! Floor Jansen is the Valkyrie Goddess of the Netherlands! We have to give an honorable mention to our Viking King Marko Hietalla too! We in the NIGHTWISH Army are devastated he left the band!
Floor said in an interview that that's the only outfit she didn't design in collaboration with costume designers. She found it on the internet and fell in love with it and the maker (in Austria IIRC) just made one to fit her.
Looks damn good - makes me think of The Black Prince (dress design).
Someone said give Floor a sword and shield NOW! - Oh Yeah! That's the only thing missing, The Nightwish Army is at your command!

This is unbelievable difficult song to perform. After that high note, right before 05:00. after that. Its all perfect timing. And they are live.... so really incredible.

I love the fact that people who really know about singing, are surprised and appreciate both floor and fans, makes us feel that we do not exaggerate their skills just for being fans, but that there really is a unique artist here .. thanks and big hug from Argentina!
One of my favorite Floor songs is Sleeping Sun, Nightwish - live in Tampere 2015. Simple, yet very beautiful.
I think sleeping sun from end of an era is the best version.

please please please react to 'While your lips are still red" (Live at their Wembley Show in 2015) if you want to hear more of Marko, it's one of my fav NW songs and a totally different song compared to what they usually create!! Must admit that it often makes me cry, though... :D

@@missrubyphoenix i respect your opinion. Personally I loved the old NW and the operatic vocals. Tarja voice mixed perfectly with their music and that's why they became famous. The most powerful songs are from oceanborn. There was no orchestra or Marco singing. Just 5 teens having fun and making great music.

Marco Hietala is the bassist. Amazing still after a failed vocal cord surgery in the early '90s. For more Marco check out 'While Your Lips Are Still Red' or 'High Hopes' with Nightwish, or 'Isäni ääni' with his own project. One song you might enjoy, it always makes me smile but is instrumental, 'Last of the Wilds'

In his biography, Hietala states that he went to the surgery with no better knowledge. He later found out - to his dismay - that he could have solved the problems with his cords by voice / vocal therapy and rest.

edit: Okay! Those two aren't really in my style but they are still good. But especially in the second one, I can clearly recognize Marko's voice and style. Such a treat. BUT! He's so young, only a baby, and clean-shaven! LOL!

Thanks for your (always clarifying) reactions Valerie. I was one of the not-knowing Dutch crowd. Thanks to Beste Zangers, but even more thanks to reactions as yours I discovered Floor and Nightwish (and After Forever too - a "little" too late). In Nightwish Floor is in her element you say. For me Floor is elementary to the music, she makes every song so much better and more personal.
Beste Zangers was great show, but this is Floor's comfort zone. :-)

I´m so happy this new release has good sound quality. Earlier this Wembley 2015 had, how I would say..., "muddy" sound. But now this feels really good. Even better than Wacken 2013 :-). (BTW, Wacken 2013 dvd sound engineer was Marko, Nightwish bassist. Maybe he is also now??? :D )

This is one of their older songs. I wish they would re record this album with Floor, that would be amazing.
I really hope everyone from Beste Zangers stays in touch. I'd love to see them bring each other on as guests, too. Maybe have Rolf Sanchez do Floor's rendition of Que Se Siente.
If any of them took something away from that show beyond lifelong friendships, it should be how much they branched out and explored other styles.
Oh, and Henk blew me away. He has such good chemistry with Floor, and almost had a proud look every time she performed. His Sound of Silence may be the highlight of the entire show for me. I really want them to do more stuff together, and hope Nightwish does bring him on for a recorded live performance.

First time I listened to this song was today and all the different, colors to her voice like many vocal coaches call it, right(?), also came to play really well in this one, right? So I wanted to see some reaction vidoes and yours popped up on youtube. I remmember you so I wanted to watch your reaction :) The tunes Floor sang here made me think of almost sound effects in freaking movies or something o.o So beautiful and so much quick changes in tones that it almost sounds unnatural XD Cool that you commented on her posture. I notice that too, Floor always stands very firm and now I learned from you and other vocal coaches (from other reaction videos to Nightwish) how important that is :3
My recommendation involves Floor, but is different: Epica feat Floor - Stabat Mater Dolorosa. It’s a very old song, but Simone and Floor are incredible in it.

Wow Valerie windmilling in a corset... Thats serious imagery and with your presence youd nail it on the first take. Have you done Song of Myself from Wacken 2013? She does the Floor thing. Using dynamics and changes and staccatos. Its a great song and Tuomas' writing is extremely good.

This is a song from the bands first album(Edit: 2nd album), which makes it very special for long time fans. It was originally recorded with Tarja and the bands first bass player Sami Vanska. The male vocals was originally spoken in sort of a deathmetal way, Marko choose a different approach. However I really enjoy both versions of this track.
Other nice songs could be, Song of Myself(Wacken), Greatest Show on Earth(Tampere), I want my Tears back(Wacken)... or perhaps some of the folk metal from Endless forms; Elan(Wembley/Tampere), My Walden(Wembley, Tampere) or Alpenglow(Wembley/Tampere).

Marco Hietala from Nightwish (the base player) also sang in a metal band for kids called Hevisaurus , though the only video where you can see his face is Hevisaurus - 100 because he's dressed up as a heavy metal dinosaur.

Devin Townsend Project, Funeral/Bastard/Death of Music Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Best performance ever. Is not music, just feelings blowing away.
One interesting thing about the male vocal part in this is that it was written for Tuomas, the keyboard player. Marco (the bass player and male vocal in the band now) joined the band later, and he has a much different vocal style, which perhaps explains why Marco here sounds a bit spoken-word.

Good suggestion! Amongst Stars, Like Kari wrote, two vocalist same time.
This song is a great example of Floor now being able to vary her vocal colour almost continuously. There are a few passages in this song where floor changes tambre every 2-3 words, which I don't recall her doing so rapidly before the Decades tour. She also did it in a few songs on Beste Zangers, it's particularly noticeable in I Don't Know a Thing About Love.

This, but I would suggest the Wembley 2015 version instead. The vocals are a lot clearer, which is probably more important for Valerie than the arrangement.

Hello. This song goes way back. It may be just me, but I think Floor added a bit more distortion in this rendition than neither in Bloodstock nor in Wacken. You are so right that she is really keeping her posture and her back straight and my guess is that is one of the reasons why she wears high heels, because they really don´t allow her to hunch over too much without losing balance - aiding instruments. I could be completely wrong about that, though.
Somebody has already suggested doing "Song of Myself" and that is a pretty solid choice, if you want to hear yet another colour of Floor´s voice (and then there are, of course, songs from her previous bands to consider) - ruclips.net/video/lQu5QjidHWg/видео.html

Check out The Islander live in Tampere or While Your Lips Are Still Red live at Wembley for more Marco singing. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with his cleaner singing voice.

However Jarkko Ahola is originally a rock - metal singer who has become a nationally popular solo concert act. The performance is a 2011 live performance from a Tv show with orchestra.

Btw...I'm a bit confused about vocal range classification. If my range goes from A#2 to A#5, am I contralto or mezzo-soprano? I googled famous alto's and somewhere they are classified as alto's and somewhere as mezzo's.

You should react to Tapio Wilska singing the male vocals on this one. Marcos voice don't really fit this song in my opinion. Needs more depth. I heard this song in Tallin with Marco and couple weeks later in Lahti with Tapio on same tour. Fits much better.
