It is in the can and just needs a ton of editing. Hopefully Sunday but if not Tuesday.

Thanks Frank, I'm working on it as we speak. It is fixed (At least the video issue). I was wondering if this is something you have seen before?

@@RavenWolfRetroTech I have not seen this one before, but have an idea where the issue was. However, I could be wrong. I am going to need to wait for part 2. LOL.

At just $25 plus shipping the "PINECIL - Smart Mini Portable Soldering Iron" was a game changer for me. It warms up in seconds and is temperature adjustable. Small and is powered using USB C .

Thanks, I will check it out. How does it do on large ground planes like the C64s bottom shield?

Nice work so far:) it's been a while since anyone has had a c64 repair video. I collect and restore them myself. Unfortunately they are getting mose expensive to buy even Untested 😕. Can't wait for part 2:)

Thanks Donald, I am working on it as we speak! I have fixed the video issue and was wondering if it is unusual or something I just happened to not see before?

Honestly, you would know better than me. You have better equipment and experience than me. I've only been doing it for 3 years.. mostly in the winter. I have never seen a screen like that before. I've seen quite a few, but not like that. Good luck:)

Thanks Donald. It seems unusual to me but the fix left me thinking it might be more common and I had just happened to never see it.

What in the heck do you do with all the 64s you fix? There must be 20 of them!

Some have gone to friends and family. Others are going to be sold on my blog this holiday season. I'm going to try to price them fairly low but not so low that they just get picked up by eBayers

looks a lot like the psu i cleaned out after 8 years of constant running :D (without catching fire)
edit: at least on the outside. the inside looks surprisingly clean

I was very surprised how clean it was inside. Still, plenty of bad chips!

I don't think Ray Carlsen is making those products any more and I don't know if I even want to email him about it (per the note on his site I don't want to bother him). I think I need at the least a c64 saver for my recently purchased C64 (assuming the brick didn't kill it the first time I plugged it in). Does anybody know of an equivalent product I can order? I can always purchase an after market PSU, I was just hoping for an inline solution.

Yea, Ray is now only selling PSUs - (edit he does still have savers...) The plans to make the Saver is on his site though...

Ray does still have savers and replacement power supplies on hand. You can find contact info on his site.
