  • I think this clip of the great Tommy Cooper sums up his crazy act pretty much as most people remember him. Performing on The Main Attraction TV Show in 1983, this features the Arrow-Thru-Head, Dover Pan, Vanishing Box are the iconic "Bottle Glass, Glass Bottle" routine. All utter madness and utter genius - Just like that!

The bottle glass trick will be forever funny with his performance! Even knowing how it's done he still makes it hilarious 😂

Well said. Who is there now that's comparable? Daire O' Brian? Richard Ayowade? Frankie Boyle? Jimmy Carr? God help us. There was a warmth and kindness to the work of comics like Tommy and the rest.

@@kevinwhelan9607 maybe not in the exact same vein, but personally I think Jeki Yoo takes a lot of great inspiration to be a magician, comedian, and showman.
Jeki Yoo and Penn and Teller are still by far my favorites to watch, along w of course Tommy Cooper. I think all of the former fellas draw inspiration from his performances, personally, by mixing magical acts with a goofy nature.
as far as Jeki goes, he's a "somewhat younger" fella that has a similar charisma to Tommy. his magic acts are just as solid as Tommy's, and he has that same sort of wholesome warmth that mr. Cooper brought.
I highly recommend searching his act on Penn and Teller's "Fool Us" series, specifically his season eight appearance. he didn't fool them, however you can tell that he impressed them. him and his wife are both fantastic magicians that blend it with comedy well.
nobody will ever do it the same as Tommy unfortunately, however there's been fantastic comedic magicians in every generation. Tommy was great for my grandparents, Penn and Teller was great for my parents, and Jeki Yoo is great for my generation. I've also seen great prospective talent in the newer generations. they take our beloved ideas and put their own spin on the talent, and I think it will continue for a very, very long time haha

@@James-kv6kb it was particularly heartbreaking because he was a beloved comic that died on stage, while everyone thought it was a skit. in another reality, it could potentially have been prevented, yanno?
maybe or maybe not. but that's why people obsess over how he passed away. it was theoretically preventable and we could have even more shows/episodes with our favorite.
at least he passed away doing what he enjoyed.

@@SGEnjoyer you do realise you're talking to a stage performer and magician that new every single thing about this man. My point is that the entertainment needs to stop when somebody dies, people being obsessed with seeing him drop dead because his famous is disgusting and Google shouldn't be showing it . People are so disgusting there's only a few likes when he's actually making people laugh and when he has a heart attack and dies the number skyrocket forgive me but I'm so sick to death of dumb human beings thinking everything's about their entertainment.
