My father taught me to tie what you call a Windsor when I was five or six years old. He told me that knowing how to tie a man’s tie is a necessary skill for a girl lol. It did come in handy many times in my life. The first three you’ve shown are the ones I go to for my husband and son, but I love the Prince Albert, I do think it’ll be great for a young man.
Paid very close attention and rewatched a lot. Started always holding the shorter blade and using my index finger to pull the tie inside the knot just like you. I’ve never tied a tie with such ease. This video is a true masterclass
As always, stylish and informative video! I love your content on all platforms. You sold me on the four in hand and that is now my go-to knot. Thank you!!
I love this segment. I've noticed that people don't care about making the bigger, thinner tie the same length. It takes me a little longer to tie my ties, but the front and back tie have to be the same length for me. Maybe it's OCD:) Great Job, Sir.
Thank you … I think it depends on how tall you are too. There is a following for having the rear blade longer and visible to the side of the front blade. Good to see a tie!👔🤝
Thank you thannnnnkkkk you.most wanted video for me.... for teaching my husband also. Frankly some meetings when all dress is fine, tie really adds the look, otherwise will spoil the show... but cant ask anyone also
Great knot lesson, Professor Jeremy! I am learning a lot with you! Thank you very much for teaching me The Double Windsor! I’ll try the Four in Hand sometime. It’s a very classic knot too.
Been perfecting the full Windsor all my life. Glad to see the validation in the comments. Can you have a video on the bowtie? Recently learned to do one but want to perfect it
Great tutorial ! I generally use a 4 in hand. And now and again a half winsor. oddly, I use a winsor when wearing a three piece suit or a vest, so the point of tie is concealed. ❤
It’s incredible trying to visualise how I tie a tie as it’s such a thoughtless muscle-memory process done countless times. I may try something different now! Great instructions, thank you.
Just subscribed to your excellent channel. Great little tutorial - thank you. I mostly prefer the classic four-in-hand myself (occasionally the half or full Windsor when wearing a spread collar). If I may ask: what line(s) of fragrances do you carry at your shoppe? I’ve been admiring the bottles in the background but can’t quite make them out.
Don't mean to sound negative, but the Prince Albert just looks "scruffy ", and is definitely not for me. Admittedly, as I'm of the "older" generation, the Windsor is my knot of choice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your video. I like the double 4 in hand, but I tie it in a way that does not show the lower layer. It adds some size to the otherwise small 4 in hand.
Greetings! Since my dad taught me the Windsor (school and church as a boy), it has sentimental value. Four in hand and double four in hand, complete the trio of knots in my arsenal. Which one I choose depends on the tie and my mood.
The Shelby (or Pratt) is a symmetrical knot, similar to the Windsor, but not as bulky (which can be uncomfortable). It gives you a neat, well-groomed look.
That‘s a general rule, but rules are meant to be broken. I personally think a four on hand works fine with a cutaway, but a Windsor doesn’t work with a point collar.
Whilst I’m wearing such at the beginning of the video ( in a small spot) .. generally I would match them, but pick up a colour in a different pattern…. Spots, for me is an exception but still a bit ‘matchy matchy’ 🤝
What would you recommend for people with 22 inch necks. Even with the four in hand, my rear blade is only about 3 inches long. The half or full Windsor would be nigh on impossible. Are there extra long ties available?
Ties can be made for you. I’m sure there will be tie makers who can make a longer length. We can only make in twos from limited silks. Someone like E Marinella that specialises in making individual ties. Alternatively I would have though a store in The US may cater for a longer tie🤝
Jeremy, I once tried a full Windsor and nearly strangled myself. After watching your excellent presentation I'll give it another go, as I've a wedding to attend next week. Wish me luck, as I'm sure it will be needed.
I learned to tie on my own, practicing from my dad ties, which he didn’t real use, he loved bow ties😂. As a girl this helped me and I thought my sons.. now to teach them Princess Albert😊 Your teaching is great. I knew 3 besides the price Albert.. He called the ties hangmans😂.. due to the fact at the mortuary they always received bodies hung by ties 😂😅
Your advice is excellent although I don't put a crease in the top of a shirt cuff but roll them on my knee as you do the collar. The wearing of ties is fast disappearing except for smart occasions and the level of clothes care you practise may well not be followed by the younger men. I am a former valet and am completely familiar with your sense of taste and style - it will get you anywhere. Four in hand every time! Hope to pop in when in Harrogate. Roger
The symmetry of a windsor is nice but the width and shortening of it throws it off for me.. Too much symmetry in one place can also highlight dissymmetry in another (like the face!) and that’s not good 😊
On the first one your body is turned away from the camera about 30 degrees and so your hand blocks the movement of the tie and then it makes it more difficult.
