Loving my 116600 4000 and personally think it's the best dive watch Rolex out there .... It's also made me appreciate my 39mm Explorer 1 for its simplicity and lightness ... A perfect duo!
It’s the best Rolex sport model ever made… and only produced for 2 and a half years… Rolex phased out because they were already planning the Submariner to increase to 41mm and the SD43mm … SD4K is the perfect sport model if you can find one in 2023
This is a super rare model from Rolex. 3 year production run accompanied by low production numbers during that 3 year period makes for a great investment and big value appreciation in the years to come.
I love hearing how excited you are about this watch because it’s exactly the way I was when I got mine. I normally buy new but also got this one preowned but minty mint!! Like if they didn’t tell me I would’ve thought it was brand new lol anyway I love the channel and watching how your collection has evolved. Cheers!
I agree with you; I wouldn’t risk servicing the watch if you’re happy with it. Didn’t know about the non-maxi case, much better esthetically! The new Sub/GMT are essentially square watches 😄
Spot on review, very well done, thank you. I just bought a 2014 copy of this watch and love it! The size is perfect. And it is more capable than the Submariner with NO cyclops! I wish there were more Rolex with date complications sans cyclops. I like having the date but the cyclops is inelegant. I WILL dive in this watch.
Oh, and btw, I took delivery of my Tudor Black Bay Ceramic a few weeks ago. So far so good. After initially running fast it is now spot on. I love it on a NATO strap.
It’s almost impossible to find it…I’m on the search now but very difficult. I have owned several Rolex sport models but this one … it’s the perfect sport model ever made
Lovely piece, that I didn't know existed. I thought the SD went from Alu bezel to SD43 50th. This one is so smart and you are so right about the lungs, the more I see the maxi case the more I think Rolex will shave them down next baselworld. If people want a large sports watch then they can go SD43 or Exp II. So is the date window the same size as the Sub (under the Cyclops)? The Cyclops is Rolex DNA however you can only read the date when looking head on. Many thanks, have a great weekend.
SPY 1691 Ditto in fact, I kinda knew about it but hadn’t realized it was the one to get and when I did, I got really lucky finding a mint one with papers within a day here in HK at the right price. The date window is always the same size I believe, you can see how small it really is when looking sideways under cyclops. The current Sub is still a beautiful watch but almost a cushion case in comparison. The SD43 is beautiful but over 200gr which is needlessly big if the 40mm does the same job. So I try to look ahead and I think this is the one to get while it’s still available at a reasonable price.
@@UptickWatchReviews was sent for service via Goldsmiths shop, as soon as I got home and spotted the marks I rang them with steam blowing out of my ears! Nothing can be done as the Rolex service centre is closed due to Covid....... sent them photos and am awaiting a response. Do I trust them with it again? Can’t bear to look at the watch anymore ☹️
Much respect for Rolex technology, and I really want to love ceramic, but it's just too shiny😐 I'll stick to my SD 16600. Sir, wear your watch in great health!
Date window is too far in and the end links protrude above the lugs. A tad too heavy .Went back to the 16600 for correct proportions imho. The deep sea 136600 finally corrected that date window. Took them long enough. The 116600 is still a top piece
jmoore20121992 The Sea-Dweller is a dream diver but the 16570 is more usable as an every day piece probably due to the size and GMT complication. The 16560 was my first Rolex and still the one I wear the most. Watch my review of it. I went for a usable one, that’s is with active lume and serviced so I can really wear it “hard”. Find an original piece that did not get polished if possible.
Currently end of December 2020 these are now about £12.5k at these prices still a worth while buy you think? Or pickup at retail sd43k for sub 10k. Just saw NOS example from 2017 go for 12.5k today
I agreed with you … I had from the Submariner ND , Hulk to the SD43MM and Deepsea blue and I will definitely say… this is the best of all of them … this is definitely the best sport modern diver ever made
Hi. Thanks for this wonderful review. Im greatly considering this timepiece. I love everything about it but a bit worries on its thickness. Im not sure if you had tried a marine master SBDX017 or SBDX001 or the newer prospex MMs, but how do they compare in terms of thickness? Thanks once again.
Not really. It's a lot more balanced and... beautiful really. The supercase Sub takes a while to get used to. At first I didn't really like it and passed on the black and the hulk. Now I kinda like it but it's still nothing like this SD4K.

LOL, I have a 214270 mk2 and am thinking about pulling the trigger on a SD4K, wear them in health.

One of the best from Rolex. Mine is running at +1 for 16 days.
I just got my 116600 largely influenced by this review. You are right, it is a super watch and looks so compact and elegant.

Gorgeous watch. The sleeker lugs, no cyclops, the beautiful dial and bezel - it looks great on your wrist. And yes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Beautiful ! Thank you for sharing
Love this watch! Thanks for the video.

I'll take style advise from a Frenchman any day! It's the best sports Rolex they ever made, full stop!
My favorite Rolex.
My grail as well my man. Great purchase
I ❤ this watch, it’s my next purchase to complete my Sea Dweller collection.

I really like the new anniversary one with the red writing and cyclops aswell it’s just perfection
Pro tip : you can watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
@Daxton Lukas Yup, been using flixzone} for since november myself :)
This is prefect watch
I'm comparing it to my ref. 16600 and thinking about upgrading to the ceramic bezel.
Not too small for your wrist in anyway. Thanks for the video.
Great Review, looks just out of the showroom
what is the price you paid for it

Great video. Thinking about swapping my SubND for one, but not sure about the ill-fitting end links. Think it might bother me in time!
Plus the date near centre of the dial sold it got the 16600 the True last preceramic
Seeing grey prices on 41 sub this seems like the sensible choice
My old sub came back from Rolex service with scraped case, and running fast, so I sent it back and came back again with fresh mark on the crystal!!!
I’d lose it if that happened

What size are ur wrists my friend?
Nothing wrong with wrist hair mate.
For my first Rolex (every day piece), should I go with the 16570 polar or save longer and get the Sea Dweller 4000, 116600?

A year later and it’s at £15k in the UK….for a worn piece .
Have watched this video a few times, its a great review... 3 year review?
I can make it short: keeper forever, best diver Rolex or anyone else will ever make.

Well, I could never pull the trigger on a MM300 but I wear the SD4000 easily so I think that answer the question.

@@UptickWatchReviews What should the price be now in the US for a true NOS unworn piece? I do love it.
Best choice as Submariner is common like potatoes
this watch price will be 40k in 10-20 years !!
I agree.
6 month review?
jmoore20121992 Still just as good!
Rare watch. Only 8 for sale within UK at the moment compared to 100s of Subs and other Sea Dwellers. Incredible.
Looks like an Invicta.
