It's a Stacy Adams that I got on-line at GentlemensEmporium.com. Tough to get ascots in the US, most are shipped from UK with long lead times. Mine is microfiber. It is durable and less likely to fuzz due to whisker rub while also having great hand.
Albert, just started to rock these as well. Game changer although not everyone is a fan at least not initially ;). My first couple I found at a community yard sale. They are shorter in length by an inch or so and thinner silk material. However, I just got two new ones from Cravat Club in London and I feel like it's way too much material for warmer seasons? What do you do when it gets warm, say 80+ degrees.
Thank you Sven, I was looking at a photo of me back in 69 dressed up in a blazer wearing an ascot and after becoming acquainted with your broadcast I saw this particular one and thought, "I really want to start wearing an ascot again!' Today I stopped a this fine boutique thrift store and found the perfect small scarf to use and am now enjoying the style of the ascot once again again, thank you!
I wanted to thank you again for this wonderful video. Most importantly, when you demonstrate the way to position and tie the ascot, you are showing something that is so very important: you're showing the way to use a gentle hand. That is what I learned from you! I'm an old man. My generation was taught to take out a lot of frustrations on the necktie. We used to make violently forceful knots that you almost could not undo later. Thank you again for teaching the gentle-handed way to tie a tie.
Great vid... I really love the modified ascot tie as well. I've had my ascots for years and never thought to tie it like a regular tie and bring the long end over... I was use to tying it like the first tie in this video. The knot would always drop or lose.. Thanks for the video...
I started to wear it from now on and thanks for teaching me , I won't forget ! And actually I'd like to use it all the time , not just for especial events !
This is great. I've been looking for a kind of neckwear that is suitable for use in Australia: 1. Protects the back of the neck from sunburn 2. Allows an open top button for cooling 3. Is not exceedingly formal The ascot is ideal
Great video. I didn't know you could tie a cravat like a normal tie then bring the other end over. My attire is almost complete now for my steam train Pullman journey to Stratford upon Avon next month. The Boutonnieres arrived safely and I am so delighted with them. Many thanks.
For all those people saying that the ascot is a "formal" look: It is not. It is an informal look. It's meant to be something you throw on effortlessly.
To me, wearing an ascot is an elegant, comfortable pleasure! Very distinctive, comfortable, elegant, that few men would decide to wear, either because of fear of being different, or the desire to conform to the regiment necktie!
Thanx Sir, in my city Cravat or Ascots r becoming more and more popular....they r back from 2 years....even i pulled off that Traditional cravat knot in a wedding with suit.....i really loved it...it looked so unique and its a great alternative to the necktie.....:D
Have never worn an Ascot before but have always wanted to because I like the style and I dress preppy with neck ties and sometimes bow ties. Looking forward to purchasing a couple.
Those are gorgeous, simple knots. I only recently took to wearing an ascot, and of course did not know how best to tie it. I'm familiar with the old 4-in-hand knot, but these little variations on it are genius!
thank you for this video. it may seem hard to believe but i just turned 45 and i never understood how to make heads or tails of ascots, so i became a tie man exclusively. This video has removed the mystery and my fashion world now has expanded possibilities.
I accidently bought a, what I now know as a Half Ascot, and spent about half an hour trying to figure out how the heck to tie it. Then when I watched this video and learned what you call one of these monstrosities, I laughed for about a half an hour over hearing it as "Halfass". What a perfect term for it.
Great tutorial Sven, many thanks. In fact I just ordered an Cravat. I needed someting to close the gap in my cardigan. So i will be warm and stylish this winter.
great video, I use ascots since late 90s a nice elegant way to dress and not so conventional boring as a tie. I didn't know about third kind of tie you mention. Very, very helpful !
ThankYa kindly, sir, for sharing your wisdom. I have always wanted to wear one. I will now take my time for choosing one, maybe 2, maybe even 3. Salome.
I purchesed four half ascots made of 100silk for a 1€ each at my local thrift shop and i really like them. Great against stiff neck from gentle summer breeze...
I like this and like the slogan, "join the movement." The move has been toward SLOVENLY and "ridiculous" tight slax. I want to go back to 1940 - 1950 suits and looking AND BEHAVING like a gentleman. I'll join that movement!
We had a disco theme for ur staff end of year function, and I wore a cravat in a knot with a open wide collar silk shirt. I got many complimance as I really pulled the 70's look off.
I use the loose middle knot with an unbuttoned shirt. I like the more casual style. Right now, I'm using a large material square as bandanas tied with a small square knot to fasten and tucked into my neck. When around people, I pull it over my nose as an ersatz respirator. Of course, it is color-coordinated with my shirt.
HI THERE, VERY NICE VIDEO, THANK YOU. I AM OVER 80 YEARS OLD, I LIVE IN HAWAII. I WEAR VERY EXPENSIVE ALOHA SHIRTS, ALWAYS WITH A BEAUTIFUL FLOWER LEI. MANY YEARS AGO, I DECIDED THERE WAS SOMETHING MISSING. WHEN YOU GET OLD, YOUR NECK DOESN'T LOOK THAT WELL. I STARTED WEARING THE ASCOT, OR CRAVAT. THIS WAS THE PERFECT ASCENT, ESPECIALLY WITH MY VERY LONG SILVER HAIR.
I am from Spain and in summer, due to the heat, I wear short-sleeved shirts and polo shirts, missing something around the neck (during the rest of the year I wear a narrow tie), would it be correct to wear the gazné or an ascot with polo shirts and short sleeve shirts? Thank you. I love this channel.
Question: What do you think about wearing a silk scarf tied like an ascot? How necessary is it to wear a scarf with the specific ascot shape in your opinion? Thank you!
I own both self tie and pre-tied ascots, and the pre-tied ascots, from Beau Ties Ltd, and Vintage OST ascots are my favorite! Why? The pre-tied ascots have a velcro closure, to fasten the ascot tightly around your neck. When I say tightly, I mean tight enough so the ascot does not slip down your neck, but stays comfortably in place around your neck. The self tie ascot always seems to loosen up and needs to be tightened and adjusted several times during the day to look properly in place under an open collar button down collar pinpoint oxford cloth white dress shirt. I prefer to wear an ascot with the top two buttons unbuttoned, to reveal more of the elegance of the silk ascot! Just my thoughts of wearing an ascot, which is my neck wear of choice. I enjoy the silken comfort and the distinctive elegance that wearing an ascot provides a gentleman.
So pretty much any knot for a tie can be modified slightly for an ascot. Most of them would just be a length adjustment and either avoiding the final through step or bringing the bottom under and over the knot. You could also simulate an ascot if you have a matching handkerchief and tie by trying the tie and pulling the handkerchief under and over the knot.
I got my first ascot last summer. Changed my life. Comfort AND style!
+Larry Gilbert Cool! Where did you get it from?

