This band was in a scene of the movie xXx. That footage was used for a music video. First video I ever saw of them, the guy sang the entire song wearing a jacket that was on fire. They have a lot of wild, funny, and/or crazy videos. I've been told the main lyric can have double meanings, "You hate me," or "You have me."
"I've been told the main lyric can have double meanings, "You hate me," or "You have me."" Yes, indeed. "Du, Du hast, Du hast mich" can either mean "You, you have, you have me" or "You, you hate, you hate me". Later it becomes clear he's singing "Du hast mich gefragt" which translates to "You have asked me" (word order is different in German).
I was probably about 13 or 14 when I first heard Du Hast on the radio late at night, thus marking my introduction. In my ignorance, I was convinced this band's gimmick was singing is some "bizarre made up language". But I soon learned it was in fact German and shortly after purchased my first CD, Sehnsucht. I cherished that album and listened to every song. Agree that it's crazy that they actually became popular in the US, but I guess there was a market for their sound, despite the language barrier. It was at a time when hard-hitting heavy riffs were "the" sound.

worked as an electrician at this show. Flake uses the treadmill as averbrato and generator for a mini TESLA coil. you see the bolts coming from the keyboard. takes hours to get it set right so it doesn't run thru his body. the TESLA coil is low amperage.
"Du hast mich" = you have (asked) me, but "Du hasst mich" (spoken the same) = you hate me. So its a word game. "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt" = you asked me but i said nothing. Greets from germany.
I was wondering if Rammstein was covered. I searched and saw a couple of songs (to my surprise). We saw them at a small club in 2001. We quickly made sure we were close to the fire exit, as the pyrotechnics were still insane even in a small indoor club (we could feel the heat). They have such raw power. It was a great show. We were blown away! Definitely one of the best live shows.

Actually it has a double meaning. "Hast" is German for "have" while "hasst" is German for "hate." They are pretty much homonyms. They sound the almost the same while having different meanings. So he could be saying "you have me" and he could be saying "you hate me." It's sort of a play on wedding vows.

Imagine you’re that band on stage and this huge venue full of people and they’re all singing in unison and on key, I might add!
"I don't know if you are old enough to remember, That Kurt Russell movie, Escape from LA" Yup, some of us are old enough to remember the Original, Escape from New York. 😆
😂😂🤘🏼
Pliskin, we need you 🤣🤣
late show at the drive in, edge of town, where the heathens dwell
Some of us are old enough to remember 'The computer that wore tennis shoes' :)
I saw Escape from New York in the theater 👍😁.
in German, this song is a play on words ...
du hasst mich = you hate me
du hast mich
= you got me
Du hast mich gefragt: You asked me
It‘s a pun
@@alexdumortier Und ich hab nichts gesagt: And I said nothing.
@@travishouser5290 Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, Treu ihr sein für alle tagen.....
Du hast in English means ‘I want’
though
They're performances are out of this world
This band was in a scene of the movie xXx. That footage was used for a music video. First video I ever saw of them, the guy sang the entire song wearing a jacket that was on fire. They have a lot of wild, funny, and/or crazy videos.
I've been told the main lyric can have double meanings, "You hate me," or "You have me."
"I've been told the main lyric can have double meanings, "You hate me," or "You have me.""
Yes, indeed.
"Du, Du hast, Du hast mich" can either mean "You, you have, you have me" or "You, you hate, you hate me".
Later it becomes clear he's singing "Du hast mich gefragt" which translates to "You have asked me" (word order is different in German).
It was such a bizarre thing when a band that only sings in German broke in America. You need to do “Amerika” by them (its wunderbar)
@@jw11432 well, if some like Korpiklaani or other groups singing in even less intelligible languages like Finnish, and they can still gain a following in the US, German is not yet that exotic.
Randomly discovered them because of David Lynch's LOST HIGHWAY movie soundtrack including them.
The main singer has a Pryotech license & does all the Pryotech for their shows.
Damn. Must take him for ever he probably hires. Big crew to help set them up and then he puts that butcher apron and kills them and comes out to sing lol 😂
All of the members have pryotech licences as far as I know
Chilly Pingu well that’s handy
🤣🤣🤣
How do the band auditions go?
🤣🤣🤣
@EriolTolkien Not just the Band, also the Stuff.
I thought Kiss liked fire but Rammstein takes it to another level. I saw them in Atlanta in 2012. It was the best concert I've ever seen. 🤘
This has to be the funniest review I've seen😂 your reactions were absolutely priceless!!!
LOL! When you asked, "Is that normal?!?", I was like "Oh man, is he in for a ride!".
I can answer every question you have about this video with just two words.
They're German
Technically speaking, that's three words ;)
@@thomasaantjes482 no, the contraction is one word. THEY'RE. If i didn't use the contraction and said THEY ARE, then it would be three words.
no, that's Rammstein ;)
KMFDM is another hardcore industrial band from Germany, but they are completely different from Rammstein. Love them both.
🇩🇪💪
Stoked ur reviewing this cuz this is my fav band and song of all time.

