I can't imagine how Phil feels. Feuding with a friend that died, then that death basically causing Dime's brother to never be able to forgive you, then ultimately losing Vinnie as well with no closure. I'm happy Phil is recovered and in a much better place, because that's a lot of pain jack

Such a loss man. We all know Dimebag was a cream of the crop talent that was a cut above anyone else out there at the time. I almost feel like he didn't even get started down here before God took him home. R.I.P. to those we lost and props to Pantera for filling that alpha dog spot metal needed at the time and props for breaking onto the scene, kicked ass from coast to coast, kept eyes on the prize and maxxed the most!

The breakdown in Domination is, imo, perhaps the greatest breakdown of all time. It set the bar for metal for decades to come, and while there are some filthy breaks coming out in modern metal, nothing quite compares to the pounding simplicity of Dime's riff at the end of Domination. It's a thing of beauty. Glad you enjoyed it!

The squeal Dime did on his guitar (dubbed the Dime-squeal) was him doing a pull-off, dropping the whammy and then catching the string on a harmonic with the left hand when pulling the whammy back. All done fairly fast to get that specific squeal
Also, if you want to hear a magnificent solo from Dime, i'd recommend Floods, the outro on that is utterly brilliant

The number of attendance at this venue are simply unknown!! In September of 1991 when this concert was held and recorded/documented the USSR was on it's last legs and would collapse in December of 1991. This was a free venue and yes a LOT of people of all walks of life came to this venue to celebrate the failed coup attempt the month prior in August of 1991 but do you really think counting the amount of people at a free concert when your country is in shambles is a priority? Besides that this venue was held on the grounds of Tushino Airfield wich was a military base so there were also a LOT of soldiers present to keep things under control literally hitting the crowd with billy clubs. ruclips.net/video/EwkfxYQGF1s/видео.html

You should 100% react to Cemetary Gates. It's easily one of the best songs Pantera has ever written. If you react to it though, it has to be the studio version. There is a radio edit that is about 2 minutes shorter than the studio version which is the one you want to avoid. You really get to hear what a great vocalist Phil Anselmo was when he was younger. The dude had some serious pipes at one time.

The most iconic metal band of the 1990s, this "Monsters of Rock" in Russia was one of the biggest symbols of the end of communism, and perestroika ended up escaping the control of the Kremlin. Metal invaded the East, broke the frontiers and showed its strength. But, this live version of "Domination" is a little different from the original version, especially on the vocals. Phill Anselmo could never be technically perfect live, and over time he lost his vocal ability. But he was a symbol of his generation. I will never forget the murder of Dimebag on stage, it was so sad.

I saw them twice in Glasgow and the outside of the venue looked like a disaster zone afterwards with utterly exhausted half naked metalheads just collapsed all over the pavement. No idea how they managed to deliver that power and intensity night after night. Your generation couldn't possibly keep up. Yeah they inspired so many bands of the next generation but in such a watered down soft ass way. Not 1 21st century band even comes anywhere close. It isn't even a contest.

The thing about Vinnie Paul and his drumming, he hits 100% full force on every skin. He is the number 1 reason outside of mic failure that drum techs have multiple drums ready to go incase a skin breaks. He'd break them every show.
Moreover, Vinnie was so accurate with his tempo during live play and recording that not once was he ever required to use a click track or metronome and if there was ever a disagreement on tempo, Vinnie would play "against" a metronome and he was as accurate as it was every single time. The whole band was made of freak talent musicians. Just unreal skill with everything they did.

Pantera influenced almost every modern metal band that exists. They were the first to really bring that just straight fucking groove and the slam style of heaviness that we see in nearly every band with breakdowns in modern music. I've always argued that Pantera essentially started what we know as modern metal, they were a great hybrid of what we have now in terms of heavy and groove in metal, but still were a hold out of the older school guitar solos and musicianship from the 80s. I'd also argue metal music would be different today if Pantera didn't exist.

That feeling of being right there in the downstage frontline right in front of those guys so close I felt I could touch them and join singing my lungs and throat off my body like crazy... that 60 minutes long moment, that feeling... won't ever leave me. The best moment in my lifetime, nothing else like that in almost 49 years.

I don't have time to read through all the comments so I'm going to give you a quick little background. Anytime in the late eighties and before they blew up in the cowboys from hell if you would have gave him a case of beer and a bag of weed they would have played in your garage for 3 hours. I have far too much to write when I realized it would be far easier just to have you watched the MTV behind the music Pantera. There is also a tribute DVD called dimevision volume one. Amazing tribute to Dime but in the realization he is gone you will cry. His god-like guitar-playing is only overshadowed by his personality. With all sincerity he was the most beautiful person. If you made it back stage it did not matter whether your name was Madonna or Billy from The cornfields everybody was treated like family. On a side note the first concert that Madonna did after murder she walked up on two stage with a guitar and played Walk with tears in her eyes

Grew up in Ft. Worth, late teens/early 20's in the 90's. Saw Pantera live several dozens of times from their start at Joe's Garage to filling stadiums. Best years of any life.

Got to see them live in concert twice. I regret not going to see them more, but hindsight is 20/20. I lived in Dallas for ten years and was also lucky to meet both Dime (in 1996) at Guitar Center in Arlington and Vinne (2008) At Milo's across from Cowboy's stadium in Arlington. They were both just sweet and humble dudes. Dime showed me how to play "I'm Broken." He took the time to sit with 16-year-old me who was just learning how to play. Did a shot with Vinne, thanked him, and then left him alone. The world was a better place when they were in it. RIP Abbott Brothers, You are both Metal Legends.

Still my favorite Pantera song 🤘🤘!! One of the greatest guitar solos followed by one of THE heaviest breakdowns ever! Pantera built their following by their live shows and this is a prime example of why they were the top metal band during the 90's. I was fortunate enough to see them several times starting in 92 through the Damageplan tour. Some of the best shows I'll ever have seen.

grew up on Dimebag. fkn love the Abbot brothers. can still remember when Dime died.
would suggest reacting to Sepultura live in Barcelona 1991. so brutal. massive sound even though it's in standard a440 tuning. every song is great but songs like Desperate Cry and Dead Embryonic Cells are next level. imho;)

Love this live performance!!! When they transition into that slow beat like soldiers marching I get super pumped. Love your reaction!! I know you are super into drums but you did say you were trying to learn guitar. I was thinking you should watch Eddie Van Halen’s eruption guitar solo. It is insane. You would be blown away. Eddie was a big influence on Dime Bag. Dime Bag was actually buried with one of Eddie’s guitars. Anyways love your reactions. Can’t wait for the next one.

New to your channel but so far your metal journey has been an absolute joy to watch! I loved your take on newer bands like Avenged being influenced by Pantera and you were absolutely spot on! If you'd like to see where Dimebag got HIS influence from I'd recommend checking out Eddie Van Halen's "Live Without A Net" solo! It would be very eye opening I'm sure and would make for a great reaction!

This video is very important. That concert was The Monsters of Rock tour in 1991. That's Moscow Russia. The first concert held there after the fall of the Soviet Union. The bands on the bill were AC/DC, Metallica, the Black Crowes, and Pantera. Electro Shock Therapy was the Russian band. I was lucky enough to live in Europe in the 90's. When rock concerts were massive and beautiful.