Hi Jeremy, I used the Windsor knot most of the time when I was at work. I’ve just looked at the Eldridge online. What is the point of that? Ridiculous if you ask me….
How interesting, to me, a Prince Albert is a watch chain that goes from a mid button on the vest and into the pocket watch in the vest pocket. A chain that goes from the button hole to each side, a watch in one and maybe a silver match box or pibe tool in the other side pocket, is thus a Double Prince Albert. And then ofcourse, there is the modern use of the term for body piercings, which I shall refrain from describing here. The guy must have been quite the dapper fellow, giving his name to all sorts of things :)
Ask a Persian rug dealer. He will explain the mystery. They are perfectly woven but with a single dropped stitch, as they believe nothing earthbound can be perfect.
The four in hand knot looks unfinished with a dimple. The best looking knot with a spread collar like yours is the Windsor no dimple. Everyone has a different view, when i see a four in hand knot i assume the person got up late and didn’t look in the mirror.
You are right we are all different . My dad showed me the Windsor when I was five and out of respect for him , I try not to judge someone who is at the very least wearing a tie!🤝
The full Windsor is definitely more balanced and symmetrical but it's a bulky little so and so, needs the correct collar to carry it off obviously. The Prince Albert, in my humble opinion, just looks untidy 😂 Great video though. Thanks.
The four in hand is my go to tie knot. I always like watching your videos.
Glad you like them!🤝🥂

Your father was a wise man.. and passed on his knowledge . I’m sure every time you tied it.. you thought of him🤝
Especially now when it’s totally on trend for women to wear ties!😊
Greetings from New York! Another great tutorial. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!🤝🥂
Good video...will be wearing a bow tie for church 7am service..it is 530am in new york 😊😊😊😊😊..merry Christmas..happy holidays 2 all..peace
I just like the symmetry of the full Windsor but you're right - it is almost too good at shortening your tie!
You picked the best two IMHO 🤝
Paid very close attention and rewatched a lot. Started always holding the shorter blade and using my index finger to pull the tie inside the knot just like you. I’ve never tied a tie with such ease. This video is a true masterclass
Thank you very much and I’m glad it was useful🤝
As always, stylish and informative video! I love your content on all platforms. You sold me on the four in hand and that is now my go-to knot. Thank you!!
Great to hear!…thank you 🤝🥂
As a girl my father taught me the first method, I didn't know the rest. Thank a lot for sharing, love the third one 😊🌸🌸
Thank you . 👔🤝🤝
Just discovered this channel. Splendid content. Well presented. You just got a new subscriber.
Thank you very much and welcome🤝🥂
Greatly appreciated!!! Thanks a ton Sir!
Most welcome!🤝
I like the collar on that shirt. Can you tell me what kind of collar that is ?
Thank you, it’s our semi cutaway
I love this segment. I've noticed that people don't care about making the bigger, thinner tie the same length. It takes me a little longer to tie my ties, but the front and back tie have to be the same length for me. Maybe it's OCD:) Great Job, Sir.

Thanks for sharing this! I think the four in hand is by far the nicest!💯❣️
🎯🎯🥂
Great knot lesson, Professor Jeremy!
I am learning a lot with you!
Thank you very much for teaching me The Double Windsor!
I’ll try the Four in Hand sometime. It’s a very classic knot too.
You are very welcome🥂…. ‘Prof’ says it’s the Full Windsor and half Windsor 😂
Been perfecting the full Windsor all my life. Glad to see the validation in the comments.
Can you have a video on the bowtie? Recently learned to do one but want to perfect it
There is one on our our Channel and certainly one on our IG
4 in hand all the way
🎯🎯🥂
Great tutorial. I've always used the four in hand. From New Zealand.
🤝🤝🥂
It's always been the half Windsor for me from Mondays to Thursdays, and the four-in-hand on Fridays :)
I love this channel, hugs from Brazil.
My favorite choice is the four in the hand! Thanks for the video!