@@allisondaugherty8890 wow, me imaginó que la sangre se altera y la adrenalina está a tope, disfruta ese concierto, saludos!
But no chances to get tickets! Waited actually at the moment they went online with my 400k internet on cable: right at the second the selling started (German Tour) the internet of the vendor got broke! Reloading thousand times and after 5 minutes the site loads. But all tickets, in every german city are sold! I wonder, how the others made it. According to measureing my connection is faster than 97% of the rest of Germany. Cable, no WLAN. Luck? I don't get it :(
@@TheApp9 de echo aquí en México ya no hay boletos para ir a verlos, creo que como es una banda de las mejores, es garantía de buen show, vaya suerte que te cargas tu, pero no te desanimes, saludos desde México!
Till lindeman (singer) is a licensed pyrotechnition and it takes 60 hours of preparation for their stage show..
Good to know.
worked as an electrician at this show. Flake uses the treadmill as averbrato and generator for a mini TESLA coil. you see the bolts coming from the keyboard. takes hours to get it set right so it doesn't run thru his body. the TESLA coil is low amperage.
omg "This man is on a treadmill." Bro you had me dying in laughter here, I needed that.
He: Is that normal?
Me: first time?
No ? Needed after time XD
"Du hast mich" = you have (asked) me, but "Du hasst mich" (spoken the same) = you hate me. So its a word game. "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt" = you asked me but i said nothing. Greets from germany.
Heard they tweaked teh lyrics on purpose to mess with english speakers

I was wondering if Rammstein was covered. I searched and saw a couple of songs (to my surprise). We saw them at a small club in 2001. We quickly made sure we were close to the fire exit, as the pyrotechnics were still insane even in a small indoor club (we could feel the heat). They have such raw power. It was a great show. We were blown away! Definitely one of the best live shows.
They're the nicest guys you would ever meet. Very kind guys. What you see on stage is an act and they're great at it.
"Did he just shoot fireworks in the damn stadium?!"
I mean that was less than usual to be honest.
Jamel: "Is that man on a damn treadmill? And is that normal?"
Me: Well, considering Flake usually does weirder $h*t than that in their concerts, this is pretty tame. 😀
Also, since the keyboardist doesn't usually get as much on-stage exercise as the rest, that's just practical...
Love the reaction, saw a couple other vids thought the same, keep up the great work!
Went to see these in 2012, immense, you do get warm at a Rammstein gig!! Absolutely brilliant entertainment and what a sound!!!!
Seen these guys in England, Holland and Germany.
The audience is split in two.
Fans going crazy and newbies awestruck and open mouthed.😂
I am still unsure if to get tickets for Torino 2020. Pretty expensive, unfortunately.
@@arainbowonmyplate8634 But worth it! believe me. There are not many bands with such special live shows.
“Is that blood on his arm?” Dude usually he’s covered in blood and sometimes wearing a butcher’s apron
and often walks around on stage with a penis spraying fake sperm and all sorts of stunts .....someone once said that if you go to a rammstein concert, be sure to be prepared to die of heat stroke!!lol
I was 14 in 1997, that was when I found out about Rammstein and heard Du Hast for the first time. I find it hard to believe that people in 2021 have still never heard of Rammstein. I have watched a lot of these reaction videos of this video and I find this guy's reaction the best. He makes me laugh hard.
💜
I saw this video on another channel, actually liked the song and just had to see your reaction...priceless!!! Thanks! I showed my daughters, their reactions were similar.lol
Rammstein has the most impressive stage show since 70s KISS.
Yes they have, its amazing
I saw Rammstien at Chicago open air for a 3 day festival amazing! The BEST live show/performance, slipknot was very good that weekend as well
Pink Floyd Pulse tour was amazing
What I love is that this is actually a love song. It's lamenting a bad relationship .
You can have a relationship, good or bad, just don't involve the government in it by getting married. It is not worth it for men.
@@juliusfucik4011 truth
Actually it has a double meaning. "Hast" is German for "have" while "hasst" is German for "hate." They are pretty much homonyms. They sound the almost the same while having different meanings. So he could be saying "you have me" and he could be saying "you hate me." It's sort of a play on wedding vows.
Rammstein is amazing live ‼️I have had the privilege of bartending at two different venues Rammstein played & absolutely loved their shows
You had me at 'that crowd control 2:37 ' :) thank you for an awesome reaction!
Nothing is normal about Rammstein. I got to work two shows for them and watched from backstage. They are incredible live!
Hard to believe how old this song is.
Approx 97-98. First US release.
Still so fucking good. I used to listen to it while training in the late 90s, and I still listen to it to this day! Rammstein really aged well.
Stilll sounds like I just heard it for the first time
Du Hast will live way beyond us.
I want this to be the last song I listen to!
A German friend of mine introduced me to Rammstein a couple of years ago and I'm hooked! Du Du hast Du hast mich.
