THPS 3 looks kinda cool tbh
fr though those sprite animations in 3 are gorgeous. They're so fluid, and they have a real sense of mass. I hope whoever did them got their just rewards.

@@DreadfulSora my assumption is that(arguably) many 2D sprite based games seem to use questionable color palettes for the player sprite in order to make them more visible & stand out in the levels, is probably why Tony Hawk is darker colored in game.

I was all over the GBA version of THPS2 back in the day (which was actually pretty decent), but had NO idea there was a GBC port as well. Nice vid.

I never played these gameboy ones growing up, however I did love the one that was on DS. I used to just skate around and put the song 'Holiday' by Greenday on repeat from the sound track LOL. Spent soooo many hours on that one.

RemixedVoice I found portable consoles the only ones worth owning. TV consoles just got replaced with a PC after a while and I've never looked back.
I had the original GBA THPS. I honestly remember it being super fun, I think it served it's purpose for a younger age group.

I had Pro Skater 3 on my Game Boy, when I was a kid that was the most difficult game I owned. THPS was meant to have more than 2 buttons, haha.

I remember being a kid and having this general fascination with these ports. I only ever had Pro Skater 2 on GBC and I couldn't ever figure it out. I loved the console games, and I couldn't wrap my head around these ports being pretty meh when I was like 5 years old. Now might be a good time to go back and play them.
I like your videos, can´t wait for one on the advanced ports. Those reviewers have to understand that when you review a game you are supposed to know the capabilities of the console. That´s why VD-dev were the best.

Hate to say it mate, but i was actually angry at THPS3 GBC. I got real frustrated over Tony Hawk being black.
Tony Hawk 3 on GBC is my jam, it was that and pokemon that i played the most as a kid. i even maxed out the high scores on every level with every character.

I remember picking up pro skater 2 on the gbc years ago. I think the gba version was out at the same time but didn't have an advance yet. Honestly not a bad game to kill a good 30 minutes or so. A lot of the old handheld extreme sports games are. Except for thug 2 gba, that game still is just lousy. Love the video dude!
thps2 on the gameboy advance is the best port it looks so much like the ps1/pc version
MrJ0mmy Tony Hawk 3 and 4 on Gameboy Advance expanded upon the formula that the second game had. They are pretty good as well.
The whole Turok series ended on the Game Boy. Apparently they sold well enough to warrant four ports. Neat. I like the music.
I also like the music from THPS. At least the stuff by Allister Brimble.

i saw a kid playing these last year in high school. that was cool. he was a weirdo but he was also one of the Cool Kids and was also nice to me, a nice guy in general nothing to be too angry about
I had tony hawk 1 on gbc as a kid, and even then it sucked.
It was the 1st game I had on GBC and I think it stockholmed me into loving it.

I had the first game on Game Boy Color and hates it when I was 7. One of my earliest memories of being dissatisfied with a purchase.
I remember buying THPS2 from Slackers for the gameboy when I was a kid. I think that was one of the first, if not the first game I ever bought.
Surprised you didn't mention the animation in the third game. It's pretty decent, though it has that weird feel many low detail but well animated games have.
Tony Hawk Underground 2 on the gba was actually incredible. I played that game a bunch
THPS2 on the GBA blew me away as a wee lad.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for GBC was actually the first game I got for my GameBoy Advance. I traded it to a friend for a Transformers toy. I recently found the original box and manual for it so I am tempted to buy another copy just to complete the set, even if it isn't a very good game.

Wow THPS3 on GBC looks super nice. I can't believe they achieved that on an 8 mhz z80.
The GBC ports might not be particularly amazing, but the GBA THPS2 was actually pretty incredible.
One game that I used to be impressed by in sort-of this series is Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX. It has more natural colors, smoother animations and the same idea as THPS3 in how you control. In some aspects a non-THPS-game might be the best THPS game for the GBC. Check it out!

You might get interested in playing Road Champs: BXS Stunt Biking. It's a BMX game on GBC which gives a try to the simuation genre, except with the limited controls of the portable console, the result is quite frustrating...and a fucking hard video game in the end.

THUG1 for GBA is really, really good. Anyways, THPS still has a thriving community that lives on online with THUGPRO.

I was a huge fan of the first THPS for PlayStation, almost to the point where that was the only game I would play for like 6 months. My mom gave me the GB Color version for Christmas and I really hated it. I hated it so much I never had any faith in any other hand held version of a THPS game.