My favourite too🤝🤝
I prefer the full Windsor or half Windsor depending on the thickness of the tie material.
👔🤝🤝
I think the knot you choose depends a lot on the spread of the collar. Wide spread collar needs a fuller knot. Just my opinion…
Absolutely!
I would agree with that. Probably depends on the occasion too
Information📺📺📺📺📺📱📱📱📱📱📱 📺📺📺📺📺😊😊😊
Great tutorial ! I generally use a 4 in hand. And now and again a half winsor. oddly, I use a winsor when wearing a three piece suit or a vest, so the point of tie is concealed. ❤
I like the four in hand but damn that full Windsor was super clean
It’s incredible trying to visualise how I tie a tie as it’s such a thoughtless muscle-memory process done countless times. I may try something different now! Great instructions, thank you.
Thank you 🤝

Thank you ! We carry Santa Maria Novella fragrances ( the oldest pharmacy in the world in Florence) 🤝
Hello, I saw in your videos that you wore a blue polka-dot ascot. Could you do a tutorial on how to tie an Ascot?
Yes of course…. Already on our Tik Tok and IG account 🤝
Don't mean to sound negative, but the Prince Albert just looks "scruffy ", and is definitely not for me. Admittedly, as I'm of the "older" generation, the Windsor is my knot of choice. Thanks for sharing.
🤝🤝
I agree, I think it looks god awful. Great informative video, though, just not a fan of that knot.
Hi Jeremy. Can I ask, where are your spectacles from?
They are from E B Meyrowitz🥂
Thank you for your video. I like the double 4 in hand, but I tie it in a way that does not show the lower layer. It adds some size to the otherwise small 4 in hand.
Yes it bulks it up🙏🤝🤝
Greetings! Since my dad taught me the Windsor (school and church as a boy), it has sentimental value. Four in hand and double four in hand, complete the trio of knots in my arsenal. Which one I choose depends on the tie and my mood.
Yes …. I remember my dad teaching me and I get the sentimentality 🤝🤝🥂
Just found your channel and love it. Thank you. Your watch. Is it a A. Lange & Söhne or possibly a Glashütte Original. Thank you. 🙏
Thank you it’s ALS 🤝
Knot 1: 1:30
Half Windsor: 2:41
Windsor: 4:18
Prince Albert/Double 4: 5:46
The Shelby (or Pratt) is a symmetrical knot, similar to the Windsor, but not as bulky (which can be uncomfortable). It gives you a neat, well-groomed look.
Would it be fair to say that the more 'cutaway' the collar, the wider the tie knot should be? Really enjoy your videos btw!
That‘s a general rule, but rules are meant to be broken. I personally think a four on hand works fine with a cutaway, but a Windsor doesn’t work with a point collar.
As long as the knot has some body ( or rather the tie) I stay with the four in hand 🤝
What’s the verdict on matching ties and pocket squares?
Whilst I’m wearing such at the beginning of the video ( in a small spot) .. generally I would match them, but pick up a colour in a different pattern…. Spots, for me is an exception but still a bit ‘matchy matchy’ 🤝

Ahem, your pocket square seems to be matching your tie
Very rare it does … but in a small spot … occasionally but usually never
Jeremy, I once tried a full Windsor and nearly strangled myself. After watching your excellent presentation I'll give it another go, as I've a wedding to attend next week. Wish me luck, as I'm sure it will be needed.
🤝🥂👔
Four in hand for meeee
🤝🤝🤝😊
What’s the watch? Lange or Glashutte?
ALS🥂
I learned to tie on my own, practicing from my dad ties, which he didn’t real use, he loved bow ties😂. As a girl this helped me and I thought my sons.. now to teach them Princess Albert😊
Your teaching is great. I knew 3 besides the price Albert..
He called the ties hangmans😂.. due to the fact at the mortuary they always received bodies hung by ties 😂😅
Thank you …chilling at the end of your comment😱😱…🤝🥂
School Boy for informal events, Half Windsor for formal but for a skinny ties, and full Windsor for formal events with regular sized ties. My 2 cents.
If it works for you Alex, that’s great. … I stay with the four in hand ‘schoolboy’ knot for all🤝🥂
Your advice is excellent although I don't put a crease in the top of a shirt cuff but roll them on my knee as you do the collar. The wearing of ties is fast disappearing except for smart occasions and the level of clothes care you practise may well not be followed by the younger men. Hope to pop in when in Harrogate.