Gentleman's Gazette can I do this with a vest and dress shirt?
Same here! From the moment i got my 1st one I don't ever wanna wear anything other on my neck :D

Thanks for sharing, Thomas!
I’m the only guy in a 20 mile radius to have/wear an ascot. I am AWESOME!!!
Nice video. have been wearing Cravats with traditional knot since I was 18/19 and am now 80. Recently bought more. I find silk the best.

I got confused, missed a step, and now I'm hanging from my neighbor's chandelier.
But at least you died like a gentleman . and with style .
Indeed, it is a life changer!
At least your hanging in style!
I love you. I work at a formal wear shop. Thanks
Having the same problem, please help.
This video inspired me to wear ascot ties! Thank you.
+Kian Concepcion Wonderful

Insane how valuable this video was, not one, but three ways to tie my ascots/cravats! Thanks you after all those years 🙏
I started to wear it from now on and thanks for teaching me , I won't forget !
And actually I'd like to use it all the time , not just for especial events !

Totally agree with this. I’ve just bought one to wear to a party rather than a normal necktie
To me, wearing an ascot is an elegant, comfortable pleasure!
Very distinctive, comfortable, elegant, that few men would decide to wear, either because of fear of being different, or the desire to conform to the regiment necktie!
I got my first ascot, today. I'm amazed at the difference. Thanks for the tips.

