What I said may be funny, but I'm serious. They are metal. I see comments like that often about a lot of bands (KISS, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Ratt, etc.). It's like metal didn't exist before 1990, unless it was one of the Big Four. Regarding The Black Crowes, I wouldn't categorize them as alt rock either, rather just plain old rock. I don't see or hear anything "alt" about them.
I watched your Metallica reaction and thought to myself, I wish he would do PanterA. I didn't think you would but then you went and hit out of the park with Domination. Who else couldn't wait for the break down at 5:15. I was like he has no idea what's coming. 1) Primal concrete sledge from the same show is bad ass 2) This love 3) 5 minutes alone
Five minutes alone...a song about a kid's father, who'd had his kid tell him that Phil Anselmo had insulted him, which was later proven to be a complete lie on the part of that kid. The Father said that he wanted five minutes alone with Phil in a ring, to which Phil's Manager responded"No, you wouldn't want to go five minutes alone, in a ring, with Phil. Eventually, things quieted down, but that was the inspiration for that song... according to Phil Anselmo himself.
I saw these guys for the first time in a small club in 1993, at the Montreal Spectrum. Totally insane show. I think the club had a capacity of 800. It's was a far cry from the 1.6 million fans at this Moscow concert. This concert is apparently the 4th largest rock concert ever. RIP Dimebag & Vinnie, the two greatest heavy metal brothers of all time.