Roger
Thank you Roger… yes come and say hello🥂
I used to experiment quite a lot with knots, but I know exclusively tie a four in hand or a Prince Albert.
I almost always do the full windsor or the half windsor and they look lovely
The collar of the shirt exposes the loop of the tie around the neck. Is that the intended look?
Not intentional, I try to show as little as possible🤝
The symmetry of a windsor is nice but the width and shortening of it throws it off for me.. Too much symmetry in one place can also highlight dissymmetry in another (like the face!) and that’s not good 😊
That’s a very accurate observation🤝
What is the best way to remove a stain from a silk tie?
My colleague is really good at doing just that … I will have to ask him and do a video on it🥂
Great video
Thanks!🤝
I was taught the "prince albert" knot as the "Italian" knot.
Jaysis, them brits really are insane!!🤔🤔
Slightly barmy at times…
I wonder if there was a mirror to the left of the camera during the tying of the knots🤔
Probably not, if you've been tying them since the age of five.
I generally always use a mirror🤝🤝
It has always been Half Windsor knot for me
I wish I'd seen this video before I asked you this question and my 'Windsor knot' comment🤭
🤝🤝hope you are well Graham🥂
Very well thank you Jeremy and thank you for all your done for me. Looking forward to visiting Rhodes-Wood many more times in the future.
Our pleasure Graham🤝🥂
In today's busy life, the first one is easy and reasonable, in my opinion.
I have to have a full Windsor (you’ll be able to work out why) but I prefer a half Windsor.
🤝🤝
Quem sabe, sabe 😮❤
🎯🎯🤝
On the first one your body is turned away from the camera about 30 degrees and so your hand blocks
the movement of the tie and then it makes it more difficult.
Please see the tie knots on TT and IG 🤝
Hi Jeremy, I used the Windsor knot most of the time when I was at work. I’ve just looked at the Eldridge online. What is the point of that? Ridiculous if you ask me….
I have to agree with you there… I just don’t get it… ‘tried too hard’ 🤝🤝
If you're six foot two, then you're the same height as another Yorkshire chap-- Joe Root :) Love you videos. Love from Bangladesh
I've only ever used a full Windsor. I find the symmetry appealing. Hmm, there might be a reason I was an engineer by trade.
Could be… and you should wear what you like🥂
is 85 ways topologically comprehensive? also, your shirt wants a half windsor, definitely looks weird and thing with a four in hand
If it was your shirt.. you could tie a half Windsor… I stand with the four in hand. The 85 ways to tie a tie ?….not for me but amusing
!!! Thank You !!!!
You're welcome!🤝
How interesting, to me, a Prince Albert is a watch chain that goes from a mid button on the vest and into the pocket watch in the vest pocket. Watch you and your shop I likes very much because I likes dress up I think who’s dress up have look prestigious receive believe from peoples 🤟🏽
🤝🤝
The dimple is key.
🎯🎯🎯🥂
When you tossed the book…. 😂😂😂
And the handsome man in the back with the double-breasted jacket is a nice added Easter egg. 😊
Thank you …. You notice the smaller details🤝
3:54 full Windsor
I never understood the appeal of the crooked, lopsided four-in-hand. no other part of our outfit is asymmetrical, so why should our tie be that way?
I used to think exactly the same …I was taught the Windsor when I was 5. Now I love the four in hand as it ‘softens’ the look🤝
Ask a Persian rug dealer.
He will explain the mystery.
They are perfectly woven but with a single dropped stitch, as they believe nothing earthbound can be perfect.
Classy
Excelent
🤝🤝
Thx for sharing, master. 👍
My pleasure!🙏🙏
I personally the first and 3 way to do a tie. I think it gives the biggest oomph to your tie. If you are wearing a tie, make it stand out.
I really dont think you should pinch the not in a Windsor knot.
It’s up to the wearer… don’t do it if you don’t like it. I don’t like The Windsor knot… but it’s very popular
Full Windsor looks best with that type collar.
For your eye… and I understand why… 🤝
The full Windsor is definitely more balanced and symmetrical but it's a bulky little so and so, needs the correct collar to carry it off obviously. The Prince Albert, in my humble opinion, just looks untidy 😂
Great video though. Thanks.
I stick with the 4 in hand🤝🥂