Men need to understand how to be classy again, thank you for the lesson!

love it! soo classy, comfy and stylish vs a traditional tie
I finally know the correct way of tying ascots by this tutorial.
Thanks for teaching me how to tie a half-ascot. I have long wondered how to tie such a tie. Happy New Year. Best regard Tore Chr. (Norway)
Very informative for the distinguished gentleman 👌. Thx for sharing
A superb demonstration & tutorial to tie the ascot & cravat. Thanks for providing!
great video, I use ascots since late 90s a nice elegant way to dress and not so conventional boring as a tie.
I didn't know about third kind of tie you mention. Very, very helpful !
That modified four-in-hand is a game changer 👍🏽
Thanks for this video. Finally I can tie an Ascot. The third way is the best!!!
Excellent video on how to tie an Ascot!
I really like this look. Classy and sophisticated yet casual and relaxed.
I love your gentleman-like accent!
Ascots are so much fun, I hope they one day replace regular ties altogether
Why? They look better, so better if you are one of few that has them so you stand out more in a positive way.
ThankYa kindly, sir, for sharing your wisdom. I have always wanted to wear one. I will now take my time for choosing one, maybe 2, maybe even 3. Salome.

Nice video indeed. A Cravat is extremely elegant.I too prefer the second knot, I will try it today. Thank you so much.
This really helped, I'm working on a cosplay and the character wears a cravat! Thanks Gentleman's Gazette!
Extremely thorough and instructive Sir, I am obliged.

I prefer the first knot; and I always tie it before putting my shirt on -- but that's just me😁

I don’t know how to thank you ! Thank you sir !!
Ah! been looking for this all day. Thanks for the tips!
I think the ascotc cravat is a nice look! Looks comfortable too! I might buy one actually.
I so wish I’d been into menswear a year ago for my wedding. An ascot would have been the perfect style for our casual wedding.
very instructive and clear video! Much better than the pictures on other sites. I got a decent knot on my ascot on the 3rd try
The Goto channel for all fashion questions
Perfect explanation. Thank you!!!
Thank you for sharing your most valuable knowledge.
Edward Fox in the movie Day of the Jackal was my inspiration for buying my first pair of cravats.
My Alucard vampire costume has one of these. Thanks for the tutorial!
I haven’t seen a tuck that good since silence of the lambs. 😃
Wait... 🤣🤣🤣
this video is really useful, i really appreciated it. Thank you, sir!
Great video. After a little practice using the modified #3 example I found that not pulling the knot to tight gave better results
i want to bring ascots back, but with tshirts.

Thanks, I was having a hard time tying my ascot.
I have been waiting for this video for a really long time. Thank you!

So i can wear an ascot even when I go out. I mean just a "normal" day, nothing formal, events etc
+Stefan Mitrovic Yes
Yes u can wear whatever u want whenever u want
Yeah pretty much, and a cravat in particular I think looks more relaxed than a regular tie so you can be casually fancy!
I don’t know man. You might take a beating wearing an ascot at Walmart.
@@Vagen_d probably, but tbf it’s Walmart. Nobody cares about how they look, less so how other people look.
Great help! super simple and efficient learning!
Dress like Fred from scooby doo in a few steps
Great how-to advice! Just curious when an ascot is generally appropriate attire?

Now I want to get a ASCOT!
Excellent video.
this video really helped me! Thank you!
How about some tips on boutonnières ?
Interesting.......I learnt new good tips. Thanks!
Likes the Ascot,Cravates coool!
Came here so I could look like Mr Furley !! ❤😂😂😂😂
What are the ascot measures?
I want to try to make one with a nice silk I have.
I can see it as a way to protect my neck when having a sore throat. Is it possible to wear it a bit higher on the neck?
+Xxan sure, just like I showed in the video
Yeah I'm guessing you could just tighten it and move it up a bit.
Verry well made. Thank you very muchg for this.
Great video though! Thankyou I have been wondering how to tie this cravat
As always: fabulous.
I like this video. Thank you for posting.
THIS MY CHILD BEATING ASCOT!
I GOT IT FOR BEATING 50 KIDS IN A ROW!
Great information! Where did you get your paisley ascot? Thanks!
Handy video!
