As you pointed out, the case here was made by Micro Accessories (Australia) case - marketed as a Slimline C64 case. Many liked the new look of the C64 when it came out. Rather than buying a new computer, they would retrofit their breadbin with this aftermarket case. The LED was placed at a different position than a C64C. As you also pointed out, the owner moved the JiffyDos switch to the side even though the case already came pre-done with the reset and kernal switch holes in the back. I guess he didn't like having to reach around the back for switching the kernal or that switch would get in the way if you were plugging stuff in and out of the expansion port :) - Loved the nice cleaning job! Like magic! haha
When I saw the case it brought back memories and I do remember seeing it in Australian computer magazines it could have been Your Commodore. South Australia is not that far away for me being in Victoria.
I found one of these things too, in a shed in Tigerton Wisconsin. The restoration turned out great, and I also converted the Longboard inside into a PAL C64. It’s on my own channel.
Very cool video. I had just picked up one of those South Australian cases recently as well. It is in mint condition, no one had cut out any parts on it for reset or ROM switches. Sadly the long board in it was dead, but picked up a working replacement. They are a cool looking case.
I could see moving the reset switch if you have the computer situated where the reset switch is regularly bumping against something behind the computer and resetting it.
I talked to a friend with that case last night and he indicated that the default position for the DOS switch causes him to accidently hit it when installing accessories or cables. Then after booting... OOps no Jiffy DOS
9:30 - that Commodore 64 model reminds me of my first childhood computer, SpectraVideo 728 (MSX) 😹👍. Also, i still have the original hardwares of the Commodore 64 (tapes / disks / cartridges) and Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
Excellent work. I've seen one of those rare cases on another video a couple years ago... but only one. I suspected the vicII right away bc I had the screen a couple years ago. Anyways. Love humor:)
Great clean up Mike! PS I know you are a fan of "Moon Patrol" - you might want to have a look at "Battle Through Time" on the C64 as it's a variation on "Moon Patrol" with a "Time Pilot" twist to it!
Wait, what? Did I say that? I sent it to Adrian because I promised the family to send some of the stuff to people who could help share Karl's love of everything 8-Bit Commodore

I could not have summarized the video contents better.

Radio Shack was selling Commodore 16 keyboards in unbranded packaging. It was a great way to source keyboard parts back in the day!
Wow, that is something I did not know!
You didnt loose the screw, its safely archived in the carpet, waiting for you to step on it some time in the future.
I'll let you know when/if I end up having to extract if from my foot 😂

Cool! I'll check it out

Sounds like a great find.
I remember seeing these cases for sale in C64 magazines here in Australia.
And here we are, communicating wireless to the other side of the world. Who could have thought that in 1985. 😊

Awesome find RWRT as it I enjoy the look of the non badged Commodore 64C cheers.
Excellent work! Love the ending!!
Thanks Rudy, I had fun with it
Great video! Bummer about the VIC II. I know that feeling. My C64 has a bad VIC II as well. Glad you were able to get it running!!!
Thanks Frank.

Nice aftermarket case. Kinda cool retro.
LOL. Nice video and another C64 saved! Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I added it to my notes to keep an eye out for it.
I love the ending, Mike! 😂
Thanks, the very last few seconds were quite cathartic to make.
Bwahahahahahaha!!!! That was bleeping brilliant! Well played, RWRT!
Thanks. It was quite cathartic
The 800xl needs a slight nudge to get it out too neet case there
Thanks. Overall I like the way it closes but bending boards, even a little bit, is not my favorite thing!
LOL love the box
Yeah, I couldn't resist since it was available (New, never used so no real evidence)
A 1983 dated, defectively manufactured (too much boron in the passivation layer) by MOS Technology custom IC strikes again for the bazillionth time.
So, if I am hearing you right, the villain of this story is a dope?
D Dos = Dolphin Dos
Not sure its going to a good home ????? 🤣😂

@@RavenWolfRetroTech I got the wrong end of the stick.... thought Adrian had seen the strange case and took a liking to it :-)
